We're on the lookout for a dynamic volunteer to join us as our Youth Activity Coordinator and help bring exciting, impactful experiences to young people across London.
If you're passionate about designing engaging activities, thrive on seeing projects through from start to finish, and want to help us make a measurable difference in young lives, then we'd love to hear from you!
Urban Youth is a brand-new youth work charity being set up to build a vibrant community for young people across London. Our mission is to provide engaging youth work activities, offer positive mentorship, and create safe spaces where young people can thrive, develop new skills, discover themselves, and reach their full potential.
We're currently in a crucial setup phase, and we need your creativity and organisational skills to develop our initial programme of activities. We're looking for a dedicated Volunteer to take on the role of Youth Activity Coordinator to create, set up, and manage a range of one-off and short-term youth work activities (up to 12 weeks). This is a unique chance to be involved from the very beginning, ensuring each activity has a clear beginning, middle, and end, allowing us to track progress, evidence our impact, and avoid capacity or consistency issues during our vital startup phase.
What will you do?
In this pivotal role, you'll be instrumental in shaping the positive experiences young people will have with Urban Youth.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Activity Design: Developing engaging and impactful one-off or short-term youth work activities (e.g., workshops, skill-building sessions, community projects).
-
Structure & Planning: Ensuring each activity has a clear start, middle, and end, with defined goals and outcomes.
-
Logistics & Setup: Assisting with the practical setup and coordination of activities, including identifying resources and potential venues.
-
Impact Measurement: Incorporating simple methods to track participant engagement, progress, and the overall impact of each activity.
-
Resource Management: Helping to ensure activities are designed within our current capacity, preventing overcommitment in our startup phase.
-
Documentation: Creating clear plans and outlines for each activity that can be easily replicated and assessed.
Who are we looking for?
We need someone who is not only passionate about empowering young people but also brings practical experience in programme development or activity coordination, coupled with strong organisational skills.
You should be:
-
Youth-Focused: Genuinely enthusiastic about creating positive experiences for young people.
-
Creative & Innovative: Able to generate fresh ideas for engaging youth activities.
-
Organised & Detail-Oriented: Exceptional at planning, managing logistics, and ensuring projects are well-structured.
-
Project Minded: Understands how to plan and execute projects with clear objectives and timelines.
-
Proactive & Reliable: Someone who can take initiative, work independently, and ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
-
Committed: Willing to dedicate a few hours a week (flexible, some tasks can be done remotely) to help us build Urban Youth from the ground up. Experience in youth work, education, or programme coordination is a bonus!
This is a voluntary, unremunerated role, but it offers invaluable experience in youth programme development, charity startup operations, and the immense satisfaction of directly enabling a new organisation to make a profound difference in countless young lives.
Ready to help us create memorable youth experiences?
If you're eager to lend your skills to Urban Youth during this exciting startup phase, we'd love to hear from you!
Let's work together to create a brighter future for urban youth!
