Could you play a part in what comes next for us, and share our passion for the journey ahead?

As Walk Wheel Cycle Trust, we are stepping confidently into the future and building on nearly 50 years of impact as Sustrans and Cyclebag, organisations that helped pioneer the UK’s sustainable travel movement. • Two positions available
  • Location: Flexible; hybrid meetings (in-person and remote)
  • Approximately two days a month
  • Unremunerated – with reasonable expenses paid.
  • Closing date: 23:59 on 16 November 2025
  • Reference: 81REC

We are Walk Wheel Cycle Trust.

With a new name and renewed purpose, we’re more ambitious than ever. Our purpose is simple:

To make it possible for everyone to walk, wheel and cycle, because it changes everything. Our health. Our wellbeing. Our world.

As custodians of the UK’s National Cycle Network, our mission is to build a national walking, wheeling and cycling network that brings everyone closer to the places and people they love.

Looking ahead to 2050, our aims for the National Cycle Network are bold:

  • Fix it – A seamless, safe and stunning national network
  • Love it – A network embraced by local communities
  • Green it – One that restores nature and connects us to it
  • Connect it – Linking people, places and transport options

Alongside this, we want to see thriving, well-designed communities where people are free to live, move and connect with ease — whether this is children’s journeys to school, new home developments, or making it easier to walk, wheel and cycle to catch a bus, train or tram.

It is an exciting time for Walk Wheel Cycle Trust; we have launched a new five-year strategy, placed the charity on a financially sustainable footing, and are unveiling a new brand that better reflects our purpose.
