About Breck Foundation
Breck Foundation is a UK child online safety charity founded in 2014 in memory of Breck Bednar, a 14-year-old boy who was groomed and murdered by someone he met online. Everything we do is driven by a simple but urgent mission: to prevent this from ever happening again.
Since our founding, we have reached more than 335,000 people in person or on video, including over 276,000 children and young people. Through our school programmes, professional training, parent engagement and policy advocacy, we work across whole communities to build the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to keep children safe online.
We are now preparing to launch a new growth strategy, and this is a genuinely exciting moment to be joining us.
About the role
We are looking for an exceptional individual to serve as our new Chair of Trustees, following the stepping down of our current Chair after three years of dedicated service.
As Chair, you will lead the Board of Trustees and work in close partnership with the Chief Executive to provide strategic oversight and governance of the charity. You will play a central role in shaping and delivering our new growth strategy, helping us extend our reach, deepen our impact and grow our influence on the policy landscape.
This is a voluntary role with a time commitment of approximately 1 day per month, to cover quarterly Board meetings, sub-committee involvement, regular contact with the Chief Executive and occasional attendance at Foundation events.
A full recruitment pack, including details of all responsibilities and how to apply, is available to download via the link on this page.
What we are looking for
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. You do not need to have been a Chair before. If you bring the right skills, values and commitment, we would love to hear from you.
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
Our commitment to diversity
We are committed to building a Board that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. We would particularly encourage applications from people from LGBTQAI+, Black, Asian or minority ethnic communities.
How to apply
Please download our recruitment pack for full details of the role and application process.
Applications close at 10am on Tuesday 1 September 2026.
Initial video interviews w/c 7th September 2026.
Please use your cover letter to explain how you meet the requirements of the role description.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
Our Chair plays a vital role in making sure that Possible achieves its core purpose. They provide leadership and direction to the board of trustees, enabling effective governance of the charity, and they closely manage the Director team to support—and challenge—them to achieve their vision for the organisation.
Possible is about to embark on its next phase as an organisation with the implementation of its new four year organisational strategy. This is a really exciting, important time to join the team in such a pivotal role, and have a real impact on the successful delivery of this work.
As our new Chair, you’ll lead the team of trustees, ensuring they provide on-going strategic direction, critical challenge and helping hands to ensure we continue to land our work with the size of impact the climate crisis demands. You’ll also work closely with Possible’s Co-Directors, offering more detailed support and oversight. We currently have a team of two Co-Directors, rather than one ED, but appoint one as a Lead Director on a rotating basis to lead liaison with the board.
We are looking for someone with prior experience of serving on a charity board and demonstrable leadership experience. However, you do not need experience of being a Chair if it is clear that you are ready to step up, and you do not need experience working in the climate sector, either, although we are looking for someone with knowledge of it.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
We are looking for a fundraising expert to join our external Finance Committee. In particular we’re looking for someone who can interrogate plans and performance, with experience of the marketplace and the need for fundraising investment. The Finance Committee is responsible for monitoring the financial performance of the full portfolio for the organisation. It plays a key role in protecting the financial health and sustainability of Samaritans and our vision that fewer people die by suicide. The Committee is a formal advisory committee of the Board of Trustees and reports on its work, conclusions and recommendations to the Board on a regular basis.
We are seeking applicants who will provide independent and effective advice to help the committee fulfil its responsibilities in:
Applicants for this role should have experience of senior fundraising roles.

Location: The role is home-based and may involve some travel within the UK. As a minimum, attendance is required at four committee meetings, either in person or online.
Remuneration: The role is voluntary.
Application process: Applicants are to return a copy of your CV with a completed application form by Monday 17 August containing a personal statement how you meet the experience, knowledge and skills set out in the role description. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to interviewonline w/c 24 or 31 August.
About Samaritans
Our vision is that fewer people die by suicide. Samaritans is the charity that prevents suicide through the power of human connection. We provide compassionate listening services to people in emotional crisis, 24/7. We combine evidence with lived experience to influence decision makers to tackle the underlying causes of suicide. We change attitudes and encourage people struggling with suicidal thoughts to seek support.
Together we can prevent suicide today. Because tomorrow’s too late.
