The British Academy – the UK’s national body for the humanities and social sciences - is seeking a Membership and Training Assistant to join the Early Career Researcher Network (ECRN) team, supporting the delivery of our inclusive, researcher-led network for early career researchers working across the SHAPE disciplines.

The role

The ECRN Membership and Training Assistant will play a key role in providing administrative support for the Early Career Research Network. The role holder will work closely with the ECRN team and will interact with researchers, universities and other stakeholders, as well as academic Fellows and colleagues from across the Academy.

You will support the ECRN Membership Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Network’s membership function. Key responsibilities include monitoring membership workflows, responding to member enquiries in a timely and professional manner, and serving as a primary point of contact for early career researchers interested in joining the Network. 

The primary focus of this role will be managing membership and data-related activities, but you will also be providing administrative and logistical support for the Leadership and Advancement Programme and wider Network as required.

You will be confident using Microsoft Office programmes daily, such as Outlook, Excel and Teams and will be supporting with online events through Zoom. You will have to keep membership records up to date on our CRM database, Salesforce and communicate with our members.

The role holder will gain a proficient understanding of our membership policies and procedures and support the management of our online community platform.

You will be expected to travel across the UK from time to time to attend events and meetings with our delivery partners and other key stakeholders where appropriate.

The grants operations and data manager is a newly created role, within Moorfields Eye Charity's grants and research team, to support, manage and develop grant funding operations. We are seeking a diligent and faithful Finance Reporting Manager to join our team in stewarding the financial resources of the organisation. This role plays a key part in supporting the Head of Finance in ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and wise resource management in line with our Christian values and mission.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide full support to the Head of Finance, especially in the preparation of year-end annual statutory accounts for the College and Trading Company including the audit.
• Assist in producing monthly management accounts for the College and Trading Company.
• Support the preparation of the annual financial data return as required by the Office for Students.
• Supervise the management of cash flow to ensure financial sustainability and accountability.
• Assist with statutory and regulatory compliance, including Charity Commission annual returns, Corporation Tax, and ONS returns.
• Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes across all courses, ensuring each has a minimum viable number for financial planning.
• Produce detailed product-level profit and loss statements for all courses.
• Prepare financial reports for specific projects and funds, including fund accounting and pricing of courses.

• Regularly review budgets against actuals and update forecasts in collaboration with budget holders.

Work pattern: £12.75 per hour, minimum of 12 hrs a week. The 12 hours per week are to include the following hours onsite at Share Bristol on the UWE Frenchay campus.

Other hours can be worked flexibly either on or off-site.

Oversee the Share Bristol Frenchay Library of Things, ensuring it meets the needs of the local community, and work in partnership with the rest of the Share Bristol team to ensure the success of our charity and our Library of Things service.

This role is responsible for the day to day running of the Frenchay Library of Things, recruiting and supporting our volunteers, helping us engage with partner organisations, including UWE, managing our Thing donations and inventory, and assisting our current and potential members.

Just Like Us (JLU) is the UK’s LGBT+ young people’s charity, empowering 18–25-year-olds to share their experiences in schools and improve LGBT+ inclusion through peer-led talks and ambassador programmes. 

This joint role represents an exciting partnership between two organisations committed to racial justice, LGBTQ+ inclusion and systemic transformation. 

1. Just Like Us (3.5 days/week): To support the delivery of Just Like Us’ Ambassador and School Talks programmes – including recruitment, training and coordination of young LGBT+ volunteers and engaging with schools to foster inclusive environments. 

2.  Black Queer & Thriving: There is potential for this role to expand in scope (up to 1.5 additional days per week), subject to funding. Should this occur, the role may include additional responsibilities in line with the aims of the Black LGBTQ+ Working Group and Southwark engagement priorities. The Senior Fundraising Support & Services Manager will lead a team of two Fundraising Support Executives, providing pre-award support to income-generating teams in the UK, USA and internationally. The postholder will oversee the structuring, costing, and management of proposals and funding agreements, lead pledge administration and philanthropic scholarship processes, and improve operational processes. They will also represent the team on LSE’s CRM replacement project, ensuring that system design and implementation meets operational and compliance needs.

The successful candidate will have:

· Experience leading fundraising or advancement operations within higher education, not-for-profit, or a comparable complex organisation.

· Thorough knowledge of UK and international fundraising practices, including tax-efficient giving.

· Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing staff, and the ability to resolve complex problems and make autonomous decisions.

· Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.

Role Description

The role of a programme coordinator is ensuring the smooth running of all programme related events. This will include having a full understanding of all the SEO London programmes; understanding the relevant industry that the programme supports; how these fits into the SEO London organisation and using this knowledge to liaise with students, young professionals and client/partner firms to run, organise and market successful events. In turn this role will be responsible for using data to run reports to show the impact of each programme. In coordination with the programme managers and other programme coordinators, will make recommendations for possible changes and ideas to further support the student and young professional experience. The role will also ensure a seamless and professional level of customer care to all participants.

Accountabilities

DAY TO DAY DELIVERY OF EVENTS

• Responsible for the overall administration all participants events, with specific responsibility to ensure student communication is exceptional. Including event management, student and partner communication and coordination of all the relevant stakeholders, along with posting roles on opportunities page and weekly newsletter 

 
STUDENT MANAGEMENT & QUERY HANDLING 

• Responsible for the relationship management of the participants - including the ability to understand needs, resolve issues and anticipating and creating a strong relationship on behalf of SEO London
• Responsible for managing participants query escalations and to identify where there are opportunities to improve communication, marketing, or the type of events
• Responsible for managing the programme inbox (where applicable)

Royal Economic Society (RES) is the professional membership body and learned society for the study and application of economics. The Partnerships Manager will play a central role in helping the RES achieve its strategic goals by developing, building and sustaining partnerships to deliver external funding. The individual will manage existing relationships, identify opportunities, lead bid writing, develop compelling funding proposals, and build relationships with funders, partners, and philanthropic donors.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising and bid development

• Identify and secure new sponsorship and partnerships opportunities to support existing RES activities
• Seek funding for new activities in line with the Society’s goals.
• Maintain and develop relationships with current and prospective partners including funding bodies, trusts and foundations, sponsors, major donors, corporates, universities and others.
• Write high-quality, persuasive funding bids and proposals, working with RES staff, trustees, and partner organisations.
• Develop cases for support, theory of change frameworks and budgets to underpin funding applications.

Person Specification

Essential Skills

1. Proven experience of successful fundraising, bid writing or business development, preferably in a learned society, research organisation, professional body or in higher education.
2. Understanding of impact and outcomes-based funding models (e.g. theory of change), and how to align funding opportunities with organisational priorities.
3. Ability to support the development of budgets for funding bids and to track/report against income target.
4. Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write persuasive funding bids, cases for support, and briefing materials.
6. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a small team environment.
7. Highly organised, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines whilst maintaining quality.
