Enjoy driving and want to help animals along the way?

We need a reliable driver to collect and deliver donations between our rescue centre in Whitminster and our charity shop in Stroud.

What you’ll be doing:

• Collecting, loading and moving donations
• Driving between sites to drop off and pick up items
• Unloading at each location and helping store items safely

What you’ll need:

• A full UK driving licence and a safe, confident driving style
• Physically fit – able to lift and carry donations
• Happy to drive our transit van or use your own vehicle

Can you be the friendly face of our busy reception? We are looking for volunteers to support our reception staff during opening hours, but especially on alternate Saturdays

What you'll be doing:

• Booking in boarding animals 
• Answering the phone and dealing with enquiries
• Sorting donations, and helping keep the reception shop tidy and well stocked

What you'll need

• Confident and helpful when talking to people, with a friendly telephone manner
• Well organised and able to multitask
• Some IT and admin experience would be helpful

Volunteering can take place between 9am-5pm Monday-Sunday, but we are especially looking for help on alternate Saturdays. 

Do you love quizzes, entertaining people and raising money for animals? We’re looking for volunteers to run our regular pub quizzes and keep the fun going.

Quizzes are held at:

• The Barn Owl, Quedgeley – 6pm on the last Sunday of the month
• The Old Crown Inn, Uley – 7pm on the fourth Wednesday of the month

What you’ll be doing: Choose from two volunteer roles at each quiz:

1. Host – Read out the questions, keep scores, announce winners and keep things lively.
2. Welcome Lead – Sign in teams, sell raffle tickets and help answer any queries.

What you’ll need:

• Confident public speaking and a clear, engaging style
• Friendly and welcoming manner
• Organised, with cash-handling experience useful

A bit about this role

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best – whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you!

What can you expect to be doing?

This is a really flexible role – you can choose what you’d like to get involved with:

• Face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins
• Online fundraising – setting up online appeals, increasing social media engagement to maximise funds raised
• Marketing – spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  
• Championing our work – getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. The role

We are looking for individuals who share our commitment to improving animal health to join our Board as lay trustees. Lay trustees (ie, trustees who are not vets or vet nurses) play a crucial role in ensuring that the Board benefits from a diverse range of perspectives and skills. 

We are particularly seeking people who have experience of: 

• Fundraising and/or leadership in the charity sector, or 

• Business development and entrepreneurship, or 

• Commercial leadership experience, with a strong understanding of business operations and strategic management, or 

• Quality Improvement in human healthcare

This is a voluntary position, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction and governance of a dynamic charity.

Key responsibilities 

• Attend and actively participate in three Board meetings each year and additional committee meetings as required. 

• Provide independent oversight and constructive challenge to the Board’s decision-making processes. 

• Ensure the charity adheres to its mission, values and legal obligations.

The Farm Animal Sanctuary is seeking a dedicated Trustee to join its board and help shape a secure future for the 600 rescued farm animals in its care. Founded nearly 40 years ago by Jan Taylor, the charity is committed to providing a safe, nurturing home for neglected and abandoned farm animals.

Who we are

On a wet February morning, Jan visited a livestock market and witnessed the horrors unfolding before them. Sick, malnourished, diseased, and deformed animals were being offered up for sale.

To this day, the charity campaigns against animal cruelty, aiming to change both legal and individual perceptions of Farm Animal Welfare.

The charity's mission is to provide a safe and comfortable home for neglected farm animals.

The Role

The Farm Animal Sanctuary invites individuals to join their small but dedicated team as they embark on an exciting journey to create a secure future for the charity and the 600 farm animals in their care. The Farm Animal Sanctuary is currently incorporating and purchasing the farm from which the charity operates.

Meetings are usually 1–2 hours long and held via Zoom, so trustees do not need to live locally — although visits to the sanctuary are always welcome. Previous trustee experience is not required, but trustees are expected to be proactive and contribute to administration, fundraising, or financial planning. An interest in Farm Animal Welfare would also be beneficial.

Our current volunteer treasurers usually spend between 2 to 4 hours per week in this role. More hours may be required at certain times, such as towards the end of the financial year but support is always available.

Our Cat welfare team leaders have the important role of coordinating, encouraging and supporting teams of fosterer volunteers and cat care volunteers. They help make sure volunteers with direct cat care roles are happy and confident and provide advice and guidance when needed. What we need from you

You’ll be:

• Volunteering alongside colleagues including the branch coordinator/team leader, Cat Welfare team, branch development manager and Vet team to ensure that cat care policies, procedures and standards are applied
• Support fosterers to follow cat welfare policies and procedures
• Acting as the main point of contact within the branch for cat welfare and ensuring that welfare updates are shared and implemented effectively
• Supporting the branch by ensuring that accurate and up to date records of all cats helped are maintained, using specified systems
• Attending relevant volunteer training sessions and encouraging other volunteers to do likewise
• With the other volunteers, recruit, induct and support all branch fosterers and cat care volunteers
• Represent the branch at relevant meetings
• Play an active part in the branch committee, being part of the branch team leading on cat adoption information and updates
• Collaborating with the cat adoption team leader to ensure the highest standards of cat care are applied in line with our policies and procedures

Time expectation

The time expectation for this role will vary depending on the number of volunteers and cats in care. Our cat welfare team leaders usually spend between 10 to 12 hours per week in this role which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.
