Structure: We provide guidance, resources, and ongoing support, but there is no fixed curriculum.

Mentees: You will be paired with a small group of mentees (typically 6–9), aged 18–26, all fluent in English.

Scheduling: Mentors arrange sessions directly with mentees at mutually convenient times.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome professionals from a wide range of industries. Our current mentors come from backgrounds including law, mental health, business, civil engineering, and architecture. Each mentor is carefully matched with students pursuing similar career paths to ensure meaningful and relevant engagement.

You do not need formal mentoring experience. We are seeking dedicated, emotionally intelligent, and inspirational professionals from around the world who bring real-world experience, strong communication skills, and empathy, and who are passionate about helping others grow.

This is not a traditional mentorship programme — it is a structured pathway designed to help young Afghan women develop the academic and professional skills needed to move forward despite the severe restrictions placed on them inside Afghanistan.

Applicants should hold either a master’s degree or a bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years of professional experience. They should demonstrate emotional intelligence, clarity in communication, and the ability to guide, inspire, and challenge thoughtfully. A reliable internet connection is also essential.

Our students have completed six levels of English and are now enrolled in one of four mentorship semesters. Each mentee follows her own unique path, whether:

• Pursuing an online university degree,

• Applying for scholarships abroad (Europe or the US), or

• Seeking remote work or internships (particularly for qualified professionals currently unable to work inside Afghanistan).

This is an opportunity to make a tangible, life-changing impact. The women in our programme are courageous, determined, and eager to learn, yet they lack access to role models and practical guidance from professionals in their fields.

As a mentor, you will help them take the next step, n whether that means applying for scholarships, building a career portfolio, or gaining the confidence and professional skills to work remotely.

Our long-term goal is to move towards a 1:1 mentor-to-student ratio, ensuring that each young woman receives the personalised support she deserves.

This flexible home volunteering role is worthwhile and rewarding. Make a real difference writing letters. As a Volunteer Penpal Writer you’ll be a key member of the Letterbox Team. Your letters will cheer someone up and establish a trusting, supportive relationship with a client who might be lonely or socially isolated.

What tasks can this role include (some or all of the following):

• Writing letters to clients
• Building trust and companionship with a client through correspondence. Omega befriends a variety of people including: caregivers, the lonely, isolated or people with ill-health.
• Liaising with the Letterbox Team by email or post.
• Respecting service standards, appropriate boundaries and recognising the policies and procedures that are necessary when befriending adults at risk.
• Making suggestions to help us improve the service we provide to clients and Volunteer Pen pal Writers.

About us: GT Scholars is a charitable social enterprise that tackles educational inequality by giving ambitious young people the support, skills and strategies they need to achieve aspirations. We run a wide range of programmes that help young people achieve their academic and career aspirations, particularly those from less-privileged backgrounds.

Victory Afghanistan is a volunteer -led nonprofit providing free online English lessons and mentoring for Afghan girls and women who are currently barred from formal education. Our mission is to equip them with the skills and confidence to apply for scholarships and university placements abroad.

We are looking for a number of volunteer IELTS Tutors to support our mentorship-level students from January to May 2026. These students already have an IELTS level of around 6.0 and now need focused preparation to achieve higher scores required for university entry.

You will be teaching bright, ambitious young women who are eager to perfect their academic English, improve their fluency, and succeed in international admissions. Lessons are held online once or twice a week, and materials can be adapted to suit your teaching style.

Commitment: 1–2 hours per week (online) depending on your availability.

About Us

The Muslim Lived Experience Network is a lived experience-led organisation committed to supporting individuals experiencing mental health challenges. We offer faith-informed peer support interventions, lived experience-related workshops and events, Islamic talks on mental health related topics, hospital ‘Muslim Faith Kits’, training, consultation, ad hoc support and signposting.

Our team is made up of dedicated volunteers united by a shared mission to attain the pleasure of Allah (SWT). Chatterbox Befrienders offer one-to-one telephone support and will call a client once a week offering companionship and a listening ear for an individual who might otherwise go unheard. Chatterbox volunteers befriend a variety of people including carers, socially isolated individuals who are struggling with loneliness, people with ill health and those that 
have been bereaved.

- Ensuring immediate contact with the Chatterbox Coordinators if you feel that the client might be a risk to themselves or others

- Liaising with the Chatterbox Coordinator on a regular basis regarding the service, as well as discussing personal learning and development needs

- Respecting service standards, appropriate boundaries and recognising the range of policies and procedures that impact on befriending vulnerable adults

One of our aims is to have every type of disability in every culture, religion and ethnicity depicted through our characters. We’ve created 11 characters so far that depict a variety of conditions. We want to look at potentially re-developing these characters and starting work on some new ones!

Volunteer Role: Trusts and Foundations

We were set up to transform the former Edward Hain hospital, in St Ives, Cornwall, into a community centre for health and wellbeing. The hospital was founded in 1920, with funds from the Cornish Hain Steamship Company. When it closed n 2021, our community, led by the hospital’s League of Friends, came together to save the building for the town. Now it brings together much needed health and wellbeing services, along with social, community and welfare support, all under one roof.

About the role

We are looking for volunteers to help us raise funds from Trusts and Foundations. Grants, such the one we secured from National Lottery, already help keep us open all year. Although previous experience in grant writing would be welcomed, it is absolutely not required. More important are your enthusiasm and desire to help local people. ideally, you will be able to volunteer at least one or two days a month on a regular basis and preferably have access to a computer.

What’s involved?

· Drafting and submitting funding applications with help and support from our team.

· Working with other volunteers and staff to identify new funding opportunities.

· Researching grant-making bodies, trusts, and foundations that can fund the Centre.

The role will suit you if you

· Are comfortable with a computer.

· Have good written communication skills.

· Want to help local residents thrive.

We will support you with

· An induction to volunteering for Edward Hain

WE Care Home Improvements is a local, independent, and award-winning home improvement agency. Our mission is to enable more older and disabled people, those on low incomes, and other vulnerable people, to get the support they can trust to live independently in the home of their choice. We are also not-for-profit. Any money generated goes back into the organisation to support our clients and help vulnerable people pay for essential works that they couldn't afford themselves.

The impact of poor housing on health and well-being is well documented. It results in significant medical need, particularly for older people and is a contributory factor to a number of health conditions. The costs to the NHS are also very significant particularly around cold and damp homes and risks of falling. Falls are the largest cause of emergency hospital admissions for older people and are a major precipitant of people moving to long term nursing or residential care.

We provide home improvement services and products to increase independence, comfort, and mobility in the home. We support everyone aged over 60, as well as people of all ages who have a disability, are on a low income or coming out of hospital. Our support includes specialist advice on home adaptations and accessible bathrooms.

We also provide home improvement and repair services in the Bristol, Bath and Northeast Somerset, North Somerset, Gloucestershire, and South Gloucestershire areas. We provide help for individuals that are leaving hospital and completing minor repairs such as fixing a leaking tap. 

About the Making Space project

​​As the name suggest, our innovative Making Space service helps people with hoarding tendencies make space in their homes. This project was developed in partnership with the Psychology Department of Bath University and is funded by Bristol City Council. Compulsive hoarding is a hidden issue and can severely impact on people’s quality of life preventing them from living safely and comfortably in their homes. Hoarding is also associated with shame and people can be reluctant to work with support services.

We offer comprehensive training to our volunteers to help them build the trust of the clients they work with and develop a more complex understanding of an individual’s life experiences (often traumas) that lead to accumulating possessions. 

Since Covid our service has experienced unprecedented demand, and we are urgently recruiting for more volunteers in the Bristol area. We are looking for committed, enthusiastic and passionate volunteers who, after training, will help empower clients to manage their clutter. We adopt a therapeutic and patient approach with everyone we work supporting them to make their homes safe and comfortable.

​​What will you be doing and how often?

​Volunteering for our Making Space project is a unique opportunity to make a difference. Not only will you be helping people struggling with hoarding make more space in their homes, but you’ll build up a supportive and trusting relationship with them helping to overcome the stigma associated with the condition:

• Empower clients to understand why they gather possessions and why they find it challenging to let go of them.
• Build a therapeutic relationship with the client and together form a plan for clearing areas of the house and organising their possessions.
• Coordinate the clearance of the client’s items; ensuring they have consented to which items are being cleared and agreed to how they are being distributed (i.e. charity shop, recycled etc.).
• The role involves working on a 1-2-1 basis with your client in their home and often alongside a Making Space Caseworker. We will apply for an enhanced-DBS check, and you need to provide us with details of two referees who will be asked to complete a detailed reference for you. 
• The length of a visit is flexible, usually 2hrs every 7-14 days with a client.
• We will review how things are going with your client every 6-9 visits.
• Volunteers will work in liaison with Caseworkers and our Volunteer Coordinator, with mutual support from other Making Space volunteers.

Personal qualities

• ​​A passion for supporting vulnerable people with complex needs.
• ​Have a warm, empathetic and non-judgemental manner.
• ​The ability to accurately record your visits, have access to email and demonstrate basic computer skills.

Alex, The Leukodystrophy Charity (Alex TLC) is a small, independent rare disease charity competing for essential resources within an extremely competitive arena.

Like many other small charities, we have grown organically from an informal support group to the recognised voice for leukodystrophy patients and their families. In order to fulfil our charitable objectives we need to increase and sustain our corporate income levels.
