You will visit once a month to provide them a consistent, adult relationship which is independent from the institution and from social services. This is an opportunity for the young person to share their hobbies and interest and to talk about their worries and feelings if they are ready to do so.

We'll provide full training, all your expenses and ongoing support from dedicated staff.

Now in its 18th year, CleanupUK is embarking on a growth phase. As a result, we would like to attract people to CleanupUK’s board as trustees who have varied and diverse backgrounds and experience. You will likely feel passionate about the issue of litter and also about its impact on communities.

We are currently looking to recruit three new trustees who are prepared to devote their time and energy to helping CleanupUK grow into the next stage. The three skill sets we are looking for are :

About CleanupUK

CleanupUK was founded in 2007.  We are a young and ambitious charity with a strong sense that whatever we do, be it organising a litter-pick or holding a trustees’ meeting, should be fun. CleanupUK's major thrust is to help people who live in less affluent areas to get together, go out and pick up the litter in those parts of their community that the local council doesn't cover and so make their community not only cleaner but also stronger and safer. We also encourage and support volunteer litter-picking groups generally, wherever in the UK they are.

The main thing we need you to do is cheer! You will be a vital part of race day, supporting 282 Shelter runners from the side lines. You’ll need to help create a high energy, friendly atmosphere, motivating everyone on race day to do their best.

Volunteering at this event is also an opportunity to have fun, meet new people and experience some wonderful community spirit whilst contributing towards our mission.

The Role – Treasurer

As Treasurer and Trustee, you will play a key role in helping us achieve our mission. You will:

· Oversee the charity’s financial strategy and health, ensuring good governance and sustainability.

· Chair our Finance Sub-Committee and lead Board discussions on finance, investments, reserves, and risk.

· Support and challenge the CEO and Finance Director, providing strategic advice and guidance.

· Help drive long-term impact by ensuring robust financial planning aligns with our services for older people.

You will work closely with a committed group of Trustees and a skilled management team, making a meaningful contribution to the community.

What We Are Looking For

We’re keen to hear from people who:

· Are qualified accountants (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) or experienced senior finance professionals.

· Have excellent financial acumen, with the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.

· Have some experience of charity finance, fundraising and pension schemes.

· Have an interest in good governance and strategy and are effective team members.

· Share our commitment to improving the lives of older people and promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Experience as a trustee is helpful but not essential - support and induction will be provided.

Time Commitment

· Board of Trustees: Meets 4 times per year (evenings, hybrid).

· Finance Sub-Committee: Meets 4 times per year (Treasurer chairs).

· Additional availability to liaise with the Chair, CEO, and Finance Director (typically monthly).

· Attendance at the Annual General Meeting and Annual Away Day.

Total commitment: approx. 6-8 days annually with flexibility and remote options.

We provide a preparation course for all volunteers before they start to visit families, which covers all the essential training and information you will require.

You will work alongside the Pantry Coordinator and other volunteers to help create a welcoming, dignified, and well-managed space for local members. About this key role
As our Pantry Volunteer, you will help with specific Pantry needs such as stock rotation, manual handling, speaking to clients, and making them feel comfortable within The Pantry.  You will carry out and comply with all health and safety procedures and policies, ensure all labelling of food items are correctly displayed and ensure any items are within the correct date for displaying.

What we are looking for

• Previous experience of working within a retail and customer-facing role.
• Supporting the daily running and operation of the Pantry.
• Supporting the Pantry coordinator ensuring the shop is well-stocked, clean and presentable.
• To carry out and comply with all health and safety procedures and policies, including food safety and manual handling.
• To ensure all food items are correctly labelled and within the given use-by date.
• Positively supporting members and always maintaining confidentiality.
• To assist customers to choose their shopping items and to complete simple forms.
• On occasion, offering meal planning advice along with recipes and food shopping tips.
• Helping to unload deliveries and ensuring food is correctly stored.

Please note: this role requires that successful candidates must undergo an Enhanced DBS check, on the basis that the post involves contact with vulnerable participants and colleagues.
