About the role:

This role is home and office based, with travel throughout London. As a Male Independent Domestic Violence Advocate you will: -

• Ensure that male survivors' safety and housing needs are met, provide specialist support for survivors at the moment of crisis.
• Provision of advocacy; supporting survivors to access safe accommodation, ensure that the service prioritises the safety, security and dignity of service users and their children

You will need:

• an understanding of domestic abuse & its impact
• knowledge of risk assessment, safety planning &risk management
• an understanding of Safeguarding issues &the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues
• knowledge of Housing Law, able to provide up to date advice & information to victims
• experience of working with housing agencies or in a housing setting in the context of domestic abuse
• strong communication, negotiation and advisory skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals. Understand and be committed to equal opportunities and diversity issues in policy and practice
• strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful & difficult situations.

About the role:

The role of Triage and Early Interventions Officer (TEIO) is a fast paced one which requires the post holder to answer incoming calls and make outgoing calls to victims of crime and those accessing the service in Cumbria.

As a TEIO, you will;

• answer incoming calls, speaking to those affected by crime & manage a caseload
• make outgoing calls, assess needs and risks and action plan with callers
• work on the case management system to allocate cases, provide administration on cases and assess/ensure data quality
• liaise with other agencies where required to find out more information, give information or make referrals or give signposting information
• work with the wider team to ensure an effective, trauma informed service is given to those affected by crime

You will be a confident, compassionate and empathic person who can work well under pressure. You will be speaking to people who may be upset, angry or in emotional difficulties and will need to be composed, empathic and be able to quickly assess situations.

You will be confident in using your IT skills to work on a case management system, access phone and online systems, email and Microsoft Office programmes.

About the Role:

Victim Support (VS) is the leading independent charity in England and Wales for people who have been affected by crime and traumatic incidents. Understanding the experience and needs of victims and witnesses of crime is central to the charities' aims and vision.

As a Research & Lived Experience Officer you will have the opportunity to capture the voice of victims and promote evidence based recommendations to improve the experience of victims in the criminal justice system. You will be a part of a small but enthusiastic research team, while also having the opportunity to lead your own project.

You will have the opportunity to recruit participants and manage a Lived Experience Engagement Forum, and to regularly engage, build and maintain close relationships with the forum's participants. You will also need to conduct workshops/focus groups to collect feedback and insights from the participants on various products and procedures, and produce summaries of this feedback.

To be successful in the role you will need to have proven experience in recruiting vulnerable people to take part in research activities and conducting workshops or focus groups and interviews. Experience in writing and analysing surveys is an advantage. You will also have excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work independently, as well as experience of working in partnership with various stakeholders. Having knowledge of victims of crime is desirable, but not essential.

About the role:

One role is based at Kings College Hospital the second role is based at Princess Royal University Hospital. As a Hospital Independent Domestic Violence Advocate you will:

• implement effective ways of working with male victims and those supporting them to increase safety and reduce harm
• provide a high-quality, front-line service to male victims of domestic abuse, delivering a premium service prioritised according to risk, primarily focusing on victim/survivors aged 16+
• initiate, develop, maintain and monitor multi-agency links through procedures and protocols to keep safety central to all services for victims of domestic abuse
• specialise and be leading practitioner for Male victims of domestic abuse; providing advice, guidance and single point of contact for a male victims

You will need:

• Have a knowledge of help-seeking barriers and support needs of victims of domestic abuse (in heterosexual or same-sex relationships).
• Have a good understanding of domestic abuse including the impact of domestic abuse on victims and their children.
• Understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children

We have a unique opportunity for an IDVA in a pilot project at Charing Cross Emergency Department. This s a full time 37.5hrs on a 12 month fixed term contract until end of June 2025. National LGBT+ Independent Victim Advocate

Do you want to make life better for LGBT+ victims and survivors of abuse?

Galop works directly with thousands of LGBT+ people who have experienced abuse and violence every year. We specialise in supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence, hate crime, and other forms of abuse including honour-based abuse, forced marriage, and so-called conversion therapies. We are a service run by LGBT+ people, for LGBT+ people, and the needs of our community are at the centre of what we do.

We run three national support helplines for LGBT+ victims and survivors of domestic abuse, so-called “conversion therapy, ”and hate crime. We provide advocacy services, both in London and nationally, for LGBT+ victims who need longer-term support. We are person-centred, empowerment-based, and trauma-informed – meaning our focus is always on helping our clients decide what is best for them, and then supporting them through their journey.

We use what we learn through working on the frontlines with clients to work on national and local policy change, to improve outcomes for LGBT+ victims and survivors of abuse and violence. We build evidence through key pieces of research, like our upcoming report into LGBT+ experiences of sexual violence. We push for legislative change, improved statutory guidance for victims, and better understanding of the needs of LGBT+ people around the country. 

About the role

You will be joining our growing national advocacy team, supporting survivors remotely across the UK and providing Face-to-face support, office based, or community-based support in Wales which will be 
delivered in the context of a confidential and a safe space for survivors. You will work directly with LGBT+ victims/survivors, offering them a space to talk and think through options, helping them plan what they want to do, and offering assistance in getting what they need from services. Your work will focus on needs specifically related to experiences of abuse or violence, including issues such as wellbeing, support with the criminal and civil justice process, safety and access to other services to enable survivors to cope and recover. You will be empathetic and thoughtful in your approach to understanding your clients’ needs, while maintaining boundaries and mindful of self-care.

Providing advice, advocacy and support to LGBT+ victims/survivors of abuse and violence, with a focus on so-called conversion practices, which will include:

• Remotely supporting, advising and advocating for a national caseload of LGBT+ people who have been subjected to abuse or violence. The focus of the support will be to LGBT+ victims/survivors of so-called conversion practices
• Ensuring your approach to contact with clients is trauma-informed, empowerment-based and person-centred.
• Providing information and support to enable clients to make informed choices and meet their individual needs.
• Assisting victims/survivors in dealing with the diverse impacts of harm and abuse (safety, emotional, social, financial, or practical).
• Assisting/supporting clients in navigating the criminal/civil justice systems, ensuring they are aware of their rights and options.
• Maintaining professional boundaries at all times and ensuring that clients understand the remit of the service.
   

Partnership working

• Providing appropriate referrals/signposting to other agencies including, housing, welfare, counselling and other support services.
• Maintaining positive working relationships with key agencies and Galop partners, including attending internal/external meetings, with a focus on Wales.
• Working with agencies to safeguard victims and survivors, keeping them informed of relevant changes to a client’s situation.

 
Monitoring and evaluation

• Ensuring all client records are maintained and treated in confidence, according to Galop policies and GDPR legislation.
• Keeping accurate records of work undertaken with clients in line with Galop’s policies and funder agreements.
• Assist collecting monitoring data and client feedback for reports.
• Understanding of and commitment to inclusive working with LGBT+ clients from diverse backgrounds.
• Acting in accordance with Galop policies, procedures and ethos.
• Being an active member of the Galop team, attending regular staff team meetings, attending clinical supervision and training.
• Participating and contributing to Galop service planning & strategic development, with a focus on Wales.
   

About you

You will have expertise in delivering needs-led specialist support services. You will need to be solutions-focused and enjoy working collaboratively across a diverse and committed team. You’ll need to have good resilience and self-care and be prepared to work in an environment where abuse and violence are regularly talked about. You’ll need to understand the impact of trauma and how that affects our team.

There is a Genuine Occupational Requirement under the Equality Act 2010 that the post holder has experience of LGBT+ needs and the impact of discrimination. Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of LGBT+ people’s lives, including awareness of the issues that LGBT+ survivors might face.
In addition, due to role being a Bilingual post, it is an essential requirement for the individual for this role to speak fluent Welsh and English. 

Location: This is a remote post, working from home.
The role will include travel to our London building and occasional travel across the UK and in particular to communities across Wales.
Hours: 0.6 FTE (21 hours per week) flexibility available 
Contract: Until 31 March 2025 (extension subject to funding)

We are looking for a new Advocacy & Support Manager to manage a team of specialist advocates and caseworkers providing needs-led support, information and advocacy to LGBT+ survivors of a range of violence and abuse. You will work with the Head of Advocacy and other advocacy managers to ensure that survivors have access to needs-led, timely support that is right for them, maintaining high quality, consistent support across our advocacy and one-to-one support, whether that is in-person or remote.

You will have an in depth understanding of the spectrum of violence and abuse that LGBT+ people are subjected to, including the causes, impact and barriers to accessing services. You will use your expertise to represent Galop with key stakeholders, advocating for the needs of the community. You will be responsible for ensuring that data collected about the service is collected consistently and use this to report to funders. You will develop and maintain relationships with funders and ensuring that the service is effectively demonstrating the different that it makes. You will work with the Head of Advocacy and Director of Services to develop bids for new or continued funding for frontline services.

The Role

As a Project Lead for the ASB team you will be:

The Africa Death Penalty Team Project Manager is responsible for coordinating Reprieve’s litigation and advocacy in Sub-Saharan Africa. At the moment, the team works on death penalty casework and abolition advocacy in Malawi, Tanzania, and Kenya. Our casework includes work on individual cases on behalf of people facing a death sentence; large-scale projects, such as the Kenya resentencing project, wherein we support stakeholders to ensure 5,000+ people are able to access a chance at reducing their sentence from death via a new sentence hearing; and  long-term regional projects, such as our strategic litigation before the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, which challenges the mandatory death penalty, torture, and other associated violations of the African Charter.

Regional context

 There is a trend toward the abolition of the death penalty in Africa. In recent years, countries across the continent have taken the decision to limit the application of the death penalty or to abolish it altogether. This has been seen as a turning away from old laws and systems that were imposed by former colonial governments, which obstructed alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, and were designed to remove discretion from the local judiciary. African lawyers and judges are now at the forefront of a wave of progressive jurisprudence on issues related to the death penalty including methods of executions, torture, sentencing practice, conditions of confinement, and intersections of gender, disability, and socioeconomic status with criminal justice. This jurisprudence has become a model for the international movement to limit the death penalty, and is being held up as best practice in jurisdictions around the world.

Contract and location

The Psychotherapy Service provides predominantly longer-term therapeutic support of a year or more, depending on how the work is funded, to an average of 130 unique individuals per year.  The current team of 10 are made up of 4 senior therapists (reporting to the postholder), 4 therapists and 2 honoraries in training, the majority of whom are Arts therapists and work within a psychodynamic and/or systemic model.

We welcome applications from experienced Psychodynamic Counsellor/Psychotherapists, Arts therapists, Psychologists or Family Therapists who are passionate about our work. You will work psychodynamically, champion our trauma informed approach including our reflective practice model and have the opportunity to influence and shape the development of the psychotherapy service.  Leading the small team, you will provide clinical leadership and be Safeguarding lead, ensuring we continue to provide high quality psychotherapy services.  We are offering the role at 4-5 days per week, working in a hybrid manner flexibly.
