As a Trustee, you will share responsibility for the governance of the British Thyroid Foundation (BTF) and will fully understand the charity’s purpose as set out in its governing document. You will have strategic oversight of the planning for what the charity wants to achieve and be able to explain how our activities support our objectives. You will always act in the BTF’s best interest and ensure accountability within the charity. You will comply with the charity’s governing document, manage the charity’s resources responsibility and act with reasonable care and skill.

Nina Energy

At Nina Energy, we believe that some of the world’s most inequitable regions hold the greatest potential for climate solutions. Across the Global South, smallholder farmers struggle with low incomes, high costs, and limited access to technology — yet they live surrounded by abundant biomass that today is often wasted or burned.

Our vision is to democratize access to biorefinery technology, enabling rural communities to transform agricultural residues into biochar, renewable energy, and carbon credits. By doing so, we turn environmental liabilities into local assets: healthier soils, cleaner air, reduced fossil fuel dependence, and new revenue streams.

As a volunteer, you will join us in building this movement from the ground up — not only developing technology, but also co-creating training programs, cooperative models, and inclusive businesses where women and youth lead. Your skills can directly help us design, scale, and share solutions that bring climate justice and economic resilience to the communities that need them most.

We are not just building machines. We are building a network of community-owned biorefineries across the Global South — hubs of climate action, education, and empowerment. With your support, we can ensure that carbon-negative technologies are not reserved for the wealthy few, but become tools for the many.

Finance Assistant (Financial Planning & Analysis)

We are Nina Energy Limited (UK) with operations in Ecuador. We seek a volunteer passionate about climate finance to build an integrated financial model for our modular biorefineries and products (biochar, thermal energy, biocoke/torrefied biomass, pellets, carbon credits).

You will: Build a 3-statement + project finance model (P&L, CF, BS) with scenarios. Model unit economics and cash-flow waterfalls per product/site (CAPEX, OPEX, MRV/issuance fees, pricing, offtakes). Quantify IRR/NPV/Payback by line of business; sensitivity analyses (capacity factor, feedstock cost, heat sales, credit price). Produce investor-ready outputs: summary dashboard + 2-page investment memo. You are not doing bookkeeping; this is an analytical FP&A/project-finance role.

Sharing Seeds

We are a non-profit organization empowering rural communities in Nepal through organic Arabica coffee farming, beekeeping, and women-led community tourism.

Across Nepali villages, many young people migrate to other countries in search of better income, often working in harsh, risky conditions for very little pay—and sometimes losing their lives. At Sharing Seeds, we encourage local youth and women to rediscover opportunities at home by engaging in sustainable cash crop farming and community-based enterprises.

By promoting modern agricultural practices, we help farmers transform unused land into thriving organic coffee and beekeeping ventures. At the same time, we create fair-wage opportunities for rural women, enabling financial independence and stronger families.

Based in Sarangkot Pandeli village near Pokhara, Nepal’s tourism capital, Sharing Seeds is building a future where communities flourish through sustainable farming, women’s empowerment, and authentic tourism experiences.

Graphic Designer (Leaflet)

This is the role for the interested creative volunteer with great experience in graphic design, who can create an outstanding tour flyer for our day tour, which will be combined of mountain biking and visiting our community for the local Nepali lunch and coffee tasting experience, which is produced locally by us. We need this sticker to design and print as a flyer, which will be (12 inch by 18 inch ) and one-third of an A4 design leaflet.

Work and Skills in an online personal development programme aimed at providing people living with HIV who are unemployed or in unsuitable work with online peer support, online work ready workshops and online 1-2-1 employment mentoring.

The online employment mentor is an integral part of the support structure for each individual, providing space for the participant to ask questions, set goals and plan how to achieve them, explore work and volunteering ideas, reflect on their skills and gain feedback on job/volunteering applications and interview technique. 

Trustees play a vital role in ensuring Edinburgh North East Foodbank meets its core purpose by overseeing the management and administration of the charity and ensuring that the foodbank has a clear strategy in line with our vision and goals.

What will you be doing?

Trustees have collective responsibilities for the oversight and development of the Charity in conformity with OSCR regulations and applicable law. The Trustees agree strategy and governance arrangements and work with the staff to deliver Edinburgh North East Foodbank services efficiently and effectively.

What being a Trustee Involves

We hold five Board meetings a year, normally the last Tuesday in the month from 6pm until 8pm, with our AGM being held in April/May.

Trustees are expected to attend the Board meetings either in person or remotely as often as possible, with everyone attending the AGM.

Trustees are not expected to attend the Foodbank frequently but are encouraged to visit from time-to-time to become familiar with the work of the Foodbank and to speak with staff and volunteers.

Trustees should make time to build up relationships with, get to know their fellow Trustees, staff and volunteers to foster a team spirit and understand the challenges that colleagues face and the responsibilities they carry.

Trustees should try to keep up with external developments and trends that might impact the work of the Charity. This will help with Board discussions and understand what could present as threat or opportunity for the Charity.

As a Board we need to be aware that the governance landscape is always changing. Trustees need to learn and develop and stay abreast of the new developments, best practice and legislation.

Governance

The Trustees must make sure that the Charity complies with its governing documents. (Charity Constitution) and complies with charity law requirements and regulations that apply.

Ultimate responsibility for the governing of Edinburgh North East Foodbank lies with the Trustees who must direct how it is managed and run. Trustees must act in the Charity’s best interest, manage its resources responsibly, act with reasonable skill and care, maintain oversight and make sure that it is working towards its charitable objectives.

It should be noted that some people may not act as a Trustee e.g. someone who is bankrupt or has an unspent conviction for offences involving dishonesty or deceit.

Trustees must declare if on any occasion they have a personal interest which may conflict with the interest of the charity.

What are we looking for?

We rely on the dedication and expertise of the people who volunteer to become board members. We welcome applications from people who have an interest in a society where everyone has the means to buy the essentials and so reduce the need for using food banks.

Skills and experience that are particularly useful are:

• Strategic Management

• External Communications and/or Public Relations
• Fundraising & Financial Management

• Working with the Government both local and central.

Previous experience of being on a Board is useful but not essential.

Role Summary

Mast Cell Action is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Volunteer Graphics Support Coordinator to assist with designing engaging and visually compelling graphics for our social media platforms and art work our resources in Canva. This role plays a key part in helping us raise awareness about Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) and fostering a sense of community. We are looking for someone who is experienced in the workplace and can work on their own initiative within design guidelines provided by Mast Cell Action.

Key Responsibilities

• Artworking of our resources to produce visually appealing leaflet, hand-outs and resource packs within Mast Cell Action design guidelines.
• Design, formatting and layout of leaflets, flyers and information packs, including digital and printed versions.
• Design graphics for social media posts, stories, and campaigns in line with the Mast Cell Action branding guidelines.
• Collaborate with the social media team to understand content needs and ensure timely delivery of assets.
• Support the development of visuals for ongoing campaigns, such as "MCAS is..." and "Please Don't Test Me."
• Create eye-catching visuals for announcements, events, and educational content.
• Maintain and organise a library of graphics for easy future access and use in Canva.

Skills and Experience

• Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, or similar), Must be willing to use Canva for artworking resources
• A keen eye for design, colour, and typography.
• Ability to interpret and work within brand guidelines.
• Strong ability in design layout and formatting skills, especially for printed materials. Proficient at arranging text and images into a page in a visually appealing, readable and accessible format.
• Ability to interpret briefs and translate them into creative designs.
• Strong organisational and time management skills to meet deadlines.
• Passion for raising awareness and supporting communities affected by health challenges (knowledge of MCAS is a plus but not required).
