Many people struggle to enjoy cycling, and some families often find the cost of adapted bikes mean that they cannot share fun times together.
Parkride is a fun and flexible inclusive cycling project using a range of adapted and standard bikes that provides anyone, regardless of age, ability or need, with the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors through cycling.
We require a volunteer van driver to help us deliver our custom-made bikes and trikes to locations such as parks and community centers around the West Midlands.
We’ve got the van; we just need you!
What would I be doing?
· You will be a vital link between us and the families we support, helping us to get the team and bikes to where they’re needed for arranged sessions.
· You’ll be the friendly face of Parkride, interacting with the families and ensuring the bikes are kept safe and secure whilst the team are out riding.
· Working with staff to load/unload the van before and after sessions.
What do I need?
· Minimum age 25
· Experience of driving a large van with a suitable driving licence
· A full and clean driving licence (held for a minimum of 5 years)
· Some lifting will be required and so a basic level of fitness is needed.
· Being approachable and friendly with good communication skills
· Accepting of others who might be different to you and the ability to work as part of a diverse team
· A willingness to learn and work within guidelines set out by Midland Mencap
· Honesty, integrity and trustworthy
· Good time management skills, reliability
· An enhanced DBS check will be required by all successful applicants.
When and where do you need me?
· The van is based at our head office in Woodgate Valley – B32 3BZ.
· We have several parkride sessions running throughout the week including evenings and weekends. Sessions vary from 2-4 hours (plus travel).
· We run sessions throughout the Midlands, including Birmingham (all areas), Dudley, Sandwell, Coventry, and Sutton Coldfield. You can choose which sessions you wish to attend.
· All sessions are weather dependent; however, we only cancel sessions in extreme weather. We would advise having a warm waterproof coat and suitable shoes.

- Children with Voices and Community Food Hub are looking for delivery volunteers to support in delivering essential food parcels to families and individuals around Hackney.
- We need regular delivery volunteers Monday - Thursday, around 12:30 - 2:30 collecting from De Beauvoir and Well Street locations and dropping food bags to addresses of housebound and vulnerable residents around Hackney. Can be by car or bike.

We are looking for volunteer drivers to join our hospice team and assist patients with getting to and from appointments. By collecting patients from their homes and bringing them to the hospice and then ensuring them get home safely, you will have a key role in the team.
Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:
- Collect patients from their homes on a prearranged day and time and bring them to the hospice
- Return patients back home at the end of the day services session, out-patient appointment or discharge from ward
- Ensure patients gain safe entry to their home
- Refer all medical, social and personal problems expressed by patients to staff
- Help with other related tasks when necessary

Monday Volunteer Van driver needed! – Hailsham

The role
We are looking for a Monday Volunteer Van driver to support our van team in our Furniture Now! Hailsham store. This role will enable us to run the van on an extra day of the week and maximise the opportunity for furniture collection/deliveries for our charity. We are a donation-based furniture store charity, and donations are vital to the running of our operations. Helping us run the van more often would help us fulfil our mission and make a big difference!
There will always be at least one van assistant (sometimes two) with you on the van. They will support you by directing you to the right location and completing admin work. Full induction and training are provided (some of which you can add to your CV!).
By joining us, you will become part of the Furniture Now! Hailsham store team made up of a Shop Manager, Assistant Manager, van driver, and van assistants as well as volunteers. Free hot beverages and biscuits are always available on-site and you will be able to join our team events!
Shift patterns
We are looking for support on Monday mornings as a priority but would be grateful to receive help anytime. The shift pattern is either a half day (morning shift: 8.30am – 12pm or afternoon shift: 12pm – 4.30pm) or a full day (8.30am – 4.30pm).

Furniture Now! is an East Sussex chain of charity furniture stores, part of the Now! Charity Group Ltd. We aim to end local poverty and fight for the environment. We act at different levels by making furniture accessible to those most in need through our special two-tier discount, working in partnership with social funds to furnish refugees’ homes, and issuing grants to environmentally and socially focused local actions.
We recently started providing free sanitary products in all 3 of our stores in a bid to end Period Poverty. We are The Children's Book Project and we work passionately to enable children to have access to books. We are just establishing our presence in Birmigham as we grow nationally and have, in 2023, celebrated gifting out 1 millionth book. We gift to children in schools and in prisons trying to tackle book poverty and give every child the opportunity to own a book of their own. Patient Drivers – Ely & Llanrumney
Patient Drivers support with City Hospice’s day center by transporting patients to and from their homes to our hospice in Whitchurch. Our patients are based across the city and often need support with transport to attend on Monday and Thursday afternoons.
By using your own car to transport our patients, you’ll be enabling them to socialise with other people, receive complementary therapies, and have some much-needed entertainment.
Our patient groups run on a Monday and Thursday between 1:30pm and 3:30pm, with patients coming from across the city. We're particularly interested to hear from prospective volunteers that live in and around Ely and Llanrumney.

Do you have time to support our patients and families? Join the ellenor family and help provide an essential service for our patients.
Location: ellenor Northfleet, local community and The Manor Hotel
Hours: Approximately 2 hours, as many days as you can spare
Times: Drop off times are 10:30am and 3pm for group activities. Therefore availability around these times is required.
Days: You can have a set day, or work on a more flexible basis, whatever you can spare.
Role
You will be picking up patients and bringing them in to ellenor for our Therapeutic Activity groups. We require patients to be brought in to the Hospice or to The Manor Hotel by 10:30am and returned to their own home at 3pm. You are not required to stay for the duration of the activity.
You may drive either your own vehicle or we will provide training to drive a company mini bus.
We also require driver escorts to help on the minibus too, who will assist patients on and off the bus for these activities.
Due to building works at the Hospice Northfleet, patients are currently attending the Best Western Manor Hotel, Gravesend.
Skills
Positive attitude and great people skills.
Full clean driving licence, if using your own vehicle you will need to produce documents for verification eg: MOT, Insurance.
If you wish to use the minibus, training will be provided by KCC, expenses for this will be covered but flexibility to attend will be required.
A DBS certificate will also be required for this role.

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is one the region’s largest and oldest charities managing over 100 nature reserves and works with many other land managers assisting them to improve wildlife. The Trust works to involve people in nature conservation through events, environmental education and community involvement.
The supporter services team is part of the Fundraising and Engagement Directorate which includes the Membership, Events, Communications and Fundraising team. As part of their work, the Supporter Services team process all new membership and are looking for a volunteer to help pack our mailing of welcome packs and other post. Ideally our volunteer will also help keep both our literature and events storeroom tidy.
What you'll be supporting us with:
- Assembling membership welcome packs for new Yorkshire Wildlife Trust members
- Packing membership packs ready for the Friday mailing
- Putting together other regular mailings to new and existing members
- Filing of confidential information
- Keeping the storeroom tidy and in order.
- Discarding any out-of-date literature.
- Putting away stock after events.
- Informing staff of low supplies.
- Help gather equipment for events.
- Help take in deliveries.
- Helping with other tasks as required.

One25 is a Bristol-based charity, specialising in supporting women to break free from street sex-work, addiction and other life-controlling issues and build new, independent lives. We provide night outreach (7 sessions weekly), a Health Hub and casework, giving person-centred support and advocacy to around 240 women each year.
One25’s outreach service is often how women first make contact with us, meeting us on our fully equipped outreach van. Three volunteers, one an experienced team leader, go out on the van at night and meet women’s basic needs by providing nutritious food, first aid, warm clothing, condoms, safety alarms etc. They provide the chance to talk and get advice in a safe space and encourage women to get more in-depth help by visiting our drop-in or seeing a caseworker.
We are looking for volunteers who are comfortable driving an Iveco Daily (manual) to deliver our evening outreach. This volunteer will also be responsible for taking case notes for the team and looking after the safety of the vehicle. The volunteer will also be responsible for speaking with the women and best practice/trauma informed.
It is an Occupational Requirement that applications for this post are open to women only, as permitted under Schedule 9, Part 1, of the Equality Act 2010. Enhanced DBS disclosure will be required.
Availability and commitments needed:
• Shifts: Monday-Thursday and Sunday nights from 8.45pm-12pm, Friday and Saturday nights 8.45pm-1.30am all year round.
• Available to commit 2 evenings per month, for at least a year
• To successfully complete a driving assessment during interview stage and when One25 gets its electric van (date tbc)
• To complete a Volunteer Induction, Safeguarding and Boundaries training (date tbc – online in evening)
• To complete the Volunteer Experience survey every 6 months
• Able to travel to and from St Pauls, Bristol after shift
• Attend probation review after 10 shifts and if requested external support (which we would fund).
• To attend quarterly training and volunteer meetings (dates tbc)

Vacancy - Chair of the Board of Trustees Barbara Bus Fund, Stanmore
The Barbara Bus Fund is recruiting for a new Chairperson.
The Barbara Bus Fund is a registered charity, which was set up in 1968 to help people who cannot get out or use public transport or an ordinary car, because they have a disability that necessitates full-time use of a wheelchair.
Today the BBF operates a fleet of 15 specially converted vehicles from Stanmore, Aylesbury and North Wales. The BBF is operated by a combination of paid and volunteer staff with head office at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore.
The role of Chair is a voluntary position with the requirement to commit to one to two days per month, attend online meetings every 6-8 weeks and the AGM. The Chair will lead the Board of Trustees, chair committee meetings and the AGM.
Previous trustee / charity experience is required and the commitment to Nolan’s seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership. Previous experience within the health / care / transport sectors will be a distinct advantage however, other relevant experience and the right attributes will also be considered.
The BBF holds an annual meal to thank the volunteers and staff, and there are other periodic meetings and events throughout the year.
