What is the time commitment?

You'll need to set aside a couple of hours for the training initially and a few more for planning your course or group and connecting with your co-volunteer. Then you'll need a couple of hours per session for facilitating (x6 weekly sessions for a course, or x1 session per month for a group).

• Role Purpose:

Help grow the sanctuary's network of supporters by building relationships with businesses, brands, media, influencers, and community organizations to increase awareness, secure donations, sponsorships, and create partnership opportunities that support dog rescue and adoption efforts.

Responsibilities

• Research and identify potential corporate partners, sponsors, and donors
• Reach out to local and international businesses
• Develop sponsorship and fundraising opportunities

Job Purpose

To design and build the digital management systems that will serve as the operational backbone of the IFA Retreat, enabling effective management of procurement, inventory, staffing, suppliers, budgets, projects, maintenance, and reporting through a centralised platform.

About the Role

As a Volunteer Business Systems Developer, you will design and implement the retreat's management infrastructure using platforms such as Airtable, Notion, ClickUp, Monday, Odoo, or similar database solutions.

Working alongside the Operations and Procurement Consultants, you will translate operational requirements into practical digital systems that support the retreat from development through to full operation.

As a Volunteer Procurement & Supply Chain Consultant, you will be responsible for developing the procurement systems that will support the retreat's construction, furnishing, stocking, and long-term operations.

You will identify supplier categories, create procurement procedures, establish inventory controls, develop supplier evaluation systems, and build purchasing workflows that can scale as the retreat grows.

The role will involve planning procurement requirements for construction materials, accommodation furnishings, restaurant operations, retreat activities, gift shop inventory, maintenance supplies, andoperational equipment.

The successful candidate will create systems that ensure accountability, transparency, efficiency, andsustainability throughout the retreat's development.

The Coroners' Courts Support Service (CCSS) is a registered Charity whose trained volunteers give emotional and practical support to bereaved families and other witnesses attending an inquest.

This opportunity will be at both Crook and Durham so volunteers need to be willing to volunteer at both sites.

We need volunteers to provide emotional support and practical help to bereaved families, witnesses and others attending Inquests at Coroners' Court. Our volunteers at court also provide help and assistance to the Coroners' Officers, as and when required.

We are looking for reliable, supportive people with excellent communication skills. A mature and calm attitude is needed in order to be able to talk to people during a sometimes bewildering and emotional experience. Volunteers must be willing to undergo a period of observations and shadowing, as well as attend a 3 day training course. A minimum commitment of one day (9:00am - 5:00pm) per fortnight is asked for. Training and mentoring is provided and travel expenses to the court are reimbursed.

New volunteers should possess good communication and listening skills and the ability to empathise with people they support.

Play Area Maintenance Volunteer

About The Role

Washington’s amazing inner grounds have a lot of infrastructure which requires regular maintenance. By volunteering your time with us you will be helping to ensure that Washington’s play area is maintained to the highest standard for our visitors, helping families make memories in our amazing wetlands.

What will you be doing?

• This role will be varied, and will involve a lot of daily maintenance/minor repair of the play area, including:
• Inspection of play area to identify work required and ensure it is in working order (training will be given in line with our Play Inspection system)
• Cleaning of play equipment and ground surfaces using brushes, mobile jetwash and environmentally safe detergents
• Raking and replenishment of woodchip and sand
• Weeding of play area
• Identifying and undertaking minor repairs of equipment and pathways within the play area
• Managing vegetation around the play area and its pathways

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You’ll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need.

The Wren Project is a volunteer-led charity that provides free, remote, one-to-one, ongoing listening support for people in distress and living with autoimmune disease. There are over 120 autoimmune diseases currently diagnosed by the NHS and these include Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis and Crohn's disease- they are all chronic illnesses which can have life altering impacts.

Volunteers at the Wren Project provide emotional listening support to people with autoimmune disease (our Wrens). In appointments, volunteers offer listening support, where Wrens can talk about how autoimmune disease is impacting their life, without giving advice or offering solutions. Volunteers join a regular fortnightly shift during which they meet with up to 2 Wrens in two 50-minute appointments. 

Volunteers do not need to have qualifications or any knowledge or experience of autoimmune disease. We are looking for warm, empathetic, caring and resilient individuals who want to help others and have the time to offer ongoing, non-judgemental, listening support. 

We are the only charity in the UK who provide support for all autoimmune diseases. Our vision is to build support and community for all four million people in the UK diagnosed with autoimmune disease. Our service would not be possible without the commitment, empathy and support of our volunteers.

WHAT VOLUNTEERING FOR US INVOLVES:

Application and training process:

• Send an application form via our website;

• Attend a group information and discovery conversation where you will learn more about the Wren Project and the listening role 

• Applicants will be invited to participate in a remote, 5-week training programme focusing on listening skills, courageous inquiry, turning towards difficulty and living with autoimmune disease;

• A final one-to-one assessment of readiness before being matched with a Wren.

• Please note, we access an applicant’s suitability for the role throughout the process.

The role:

• Join a regular fortnightly shift, whereby you will support two Wrens in two separate, one-to-one sessions of 50 minutes via telephone/video call/online.

• A self-reflective approach to learning and development supported by staff-led reflective practice sessions. Monthly attendance required for the initial six months.

• Access to ongoing support from other volunteers and the Operations team;

• Opportunities to support the charity in a variety of additional roles.

Purpose: To secure funding for Youth Kaleidoscope by researching, writing and submitting high-quality grant and sponsorship proposals, and by tracking and reporting on grant applications and outcomes to ensure sustainability and growth.

Key Responsibilities

Grant & Sponsorship Proposals:

• Research funding opportunities from trusts, foundations, corporate sponsors, and statutory bodies. 

• Draft, tailor, and submit compelling grant and sponsorship proposals that align with Kaleidoscope mission and project needs. 

• Collaborate with relevant team members to gather data, impact stories, and supporting documents for applications. 

Grant Tracking & Reporting :

• Maintain an up-to-date log of all applications, deadlines, and outcomes. 

• Monitor the progress of applications and respond to funder queries as needed. 

• Prepare and submit timely progress and outcome reports to funders, ensuring compliance with grant conditions. 

• Analyse outcomes to inform future strategy and improve success rates. 

Additional Duties:

• Attend team meetings - 1 hour online on a fortnightly basis

• Contribute to the development of fundraising strategies and share insights on funding trends 

Essential Skills and Attributes

• Proven experience in grant writing, fundraising or bid writing (charity sector experience desirable). 

• High level of written and spoken English.

• Excellent research, writing, and editing skills with strong attention to detail. 

• Ability to interpret funding criteria and tailor proposals accordingly.

To lead, structure, and oversee the organisation’s entire Story Intelligence function, ensuring a consistent, ethical, and high-quality pipeline of verified story leads is identified, tracked, and delivered to the Outreach Team in a timely and actionable format.

This role exists to convert raw discovery activity into a coordinated intelligence system that connects research, trend monitoring, story scouting, and contact discovery into a single, structured pipeline of qualified story opportunities.

The Story Research & Intelligence Manager is responsible for designing and maintaining the systems, standards, and workflows used to identify, assess, prioritise, and hand over potential stories. This includes ensuring that all story leads are relevant, appropriately contextualised, and aligned with the organisation’s mission and safeguarding principles before they progress to outreach.

A core function of this role is to ensure clarity and alignment between the Story Intelligence Team and the Outreach Team, so that outreach activity is always based on well-qualified, well-understood, and appropriately prioritised story leads rather than fragmented or incomplete information.

The role also ensures consistency in how stories are evaluated, categorised, and prioritised, maintaining a structured pipeline that supports both short-term outreach targets and long-term narrative development goals.

Ultimately, this position serves as the strategic control centre for story discovery—ensuring the organisation maintains a disciplined, scalable, and ethically grounded system for turning public narratives, emerging conversations, and lived experiences into structured opportunities for engagement and storytelling.

The Story Research Intelligence Manager oversees the story discovery process and manages a team responsible for sourcing potential guests across social media, news outlets, podcasts, documentaries, books, charities, advocacy groups, support networks, and community organisations.

The manager ensures a consistent pipeline of qualified story leads is passed to the Outreach Team.

They develop approved systems for tracking leads, prioritising opportunities, and maintaining story databases.

Job Purpose:

To design and oversee a safe, ethical, and structured outreach system for engaging potential CSA survivors who may want to share their stories publicly or anonymously.

About the role:

This role leads the entire outreach strategy for survivor engagement across social media, podcasts, referrals, and community networks. They ensure all communication is trauma-informed, consent-led, and does not exploit or pressure vulnerable individuals.

They create safe entry points for survivors to self-identify interest in sharing their story and establish referral pathways into the production team.

They also act as the final gatekeeper before any survivor is contacted for interview consideration.

Ideal Candidate

• Experience working with trauma survivors, advocacy groups, or social impact organisations

• Deep understanding of safeguarding principles

• Emotionally mature, calm, non-reactive communicator

• Experience in ethical storytelling or documentary/podcast environments

• Comfortable working in sensitive, high-emotion subject matter

Experience

• Trauma-informed care training or equivalent lived/professional experience

• Background in NGOs, survivor support organisations, or advocacy

• Experience in safeguarding frameworks (children/adults at risk)

• Media or communications experience in sensitive storytelling

This role handles all inbound expressions of interest. They conduct gentle, structured pre-screening conversations to understand:

They do NOT conduct interviews. They prepare individuals for referral into production or therapeutic support pathways.

Ideal Candidate

• Calm, grounded, empathetic communicator

• Experience in counselling, support work, or helpline environments
