The Family Mentor Project supports parents and carers in Southend‑on‑Sea, helping them to access the tools, confidence and support they need to create safe, stable, positive home environments for their children.

What Does a Family Mentor Do?

As a Family Mentor Volunteer, you will:

• Build a trusting, supportive relationship with a family or caregiver.
• Help them identify goals for their family life (e.g. routines, communication, managing behaviour, accessing local services).
• Offer practical support—signposting, encouragement, sometimes assisting with navigating social or health systems.
• Be a consistent presence: offering emotional support, listening, celebrating successes and helping find solutions when things are hard.
• Keep records (confidentially), attend supervision and ongoing training.

Who We’re Looking For

Someone who:

• Is patient, reliable, non‑judgemental, and can commit to being there over time.
• Has good listening and communication skills.
• Is organised enough to help plan sessions, set realistic goals, follow through.
• Is able to maintain confidentiality and boundaries.
• Preferably has some experience (professional, volunteering or lived) with families, children or community work—but not essential.
• Can attend occasional training and supervision.

You will be capturing all of the best moments of the festival starting from opening of the festival at one of London's icon site. Capture interviews of leaders and celebrities. Cover the screening and awards at the red-carpet awards function to be attended by OSCAR and BAFTA winning celebrities, leaders in sustainability, leading industry professionals and many more.

Main tasks include:

· Produce High Quality, engaging content in various formats tailored to specific platforms and targeted at volunteers. E.g  Developing weekly posts for our volunteer group chats, curating motivational reels, event summary posts and showcasing our projects.

· Managing our London and South Volunteer Led Instagram Account- By posting updates from our events and engaging content.

· Research new or existing social engagement strategies to apply in our volunteer groupchats

· Attending events to gather content for upcoming content creation

· Develop new and engaging content ideas to increase volunteer retention and awareness of our campaigns

· Monthly Newsletter to summarise all significant campaigns- volunteer updates.

Knowledge/Experience/Skills required:

§  A good understanding of content creation: Social media posts/reels etc.

§  A good understanding of using Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Suite, MS Office Suite

§  Pursuing a degree or equivalent in Design/Creative/Graphic Design/ Marketing/ Production or Brand management or relevant experience.

§  Effective written and oral communication skills

§  Ability to work well in a team

§  Problem solving skills

§  Ability to prioritise your workload

Brent Foodbank are looking for someone with to join the board as its new Secretary of Trustees to lead on the administrative duties of the food bank and Board of Trustees.

Key tasks

Secretary of Trustees Responsibilities:

• To ensure that there is a record of all Trustee board correspondence
• To ensure that arrangements for Trustee meetings are communicated to the rest of the board, including when and where, inviting trustees to send agenda items and providing to the board with previous meeting minutes in good time prior to the meeting.
• To ensure decisions and policy creation/adaption are clearly recorded in formal minutes, with who will do what and when as agreed by the Trustee board.
• Ensure formal minutes are taken, produced and distributed to the rest of the trustees in good time, as well as ensuring previous meeting minutes are signed by the chair once approved by the trustee board.
• To check that actions have been taken following decisions at previous meetings.
• To ensure the trustee board meets its legal obligations, including reporting, meeting charity and company law, as well as insurance requirements.
• To ensure that the annual report (to go alongside annual accounts) is produced and sent to the relevant charity regulator body (Charity Commission of England & Wales).

Key responsibilities along with the board of trustees include:

• to approve, support, and guide the charity’s purpose, vision, strategy, goals and objectives
• to manage the charity’s resources responsibly, including ensuring the charity’s assets are used only to carry out its purpose, avoid undue risk, and not over-commit the charity
• to ensure the effective and efficient administration of the charity, responding to changes in the local community as appropriate to ensure that key risks are identified, monitored, and controlled appropriately
• to ensure appropriate financial plans are in place, budgets are monitored, and progress is evaluated
• to review and approve financial statements
• to help promote the organisation to key stakeholders and beneficiaries
• to ensure the charity has appropriate procedures to comply with current legislation and good practice, including employment, health and safety, equity, diversity and inclusion, safeguarding, and GDPR compliance/data protection
• to prepare for and regularly attend and participate in board and sub-committee meetings and any Trustee away days.

• an understanding of our local community and the services, agencies, faith communities and other groups within it
