London Canal Museum is dedicated to educating and inspiring our visitors with the history of London’s canals – how they’ve shaped London’s development, the ordinary people that lived and worked on them, as well as the entrepreneurs who profited from them. We want to pass on the heritage of the canals so that future generations can learn about London’s industrial and social past.
Role Location:
London Canal Museum, 12-13 New Wharf Road, London, N1 9RT. We are a 5-10 minute walk from Kings Cross St Pancras tube and rail stations.
Role hours:
- One shift a fortnight, from 9.45am until 4.45pm
- The Museum is open Tuesday - Sundays
Role purpose:
The role of the Front of House volunteer is vital to the life of London Canal Museum – in small teams, volunteers in this role ensure the building is open and ready to welcome visitors each day, greet visitors and educate them about the museum’s exhibits and history, keep visitors safe and answer enquiries to keep the museum running smoothly across the day.
Key Tasks:
- Open and close the museum and ensure it is presentable and ready to receive visitors
- Greet visitors, welcome them into the museum and engage with them about the exhibits and history of the building
- Sell admissions, gifts and books, and ensure the till procedures are followed correctly
- Answer telephone and in-person enquiries
- Provide refreshments and assistance during group visits
- Maintain the various museum areas and ensure they are presentable
- Follow museum policies and procedures to ensure the building, volunteers, staff and visitors are safe and well at all times
- Training and support
All volunteers are line managed by the Volunteering and Training Manager, who provides comprehensive inductions and training to all Front of House volunteers in core areas including:
- Visitor Engagement
- Customer Service
- Health & Safety
- Accessibility in Museums
- Child Protection
- Retail Skills (including using the till)

Brighton and Hove Independent Mediation Service (BHIMS) is a charity that has been working to reduce conflict in the local community for over 30 years. Our core services cover community mediation and conflict coaching in Brighton & Hove, and Lewes areas, while also providing workplace mediation and training services. Operationally, we are run by a small team of paid staff, and our core work is delivered by 50+ volunteer mediators.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We currently have a very active board of 5 trustees and are looking for additional board members to expand on current skillset and help the charity deliver even better service to our community in a sustainable and optimised way.
Specifically, we need our new board members to help us secure funding for our future. While helpful, previous or current trustee board experience is not essential – while you need to be willing and able to understand and accept the responsibilities of being a trustee, this could be your first board role.

You will be preparing for and attending monthly board meetings, contributing to board discussions and decision making, and assisting in setting the direction for future fundraising efforts.
Working closely with our Chair of Trustees and Treasurer, you will:

Design and oversee our fundraising strategy; help us set goals and align our fundraising efforts to our organisation's needs, as well needs of our service users and existing funders expectations

Further help us shape and develop funding streams to resource service development – as well as source additional funding to support what is already in place

Support and actively participate in our fundraising efforts, including fundraising campaigns, from overseeing grant writing and submission to donor cultivation and advocacy

Act as an advocate, clearly articulating the organization's mission, programs, and impact to inspire others to support the cause
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

In a nutshell, at HMC, we stand up against hatred and all forms of racism, bigotry, intolerance, and prejudice. Hatred Monitoring Centre aims to regularly monitor and track online (offline) hatred campaigns ― disinformation/misinformation, learn how to anticipate violence associated with these campaigns and challenge its propagation.
To achieve this mission, HMC tries to understand and compare online debates across different socio-political and culture contexts. HMC is looking for dedicated research analyst coordinator to voluntarily support our team of volunteers working on some projects. The projects span from tracking, recording, and creating datasets of inflammatory language, hate speech and disinformation to reporting and empowering affected communities. The projects are part of HMC's efforts to understand how social media platforms are used to collectively blame minorities. Our efforts also intend to cover primarily ethnic and linguistic minorities, including but not limited to migrants and Roma (UK), the Banyamulenge (DRC), Tigrayans (Ethiopia), Hazaras (Afghanistan), Rohingyas (Myanmar), Fulani and Christians (Nigeria)…
HMC is looking for four (4) research analyst coordinators to support these teams of volunteers. The role of the research analyst coordinator involves the following taks and duties:
- Coordinate and manage volunteers’ teams: The task involves supervising the team of volunteers in their efforts to collect, record and asses the datasets in relation to hate speech and disinformation affecting minorities. Work closely with data analysts to identify mechanisms to collect relevant information from specific social media platforms or web media (this implies understanding the role of keywords to be used during the process of data collection). Research analyst coordinators will help in scheduling and splitting tasks among volunteers, set deadlines, assign responsibilities, while ensuring quality control.
- Comply with research objectivity, ethics and principles: Research analyst coordinators have the duty to make sure that the data collection and analysis comply with research objectivity, and methodological principles; but also, understand the necessity to observe data privacy and ethical issues.
- Data Collection & Monitoring: Research analyst coordinators will support the data analysts in setting up mechanisms that help in collect posts/tweets/comments, flag or archive content according to criteria (hate-speech types, target groups, severity) and will ensure that data is gathered in a systematic, reproducible way.
- Reporting & Dissemination: Research analyst coordinators will closely work with data analysts to analyse and compile the findings into reports that summarise trends, patterns and key insights―recommendations. Help in coordinating data analysts in produce visualisations (charts, graphs) to illustrate patterns. Research analyst coordinators will contribute to identifying strategies disseminate the findings.

You’ll be working with platforms such as JustGiving, Enthuse, PayPal, Stripe, Benevity, Charities Trust, and CAF, helping us reconcile transactions with our Salesforce database. By doing this, you’ll make sure supporter records are accurate, income is correctly tracked, and every donor gets the recognition they deserve.
Tasks will include:
• Reconciling weekly income from multiple fundraising platforms
• Matching donor details to Salesforce records and updating them where needed
• Supporting our fundraising teams by flagging anomalies and preparing acknowledgements
• Helping with general database clean-up, including checking fundraising page imports, households, and recurring donations

Who We Are Looking For: We are seeking an individual with strong governance and committee experience, ideally in a non-executive role, especially within charities or public bodies. You should have excellent analytical and communication skills, capable of engaging in strategic discussions and understanding complex reports. We value interpersonal skills, with proven ability to collaborate with diverse groups and influence constructively.
Important Independence Requirements: To ensure role independence, we cannot accept applications from Chartered Tax Advisers, tax-related professionals, or individuals with recent trustee, employee, volunteer, or business ties to the Institute, or close personal connections with trustees or senior management. Please declare you do not fall into these categories in your application.
Time Commitment & Remuneration: The role involves attending five to six Council meetings annually, including at least two in-person meetings in Central London, plus an annual half-day strategy session. A fee is paid for preparation and attendance at meetings and an hourly rate for other authorised work.
The Lay Representative is paid the following:
•£500 preparation, attendance (including the giving of feedback and any associated emails) for all Council meetings (whether in-person or virtual)
•£71.42 hourly pre-approved rate for all other work, which must be pre-authorised in advance by the Chief Executive via email setting out the work. Such instances are expected to be exceptional.

We are seeking a Participant Onboarding Coordinator to lead on the recruitment and engagement of our service users (participants). If you are a kind, empathetic, and organised individual who loves helping people feel at ease, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing:
This is a key role that directly impacts a participant's entire journey with us. You'll be the personal guide who helps people take that first brave step. Your duties will include:

Initial Contact: Sending warm, personalised emails or making friendly phone calls to introduce yourself and SUNSHINE, and to share our Participant Registration Form.

Friendly Assessment: Once the form is received, scheduling a brief, welcoming phone call or video chat to complete our SUNSHINE Participant Assessment Form. This is a conversation to understand their needs, preferences, and interests, ensuring they feel heard and understood.

Service Matching: Based on the assessment, you will personally suggest and invite them to 2-3 services that are a great fit for them, such as our Monthly Coffee Mornings or Digital Inclusion and Skills Programme.

First Session Follow-Up: Collaborating with our "volunteer buddies" to ensure the participant feels comfortable at their first session. Within a week, you'll follow up personally to see how they're doing and whether they would like to attend another session.

Managing the Participant Journey: Acting as a consistent point of contact for new participants, answering their questions, and ensuring a smooth transition into our community.

Data Management: Meticulously tracking participant engagement and progress to ensure our services remain relevant and effective.
