Educators and facilitators wanted to help East London Waterworks Park deliver its environmental learning goals.

East London Waterworks Park is a volunteer-led charity that has won a 2024 New London Architecture award and raised £2m towards buying land from the Department for Education to transform the 14-acre Thames Water Depot on Lea Bridge Road on the border of Waltham Forest and Hackney, into a new biodiverse park with natural swimming ponds, forest schools and community spaces. 

We are looking for educator and facilitator volunteers to participate in our community-led working group, who are collaborating with schools, universities and youth groups that help the design of the park. 

Examples of projects are: 

• collaborating on nature walk activities for schools
• supporting university students interviewing teachers
• creating lesson plans to co-design the park. 

Schools, universities and youth groups we've collaborated with include:

• Buxton School, Leytonstone
• Kingsmead School, Enfield 
• UCL 
• Royal College of Art
• University of Westminster 
• Project Zero
• Voyage Youth 
• Loyola University Chicago 
• Vanderbilt University Nashville. 

We're looking for people to lead on these projects and facilitate the direction of the learning working group.

The Learning Circle currently meets monthly on a Wednesday evening at 8pm for an hour on Google Meet and spends voluntary time outside of the meeting completing agreed tasks remotely.

You should be an experienced teacher, educational consultant, forest school leader, training and development specialist, learning designer, facilitator or any other kind of role creating learning projects, programmes and experiences. Our roles are quite flexible. We hope that people bring radical imagination, peace with nature, and courageous inclusiveness to the role. 

Your support will help young people and learners improve their environmental knowledge of design and research as well as contributing to our community-owned park. This will in turn provide a sense of stewardship over the land once the park is created and student's ideas have been built into the park. 

Creating learning projects with educational institutions will also help our charity with the strategy to buy the land through showing the value of our environmental education programme before we create the park.

Role Summary. 

Key tasks

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality mobile and web applications using Flutter for both iOS and Android platforms.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other developers to define application features and user experiences.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, adhering to best practices and coding standards.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure code quality and team collaboration.
• Troubleshoot and debug applications, resolving issues and optimizing performance as needed.

What we’re looking for

• Eagerness to Learn: A strong desire to learn and contribute to our mission is essential.
• Experience as a Software Engineer, with a strong focus on mobile and web application development using Flutter, Firebase and/or RESTful APIs.
• Understanding of mobile and web application architecture and design patterns, including clean architecture, microservices, client-server, or serverless architecture.
• Experience with testing frameworks or libraries relevant to Flutter development..
• Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, GitHub, Figma.

Through our innovative mobile app, we break down barriers and remove the stigma surrounding topics that drastically impact your life. Content Planner Role Overview: Wekume’s Content Planners work on a team to build out our monthly content calendars. You will report to the Social Media Lead and work closely with our Platform Managers who handle our day-to-day social media presence. Our Platform Managers have what they need at the moment they are ready to post because you will coordinate between them and our Marketing, Digital Graphics, and Videography teams. You will employ your vision and skill for future planning to build out our long term strategy.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop monthly content calendars based on approved content pillars (Education, Inspiration, Community, Fun, etc.).
2. Collaborate with writers, designers, and the social media team to ensure content ideas are aligned with Wekume’s brand voice.
3. Coordinate SRH Tip Days (Tuesdays) and Throwback Days (Thursdays) into the monthly content plan.
4. Integrate key dates like health awareness weeks, university calendars, and Wekume event dates into content planning.
5. Ensure all content is factually accurate, culturally sensitive, and age-appropriate.
6. Work closely with the analytics team to review content performance and adjust strategies for future calendars.
7. Maintain an archive of all published content for historical tracking and future repurposing.

Requirements:

1. Proven experience in content planning, social media management, or digital marketing.
2. Strong organizational skills.
3. Excellent understanding of youth culture, university life, and SRH issues.
4. High level of emotional intelligence—able to handle sensitive topics with respect and professionalism.
5. Ability to meet tight deadlines without sacrificing quality.
6. Familiarity with scheduling tools like Later, Hootsuite, or Buffer
7. Good communication skills—able to pitch ideas clearly and defend content strategies.
8. Attention to detail—a typo in a medical fact? Unacceptable.
9. Bonus: Experience working in a nonprofit, health education, or youth advocacy organization.

Bonus Points If the applicant…

1. Has experience working with youth-centered or advocacy campaigns
2. Understands sexual and reproductive health topics and how to talk about them sensitively, but boldly.
3. Has worked in a fast-paced, content-heavy environment.
4. Basic graphic design or video editing skills are a plus (Canva, CapCut, etc.)
5. Can do light design or motion graphics (Reels, carousel slides, etc.).
