Every Future Foundation is an anti-racist education charity committed to eradicating racism in schools. Through programmes like Champions for Change, teacher training, and the Activism Academy, we empower students, educators, and leaders to challenge institutional racism and create inclusive, equitable school environments. Our vision is to eliminate racism from the UK education system.

As we enter a new phase of growth and sustainability under our 3-Year Strategic Plan (2024-2027), we are looking for a passionate, strategic Trustee with fundraising expertise to join our Board.

Role Purpose

The Fundraising Trustee will support the Board and Senior Leadership Team in driving fundraising strategies to secure sustainable income, build key partnerships, and ensure delivery of the organisation's objectives. This role will contribute to expanding our income streams, fostering donor relationships, and strengthening EFF's financial sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

1. Governance and Strategic oversight

• Actively contribute to the strategic direction of the organisation, ensuring alignment with the 2024-2027 Strategic Plan and fundraising goals.
• Provide governance oversight as part of the Board of Trustees, ensuring fundraising activities comply with regulations, ethical guidelines, and best practices.
• Support EFF in achieving its financial targets and diversifying income streams, reducing reliance on grant funding.

2. Fundraising Strategy and Development

• Advise on and oversee the implementation of EFF's fundraising strategy, focusing on:
  • Corporate Partnerships: Develop relationships with businesses for financial and in-kind support.
  • Donor Engagement: Identify opportunities to secure major donors and philanthropic supporters.
  • Grant Funding: Support applications for project-based grants, ensuring alignment with funder priorities.
  • Earned Income: Assist in promoting paid training and consultancy services for schools and councils.
  • Mentoring: Providing mentoring and advice to the CEO and senior leadership team on fundraising applications and fundraising activities.
• Use personal networks to identify and cultivate new funding opportunities.
• Provide guidance on donor stewardship, ensuring long-term relationships are maintained and grown.

3. Advocacy and Ambassadorship

• Act as an ambassador for EFF, representing its vision and impact to prospective donors, corporate partners, and funders.
• Support the CEO and Senior Leadership Team in fundraising meetings and events, helping to articulate a compelling case for support.
• Champion fundraising priorities at Board meetings, offering challenge, advice, and support.

Person specification

Essential

• Fundraising expertise: Proven experience in fundraising, income generation, or development, particularly within the charity, education, or non-profit sectors.
• Networks and influence: Ability to leverage networks to unlock new funding opportunities and connections.
• Strategic mindset: Understanding of income diversification and sustainable fundraising models, including corporate partnerships, individual giving, and grants.
• Commitment to Anti-Racism: Passion for racial equity and a belief in the transformative power of education to create systemic change.
• Collaboration and Leadership: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the Board, CEO, and Senior Leadership Team.

Desirable

• Experience working with organisations that deliver training, consultancy, or social justice initiatives.
• Knowledge of fundraising regulations, charity governance, and the funding landscape in the UK.

Commitment

• Term: 3 years (renewable).
• Time commitment: Approximately 4-6 hours per month, including attendance at 4 Trustee Board meetings per year (a mix of in-person and virtual).
• Occasional participation in fundraising events, strategy workshops, and meetings with donors or partners.

About Us

Just Treatment organises patients to overcome corporate power and win equitable, universal access to the quality healthcare we all deserve. We work with people directly affected by health injustice and support them to step up into leadership roles, steering human story-centred campaigns that win systemic reforms. As we embark on an ambitious new four year strategy, we want to build on our powerful track record and evolve our proven theory of change so we can keep delivering winning patient-led campaigns in an increasingly hostile political, social, and economic context. Vital to realising our new strategic goals is the expansion of our board to add in diverse expertise, capacity, and support for our brilliant team at this exciting and challenging time for our work.

Purpose of the role

The purpose of the Board of Directors is to provide leadership, guidance, checks and balances on the structure and operation of the organisation.

The Board of Directors:

● Fulfils the duties and responsibilities of Company Directors

● Advises on and approves strategic plans, annual roadmaps, and budgets, and any changes to these

● Identifies any risks to the organisation and advises on these

● Advises on and approves organisational policies and commitments, including grant and commercial agreements

● Advises on and approves organisational structure, including the structure and composition of the Board and any other Boards and Committees it deems necessary

● Provides oversight on the Executive Director, including their appointment, performance reviews, remuneration decisions, and delegated powers

The Practicalities

Time commitment:

We have four full board meetings per year. Three of these are online and last for two hours, and one longer full day meeting is in person (likely in London. All costs will be covered). Directors are expected to attend these, and come prepared, having read all board papers in advance.

We have additional committees such as Finance and Governance, and Directors will be expected to join a committee. There may be other events that Directors are invited to attend, and other opportunities to get involved.

We also expect that Directors will provide ad hoc support based on their expertise and available time. We estimate the time commitment to be up to half a day per month.

● lived experience of the issues we work on

● experience leading and growing non-profit organisations in the UK, including leading their strategy and planning cycles, and fundraising efforts

● experience with different organisational forms and governance structures

● experience with shaping organisational cultures, policies and processes

● knowledge of health policy and health justice

● understanding of campaigning, advocacy, and organising practice

We are looking specifically to appoint up to three more Directors, and are seeking expertise in the following areas to add to our board:

Finance - such as small company or charity accounting, financial policies and systems.

People and Ops - such as safeguarding, HR policy and law, good practice and people development, progressive and anti-oppressive practice.

Accessibility

We encourage applications from people who are disabled or who face other oppressions or barriers. As a health justice organisation we encourage people with lived experience to join us. We also recognise the barriers that have traditionally stopped some people from getting involved with boards. Whilst this is an unpaid post, we will cover expenses such as travel or care costs that you may incur as a board member. We will also work with you to make this recruitment process as accessible as possible.

Overview
No Panic is a national charity providing desperately needed support to people suffering from anxiety.

We are seeking volunteers with experience of researching financial costs, to assist fundraisers in our Large Funding Applications Team, by providing figures they need to apply for funding. Funding that helps the charity sustain and grow the services offered to our members.

If you are enthusiastic about helping No Panic to develop further as a charity and expand the number of anxiety sufferers they support, and have experience in assessing financial costs, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding opportunity.

Activities

Research and evaluate running costs, such as salaries, rent, equipment and expenses.

Compile the figures, and present them to the Large Funding Applications Team fundraisers.

The anticipated time commitment is 3 hours a week, this may vary, and we ask our volunteers to commit to at least a year.

Desired Skills

Desirable skills would be financial research.

They should also be proactive and good at compiling researched information.

A reference is required.

Support

Large Funding Applications Team researchers will work under the co-ordination of No Panic staff. Staff will be able to advise on whether to go ahead with funding applications. Staff will also provide any information that is required. Staff will review applications before they are submitted.

We have branches across the UK, all of which help our cats in different ways. Branches take in stray and abandoned cats and ensure they receive the veterinary care and attention they deserve; help raise funds, promote neutering and help spread cat welfare messages. Our branch team leader volunteers lead their local team by supporting and managing volunteers within their group, maintaining communications with both volunteers and employees, and helping promote a positive and professional image of Cats Protection.

What we need from you

You’ll be:

• Supporting your team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure volunteers are happy and confident
• Making sure the team observes charity best practice and compliance
• Collaborating with your Branch Development Manager (BDM) to plan volunteer activity
• Leading the team to follow Cats Protection policies, procedures and guidelines
• Monitoring expenditure and helping ensure long term financial stability of the volunteer group
• Organising and chairing team meetings
• Acting as an ambassador for Cats Protectio

• Lived experience of marginalisation and deep understanding of systemic injustice and oppression, particularly from Black and LGBTQIA+ communities
• Governance and trusteeship experience, with understanding of CIC responsibilities and board effectiveness
• Executive-level experience in or with the philanthropic sector, particularly with sector-level organisations (e.g., associations of charitable foundations, funders' networks)
• Social impact and commercial acumen, bridging purpose-driven work with sustainable business models through consulting
• Community-building expertise within the social impact sector, with track record of meaningful stakeholder engagement

A bit about this role

At Cats Protection we passionately believe that neutering cats before they can breed is an essential part of cat ownership, and without neutering the UK’s cat population would quickly get out of control. Our neutering volunteers help spread positive neutering messages and make it easier for owners on low incomes to get their cats neutered. They help raise awareness of the benefits of neutering, promote our neutering schemes and respond to enquiries from members of the public.

What can you expect to be doing?

• Promoting the benefits of neutering and our neutering schemes
• Responding to enquiries about neutering
• Completing relevant neutering paperwork and distributing neutering vouchers
• Following up with cat owners to make sure that vouchers are used
• Ensuring all cats and kittens are neutered in line with Cats Protection policies and procedures
