About the ESU

The English-Speaking Union delivers high-quality oracy education programmes and projects across England and Wales. We believe every child should be able to make their voice heard and that oracy – speaking and listening – skills play a key part in this. Our debating, public speaking, and cultural exchange programmes aim to embed sustainable cultures of oracy in schools, and empower young people to engage with the world, to speak more confidently, and to listen to and understand different points of view. 

Role Overview

ESU Competition Leads host our ESU competitions, including the ESU Schools’ Mace Debating Competition, the ESU Public Speaking Competition and the ESU Performing Shakespeare Competition. The ESU Competition Lead is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of events (heats) throughout the competitions, with duties including Zoom hosting and MCing. If required, Competition Leads may sit on the judges’ panel and provide constructive feedback to students and teachers participating. You will also support and provide guidance for our volunteer judges, ensuring they have a positive experience while volunteering with the ESU. NB The ESU is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Therefore, we expect all contractors to share this commitment. All contractor appointments are subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, including a satisfactory Enhanced DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) Disclosure. 

Responsibilities

 For all competitions you will:

• Support and promote the charitable objectives of the ESU, acting as an ambassador for the organisation
• Assist the ESU Competitions Team in ensuring competition heats run smoothly and act as point of contact for schools and volunteers on the day of heats
• MC or compere Zoom and in-person heats, engaging both students and audience whilst following ESU scripts
• Be the technical host for Zoom ESU competition heats, setting up and hosting Zoom meetings, creating break-out rooms and acting as tech support throughout heats
•  
• Provide accurate heat results in a timely manner to the ESU Competitions Team
• Support volunteer judges and ensure they have a positive and rewarding experience
• If required, be part of judging panels at ESU competition heats (which may include acting as chair judge) offering fair, positive, constructive and unbiased feedback based on our judging criteria
• Follow the ESU’s safeguarding policies and provide oversight of safeguarding and equity requirements, in line with ESU policies
• Signpost teachers and volunteers to resources, other ESU programmes and additional support, such as through the ESU website
• Undertake training sessions for continual professional development

     Person Specification

Essential criteria:

• Be over 18 years of age and have the right to work in the UK
• Be confident in engaging with and motivating young people of different abilities and backgrounds
• A passion for education, social mobility and/or developing young people's oracy skills
• Fully proficient in the English language with excellent spoken language skills
• A confident and engaging public speaker with experience hosting events or judging
• Technically competent, with experience in using Zoom professionally, ideally as a meeting host
• The ability to engage with and motivate young people of different abilities and backgrounds
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines
• Commitment and ability to deliver a minimum number of ESU events between November - June
• Able to participate in mandatory training days
• Have access to a vehicle or be willing to travel via public transport
• Commitment to safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults

 Desirable criteria:

• Experience in debate, public speaking or the performing arts
• Experience of teaching or professionally coaching groups of young people of any age
• Experience in teaching oracy, performance, public speaking and/or debating
• Experience of participating in ESU programmes and/or competitions
• Experience of judging ESU programmes and/or competitions
• Experience of working with UK schools (state or independent)

 1. Following application reviews, suitable candidates will be invited to attend an online interview.

2. Following this, you will then be invited to attend either an in-person or online training day. This will be a skill-enriching, interactive session on the ESU, Competitions, judging and day of management.

3. The ESU takes safeguarding very seriously. Following a successful and complete interview process, all applicants will be expected to complete a basic DBS Check and ESU safeguarding training.

4. Once you receive your DBS certificate, you will be fully onboarded as an ESU Competition Lead.

5. You will be sent our competition diary so that you can sign up and start judging, MCing and leading competition heats!

The project aims to support local people in making use of available resources in Camden by co-producing a range of well-being workshops and Community Activities both in-house and with established community providers.

About the Role

The main responsibilities for this role are to maintain and improve Salesforce for the delivery and monitoring of activities, including delivery of the programme, volunteer recruitment, and partnerships management.

The system is optimised to serve the specific needs of the organisation and is intensively used by frontline staff and management on a daily basis. The organisation has an ongoing service agreement with ImpactBox, a Salesforce development company, for more significant development work. The platform is also integrated with Moodle, to allow management and monitoring of online learning for students.

You will have full oversight of the system and will support the team to make ongoing changes to functionality to achieve its goals. This would involve both independently updating the system (making reports, adding/changing fields, creating custom objects, creating and maintaining flows, user management etc.) and/or forwarding requirements to ImpactBox or your line manager if the development requirements are more significant. You will manage and assign user requests to the correct resource, being the first point of contact for all requests, and working cooperatively with staff members to ensure that needs are met.

About You

We are looking for someone with excellent project management skills and experience of:

· Analysing data in Excel and translating it into useful information for different audiences.

· Implementing, configuring, or administering solutions for Salesforce.

· Salesforce administration: Ability to manage and maintain user accounts, profiles, roles, and permissions.

· Reporting and dashboards: Knowledge of how to configure and maintain custom report types, reports, and dashboards

· Customisation and configuration: Ability to configure, build, and maintain custom Salesforce functionality including custom objects, fields, page layouts, process builders, flows, and workflows

· Data cleaning: Good knowledge of Excel to cleanse and analyse data (knowledge of Power Query)

· Integration: Knowledge of Salesforce integrations such as FormAssembly or Zapier (desirable), and how to import and export data into Salesforce using Dataloader, XL Connector, or equivalent

· Stakeholder and project management: Ability to manage projects involving both internal and external stakeholders, maintaining clear lines of communication

What the job involves

We’re looking for a Black Health Equity Engagement Officer to join our Black Health Equity and Engagement team. The team plays a key role in supporting our community engagement work by building trust and strengthening relationships with Black community organisations and leaders across the UK. The aim is to raise awareness of prostate cancer risk within Black communities and help reduce the health inequalities experienced by Black men.

As a Black Health Equity Engagement Officer, you’ll be providing the logistical support to Prostate Cancer UK’s Black Men’s Advisory Group - who provide insights, support and guidance to the charity to help us address Black health equity. You’ll attend a wide range of community events and identify ways to spread awareness and build trusting relationships with groups, organisations and networks.

By building an understanding of the ways which health inequalities impact Black men affected by prostate cancer (and their families) you’ll establish effective and efficient working practices and gather data capturing the impact of this work.

You’ll get to meet a wide range of supporters and work with Black communities to ensure their lived experiences shape our work and help to increase our number of Black volunteers to increase awareness. You’ll also get to work with different teams across the charity and act as a source of knowledge for our work in tackling health inequalities. 

What we want from you

We’re looking for candidates who understand health inequalities and is able to explain how they may impact Black men affected by prostate cancer. Knowledge of, or previous involvement in health awareness initiatives would be beneficial for this role, although we also value transferable skills gained from other sectors.

You’ll have experience in organising meetings or events that cater to a diverse range of participants, ensuring that various perspectives are heard and valued, especially within Black communities. 

You’ll have a proven ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with a wide array of stakeholders. Furthermore, you’ll be a great communicator, especially when engaging with community stakeholders.

Please note that community events often take place on evenings or weekends – the successful candidate will need to work flexibly to attend roughly one weekend event a month and take time back mid-week. Community awareness events will take place in the Midlands and London.

Action for Refugees in Lewisham (AFRIL) are recruiting for a Community Activities Coordinator to join our growing, dynamic organisation. This exciting new role will sit within AFRIL's busy Casework and Advocacy Service, working collaboratively with our asylum seeking and recently granted refugee clients to plan and deliver a range of activities, improving wellbeing and community solidarity.

Action for Refugees in Lewisham (AFRIL) is a registered charity that supports asylum seekers, refugees, and vulnerable migrants in South East London. Pre-Action Protocol letters to challenge unlawful public law decisions. The service currently provides Level 1 immigration advice under the Immigration Advice Agency.

• Destitution Support - a fortnightly Food Bank in partnership with St Peter’s Church providing food, food vouchers, toiletries, and other essentials, alongside a warm hub with free cafe, information and support. Small grants for essential items and cash payments for food in emergencies. Securing and distributing gifts in kind, e.g. winter coats, laptops and data. 

• Allotment of Refuge - a welcoming community of food growers that supports improved health, wellbeing and integration of members, whilst protecting the local environment. 

• Immigration Project in partnership with Southwark Law Centre, providing free legal advice and representation to support people to regularise their immigration status. 

We also use our frontline experience, together with our clients, to engage in Policy and influencing work to improve the services and policies that impact our client group. This includes advising the GLA on 3 asylum related working groups, and as a member of the London Housing Panel.

Scripture Union England & Wales (SU) one of the UK’s longest-established children and youth ministry organisations is  working in partnership with Activate, an exciting local sport and wellbeing project, to offer this unique role to reach many more young people in the Bushy Park area and across the South of England through physical activity. 

We’re looking for a creative and entrepreneurial individual with a passion for using sport to help children and young people across the South of England to explore and respond to the good news of Jesus. 

This unique role combines the benefits of direct face-to-face engagement with young people in a local context, delivering mission through sport activities and programmes, while also developing and mentoring others to expand ministry across the South region. Key details: Employed by Scripture Union you will spend three days per week developing sports mission across London and the South. For two days per week, you will work on the Activate sports and wellbeing project working across the Bushy Park area.

You might have heard of us before if you're one of the 1.5 million+ who have attended one of our Christian holidays or missions over the years, or maybe you're one of the 40,000+ subscribers to have used our brilliant devotionals or been stirred by our exceptional bible resources. We've been at this for a fair few years... over 150 to be precise. Over this time, we’ve remained passionate about helping children and young people develop a vibrant faith in Jesus. As our name describes, the radical power of God's word has always been central to our approach.

We still do all the great stuff with resources and holidays, but in the last few years, we have sharpened our vision with a renewed focus to help the 95% of young people (primary and secondary school age) across the UK who have never stepped foot inside a church, to hear and respond to the good news of Jesus. Half Time is our brand new Explore-Respond resource which uses sports-themed videos and fun games to help the 95 to explore the life of Jesus by journeying through Mark’s Gospel. 

About Activate 

Activate is a sport and physical activity-based programme, formed in 2018, seeking to build community through wellbeing that invigorates faith.  Activate seeks to release God’s people to join in his mission through sport and physical activity in the areas surrounding Bushy Park. This includes gathering, encouraging and empowering local Christians involved in sports ministry, including expressions of chaplaincy and missional communities centred around sports clubs, centres, educational settings and gyms.  A number of local churches across denominations and Dioceses have been supporters of the project. 

In the past Activate has supported sports projects in local schools, an activity-based church service, wellbeing cafe sessions, exercise sessions for the elderly and youth activities.  The successful candidate will be involved in re-launching Activate’s mission after a break due to staff changes. 

About your team

With this role, you will have the benefit of being part of a national-focused sports team at SU, as well as the south team with a regional focus and the local context with Activate. You’ll work out of the office of St Peter’s Church, West Molesey, benefiting from the support of a local parish-based team including clergy and youth workers. You’ll contribute your expertise in a variety of settings, ranging from urban and suburban to coastal and rural areas across the south. You’ll have a brilliant time getting acquainted with this rich tapestry of local and national partners. Across the south region, we currently work with 130 churches and have 150 faith guides. JOB PURPOSE
UK for UNHCR (UK4U), the UN Refugee Agency's national charity partner, is looking for a Prospect Research Manager to join its Partnerships and Philanthropy Team (PPH). This role will play a key part in continuing to build our UHNWI, HNWI, Trust and Foundation and Corporate pipelines, by working closely with fundraising colleagues as well as UNHCR internationally.  
 

This role reports to the Head of Philanthropy and manages the Prospect Research Officer. The post holder will identify research, organise and evaluate a prospect’s financial capacity, ability to give, willingness to give, charitable interests, and connection to the organisation, operating within the organisation’s due diligence process. The post holder will work closely with senior stakeholders within PPH to help drive each area’s strategy and the overall team objectives.
 

The role manages UK for UNHCR’s due diligence process from renewing due diligence on existing pipelines, to completing new due diligence profiles utilising key due diligence tools and platforms, working with the PPH team, SMT and UNHCR’s global due diligence team.
 

Passionate about the refugee cause and UNHCR’s contribution, you will have demonstrable experience of successfully identifying prospects as well as preparing and presenting in depth prospect briefs for across the high value fundraising pipeline from UHNW and HNW individuals, Trusts & Foundations and corporates.  You will be familiar with using a variety of information sources, of complying with GDPR and other regulations and working with a CRM database.  Donor focussed and a problem solver, you will with have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be someone who enjoys working as part of a team.

Role Responsibilities 

• Collaborate with the Head of Philanthropy and Senior Stakeholders within PPH, to build upon the overarching strategy for the prospect research function, to deliver a strong and sustainable prospect pipeline
• Using a broad spectrum of sources, identify, research, organise and evaluate a prospect’s financial capacity, ability to give, willingness to give, charitable interests, and connection to the organisation. Support fundraising staff in prioritising prospects and building pipelines.
• Lead meetings with senior stakeholders (CEO and Fundraising Heads) to discuss new prospects and the current HNWI portfolio and Corporate pipeline.
• Keep up to date on research and due diligence trends including identifying ways to improve risk research, due diligence and market insight.
• Work within UK4U’s due diligence policy and processes, maintaining a system to enable the organisation to track due diligence carried out, ensuring compliance with all regulatory best practice standards.
• Track and manage prospect research KPIS using power BI.
• Produce in-depth, well-written reports on prospects based on a combination of data from the donor database, open access records and other markers of high-quality donors.
• Managing and coaching an officer level prospect research role, overseeing their work on key projects and developing their skills.
• Embed best practice use of the database within the team, developing tools to analyse and review our prospect pool and how prospects are moved through the pipeline.
• Implement new research techniques as they arise, striving to design a high quality and efficient prospect research methodology.
• Carry regular pipeline reviews to ensure pipelines remain dynamic and fit for purpose.

• Experience of working with colleagues in Individual Giving as well as with major donor and corporate fundraisers to optimise use of a CRM database to identify potential prospects.

About this role

The Communications and Media Officer, part of SPANA’s Communications and Campaigns team, creates high-quality content and drives impactful communications to support the charity’s mission and raise the profile of working animals in the global news agenda.

The role involves producing engaging written, digital and visual content across multiple platforms, ensuring consistency with SPANA’s brand and messaging.
