This is a key governance role.
What we’re looking for

Our busy Homework Club is part of our delivery of child and family support services, in order that low income and vulnerable families have improved access to services, employment opportunities and life chances.
In response to requests from parents and young people, the Centre provides after-school Homework and Study clubs during term time. Children from three local primary schools, and a few from Year 7 attend the club. Many come from families where English is a second language.
Volunteers sit on a table with 1 or 2 children and provide help with their homework, maths and English work mostly, and some reading. Volunteers commit to one session a week on Friday (3.30 – 5.30pm).
Our Mission
Each Person Matters: The Cardinal Hume Centre enables families, children and young people to overcome poverty and avoid homelessness.
What are we looking for?
- Ideally you have some experience in teaching, either professionally, voluntary or at home with your own children.
- You are friendly, patient and can have rapport with children easily.
- Able to help with maths and English at primary school level.
What is the time commitment?
- Ideally at least one academic term
- Fridays, 3.30 – 5.30pm at The Cardinal Hume Centre and we are trialing an outreach sessions at a local Library & Hotel on otger weekdays
How will you be supported?
- You will be supported by the Family Services staff team.
- You will have access to wide range of e-learning topics. Child safeguarding and fire safety awareness is mandatory for all new volunteers.
- You will be reimbursed for travel expenses.
The Centre enables families, children and young people to overcome poverty and avoid homelessness.

About Bank.Green
Since the Paris Agreement, global banks have poured a staggering $6.9t into the fossil fuel industry. At Bank.Green, our mission is to lower this vast carbon footprint via technology and consumer action. We empower bank customers with the tools and insights they need to influence their banks towards sustainable lending, or switch to greener alternatives. To date, our bank-checking tool has been used over 500,000 times by bank customers worldwide, while we have shifted a at least $35,000,000 towards banks who are financing a greener future.
Through transparency, engagement, and innovation, we aim to redefine the role of banks in the fight against climate change.
Role Overview
We have a need for a senior Frontend Engineers to take ownership of the Bank.Green frontend website. The website is builtin Vue.js with Nuxt.js and deployed via Cloudflare. We use prismic.io as a headless CMS and connect to internal graphQL and REST APIs. Because of the large number of pages (~5000) we serve, we have to pay special attention to our prismic.io CDN traffic and caching with automated builds.
Taking ownership of the website will mean:
- understanding the vue.js lifecycle
- understanding cloudflare deployment
- understanding the nuxt build pipeline
- carefully authoring and reviewing PRs
- mentoring more junior frontend developers
For internal communication, we use slack, linear.app, and, when necessary, MS365.
Functionally, the website allows users to see how their current bank, and potential new alternative banks, rank on environmental issues - primarily fossil fuel and related sectors support. It also provides suggestions on how to talk to your current or potential future bank about your environmental concerns.
Commitment
This role is unpaid and volunteer-based. We are seeking a commitment of 10-20 hours per week. We are looking for somebody to come on long-term, for at least a 6 month commitment.
We know that this a lot to ask. Bank.Green is a passion project of many people including other developers and data scientists. Many of our volunteers who are a) (f)unemployed and want to keep their fingers warm by doing something good for the world, b) otherwise trying to break into tech or environmental fields. We hope that you’re coming with some industry experience for this particular role.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Frontend Engineer, preferably in a mid to senior level capacity.
- Proficiency in JavaScript programming language.
- Familiarity with Vue.js + Nuxt is nice to have but experience with React+Next also works well
- Experience working with and mentoring more junior colleagues
- Experience working asynchronously with colleagues in different time zones - through Slack, MS Teams, or similar.
- Experience working in Agile environments and using collaborative development tools (e.g., Linear or Jira, Git).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Passion for sustainability and environmental advocacy.

We’re looking for three volunteers over the age of 18 years old, to provide communication support to stroke survivors at one of our Support Groups, which is based at Ashwell House, 167 Verulam Road, St Albans AL3 4DW.
You’ll be volunteering:
For one and a half hours a week every week, between 10:30am and 12:00pm, in blocks of 8 sessions.
We are looking for communication service supporters to assist stroke survivors in developing their communication skills in a group setting.
The volunteers will:
· Be an effective communication service supporter you need great listening skills and be able to support people in an empathetic and non-judgemental way.
· Be willing to learn and use the technique, called ‘supported conversation’, that is used to support people with communication difficulties.
If you are someone who enjoys conversation, meeting new people and likes to try new things, then this role might be a good one for you.
A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this role.

What will you be doing?

Ace of Clubs (AoC) is an independent charity based in Clapham that supports individuals experiencing homelessness. We serve up to 200 hot meals a day to adults who are homeless, hungry or facing adversity.
With a small staff team, we need more volunteer help to support our admin - this includes writing emails, helping with communications or writing reports. You will be helping out in areas such as fundraising, communications and charity co-ordination. As this role requires significant writing, it is essential that you have a high standard of written English and have close attention to detail. You also need to be competent on using Microsoft packages.
Hours can be flexible during the working day Monday to Friday depending on your commitments. Ace of Clubs (AoC) is an independent charity based in Clapham that supports individuals experiencing homelessness. Each day we serve a hot meal to around 200 adults who are experiencing homelessness, adversity and hunger. Alongside this we offer a range of other direct services including showers, clothing, laundry, health support and advice.
This role is ideal for individuals looking to make a positive impact in the community while gaining valuable insight to the health/social care sector at a longstanding direct-service charity. As a Volunteer, you will mainly support our delivery of a high quality lunch service.
