As a Community First Aider, you’ll deliver first aid to those in need through local events, as well as provide education to the public so that the ripple effect of First Aid grows.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview at our Salisbury Unit where we can explain the role in a little more detail and discuss your application. The aim of the interview is to ensure that we can meet your expectations of volunteering and that you can meet ours.

Once your pre-volunteering checks have been completed you will join our friendly team of volunteers and start your induction into the St John family. Whilst we have a great induction pack you will also be assigned a buddy who will be able to answer any questions you have and provide support until you are confident in your new role.

Are you a current Keele student looking to make a difference during your time at university? The Keele University Group is part of the Stoke and Keele Network, offering you the best of both worlds: student-led sessions on campus and access to a wide range of training and public event medical cover across the wider area.

There will be a two-day Community First Aid Course and associated e-learning to be completed for the role. There is a minimum requirement of 80 hours of volunteering per year. Keele students meet on Monday evenings during term time on the Keele Campus (location TBC). You’re also welcome to join Wednesday sessions at our partner hub located in Stoke, or the Tuesday sessions run by our neighbouring network at either Hanley or Cheadle.

We are looking to run a volunteering selection session which will begin from the week commencing 6th October.

The Roots Initiative

Finance Specialist

Why This Matters:
Our organization is poised for growth but currently lacks a clear picture of program costs, fundraising needs and financial resources. We need a volunteer to help build a multi‑year budget and financial forecast that will allow us to scale our impact sustainably.

1. Multi‑year Budget & Forecasting – Develop a five‑year operating budget that projects revenues, expenses and funding sources, aligned to our strategic and growth plans.

Founded in 2013, Release Counselling and Therapy for Women is a charity that has supported the mental health of thousands of women across Sussex.

Over the last decade, we have developed a skilled and experienced therapy team, who offer a range of services to help women address the issues life throws at them.

Our support is unique as everything we do is created and led by qualified counsellors, and we have become best known for our Therapeutic Groups and Wellbeing Days for mums.  We also run a 1:1 counselling service for women, supporting them through those other challenges in life.

We are looking for qualified female counsellors to provide 1-1 counselling online for women to deliver weekly sessions for up to 18 weeks for 50 minutes.

For counsellors offering over 3 client sessions per week, we can arrange a free monthly peer supervision group.

What are we looking for?

Deliver counselling sessions via our online system Cliniko.
Write factual client notes that are stored within Cliniko.
Raise any safeguarding issues with the Clinical Lead.

Overview of the role

Uttlesford Foodbank are seeking someone with financial experience to join the board as a trustee, who will be able to lead on financial matters, ensuring we meet our financial obligations and help us build a sound financial strategy as we move forward. This role involves leading on the financial affairs of the food bank and ensuring that they are conducted within the required legal, accounting, and good practice frameworks.

Responsibilities

As a trustee you will share collective responsibility for the governance of the food bank and all decisions made by the board, ensuring the organisation is well run, fulfils its mission, is compliant with charity law and that the charity is open and accountable. It is also the responsibility of the treasurer to work in partnership with the chairperson and other trustees to ensure the financial viability and development of the organisation.

Key tasks:

• ensure the Board of Trustees fulfils its financial responsibilities
• ensure that the food bank has proper systems for budgeting, financial control, insurance and reporting
• ensure that financial reports: are comprehensible and properly discussed at trustee board meetings; are provided in the proper format and at the proper time, as required by the relevant charity regulator body (Charity Commission of England & Wales); have properly appointed auditors or independent examiners

Other responsibilities, along with the board of trustees, include:

• to approve, support, and guide the charity’s purpose, vision, strategy, goals and objectives
• to manage the charity’s resources responsibly, including ensuring the charity’s assets are used only to carry out its purpose, avoid undue risk, and not over-commit the charity
• to ensure the effective and efficient administration of the charity, responding to changes in the local community as appropriate to ensure that key risks are identified, monitored, and controlled appropriately
• to ensure appropriate financial plans are in place, budgets are monitored, and progress is evaluated
• to review and approve financial statements
• to help promote the organisation to key stakeholders and beneficiaries
• to ensure the charity has appropriate procedures to comply with current legislation and good practice, including employment, health and safety, equity, diversity and inclusion, safeguarding, and GDPR compliance/data protection
• to prepare for and regularly attend and participate in board and subcommittee meetings and any trustee away days.

The Vacancy:

Emersons Green Village Hall is seeking to recruit a Chair of Trustees to build upon our success to date, provide visionary strategic leadership and steer the charity through its next stage of development and growth.

This is a voluntary role with a minimum time commitment of approximately five hours per month. We have up to six scheduled bi-monthly Board Meetings, which last up to two hours and are usually held on Tuesday evenings. In addition we have Committee Meetings to deal with faniances and operations, plus our AGM.  Meetings are held via Miscrosoft Teams or in-person at Emersons Green Village Hall. 

The Role of the Chair:

The Chair’s role is to lead the Board of Trustees, providing strategic oversight and governance, and creating a positive and inclusive culture. The Chair will be actively leading on shaping the future of our Hall, developing the business, and setting its strategic direction to ensure financial viability for the future.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a wide variety of skills who can be an enabler to oversee the charity and build on the progress we have made to date. Ideally you will have experience of being a Trustee. We are also looking for individuals with leadership, management, and organisational development skills. Experience in the voluntary sector, community facilities or running community projects would also be beneficial.

As a ‘hands-on’ Chair, you will bring your experience and skills to the role and will be supported by the Trustee Board, plus an established staff team including the Hall and Events Manager, plus the Treasurer and Company Secretary.
