St John’s Lichfield is an almshouse charity with origins going back to 1495 whose main object is to provide accommodation for poor persons in need.Whether you are an experienced trustee or want to take on this work for the first time, we would very much like to hear from you.
Due to the recent retirement of long serving members we are looking for enthusiastic new people to join our Board of Trustees.
St John’s Lichfield is an almshouse charity with origins going back to 1495 whose main object is to provide accommodation for poor persons in need. We own and manage 42 apartments, which are designed for comfortable and independent living, on 2 separate sites in Lichfield city centre: one in the Cathedral Close, the other at St. John’s without the Barrs (SJWTB) which includes its own chapel. At present we have an active and thriving community of 47 residents whose ages range from 44 to 93, though we have no restriction on age.
Our constitution also allows us to make grants to individuals in need or to organisations which provide help for such persons. All of our beneficiaries must already be resident in the Diocese of Lichfield.
We rely on our investments to supplement the maintenance contributions received from our residents.
Whether you are an experienced trustee or want to take on this work for the first time, we would very much like to hear from you.
While we would be pleased to have people with skills in finance and accounting, business, capital projects, social care and the benefits system, what matters most is an interest in our charity, its history, its buildings and its people, and a desire to make a difference to our residents’ lives.
As a Trustee you will benefit from:
· induction, training and reimbursable expenses,
· opportunities to make strategic decisions, develop new skills and Influence the shape of new projects, and
· having the chance to improve health and wellbeing of all those within the St. John’s community.
The expected time commitment is attendance at 6 Trustee meetings per year which normally last for 2 hours, one full day strategy meeting and potentially some committee work. We also find that attendance at residents’ functions which are held regularly, the annual Christmas lunch and the Patronal festival enhances the enjoyment of the role for most Trustees.

Thames Reach Housing is the registered provider subsidiary of Thames Reach Charity, a leading London-based charity with a particular focus on rough sleeping, and helping people who are, have been, or are at risk of rough sleeping to find decent homes, build supportive relationships and lead fulfilling lives. The charity provides innovative services aimed at preventing rough sleeping, intervening where people are sleeping rough, and helping people to recover from the impact of life on the streets. As well as street outreach work, services include tenancy support, emergency shelters, day services, hostels and accommodation, and help with health and employment. We work across London and South East England.
Thames Reach Housing completed the process of registration with the Regulator of Social Housing in February 2023 and has taken ownership of one of the hostels managed by Thames Reach Charity. Becoming a registered provider offers the opportunity to consider the transfer of other hostels and supported housing schemes where this is the best way to secure their future; as well as possible ownership of new hostel and supported housing developments where revenue funding is available.
The Thames Reach group (Thames Reach Charity and Thames Reach Housing) is a strong organisation that is growing in response to need. Our services are rooted in our understanding of the issues surrounding street homelessness, and we use this understanding to influence decision making at a local, regional, and national level. We have an excellent reputation for effective service delivery, working with people who may have very high levels of need, and using our experience of delivering services to develop and improve our approach. The majority of our services are delivered to local and regional authorities on a contract basis and we understand that our continued effectiveness requires us to sustain and develop our financial viability; and to retain and grow our excellent employees and volunteers.
The group has just over 400 employees and around 150 volunteers, and our turnover is around £28 million per year. The employees at the hostel which is owned by Thames Reach Housing are employed by Thames Reach Charity under a local authority contract. Thames Reach Housing therefore does not have any direct employees and its key function as the owning registered provider is to ensure the delivery of high-quality accommodation that supports the work carried out by Thames Reach Charity.
Thames Reach Housing has an effective and experienced non-executive board. They are supported by group sub-committees shared with Thames Reach Charity with a focus on the specific areas of Governance and People, Finance, Audit and Fundraising, and our Services. The Board meets around four times a year and participates in an annual group awayday in the autumn. There are currently three board members; one Thames Reach Housing Board member is shared with the Thames Reach Charity Board, and acts as the link between the Finance, Audit and Fundraising and Governance and People sub-committees. The Chair and other Board member are independents, not forming part of the Thames Reach Charity Board structure.
We are now looking for a new independent member, with an interest in and commitment to ending street homelessness and the ability and interest in providing strategic oversight for Thames Reach Housing.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who may be considering becoming a Board member for the first time and we want to prioritise interest in homelessness and understanding of how housing associations operate above existing governance experience. We are able to provide governance support and training to new Board members and you would be joining a board with considerable governance experience aligned with a competent Thames Reach Charity senior team to support you in your role.
Thames Reach is committed to achieving a diversity that reflects the communities we serve. We value, respect, and celebrate diversity. We welcome and encourage applicants from all sections of the community regardless of their history of homelessness, sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, or religious belief. We particularly welcome applicants who may have experience of homelessness and/or of using services that support people with complex support needs.

Join the UK’s first purpose-driven travel social enterprise officially incorporated as a CIC. Use your grant writing expertise to secure the funding that empowers underrepresented individuals, builds schools, and protects vulnerable global environments.
About Us
We are innovators, not just traditional philanthropists. We believe that creating self-sustaining funding models is the most effective way to support community agency, which is why we use the power of global travel as a purpose-driven engine for measurable, self-sustaining good.
We operate a unique, dual-impact framework: an inclusive empowerment programme for underrepresented UK individuals, and our flagship global tourism initiative. What makes us radically different is our legal structure. 100% of our organisation's retained surplus is legally asset-locked to our social mission. Every journey facilitated through our network actively funds our 'Four Pillars of Change' directly in developing destinations, such as our flagship 'Made From The Mekong' digital literacy and environmental project.
The Role
While our sustainable travel initiatives fund our ongoing social operations, we are seeking a highly strategic Grants & Bid Writer to spearhead our external funding strategy. You will help us scale our impact by securing social enterprise grants, community development funds, and innovation awards.
You will be responsible for:
Strategic Bid Writing: Translating our complex dual-impact model into compelling, successful grant applications for social enterprise and community impact funders.
Funding the Future: Securing capital to fund our core social mission expansions, including scaling our digital literacy programmes and on-the-ground initiatives.
Partnership Sourcing: Identifying new Trusts, Foundations, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partners whose values align with our radical transparency and ethical ethos.
Pipeline Management: Tracking application deadlines and maintaining a clear, organized pipeline of funding opportunities.
Why Join Us?
We respect that our volunteers are high-level professionals. By joining Yule Travel Group CIC, you gain:
Strategic Autonomy: You won’t be handed a list of mundane tasks. You will be given a blank canvas to build and execute enterprise-grade funding strategies.
Measurable Global Impact: Your writing doesn’t just raise awareness; it secures the capital that builds schools, funds micro-finance, and supports independent livelihoods.
Innovation-First Experience: We operate with the focus of a modern social enterprise. You will gain hands-on experience utilizing cutting-edge digital tools to scale your output.
Ultimate Flexibility: We operate a 100% remote, asynchronous workspace. You complete your hours on your own schedule, from anywhere in the UK.
A Prestige Portfolio Piece: Coming in at the ground floor of a pioneering social enterprise is a uniquely powerful case study for any professional portfolio.
Our mission: ending economic leakage in tourism, ensuring every journey becomes a powerful funding engine for measurable global impact.

About Us
We are innovators, not just traditional philanthropists. We believe true equality is achieved through financial empowerment and independent ownership. Yule Travel Group CIC operates a unique dual-impact framework: our flagship global tourism initiative, and our Inclusive Empowerment Hub.
Crucially, 100% of our organisation's retained surplus is legally asset-locked to fund global sustainable development, such as our flagship 'Made From The Mekong' project.
The Role Working closely with our Head of Marketing, you will be the driving force behind our partnership network. This role is highly dynamic, spanning three key impact channels:
Inclusive Ambassador Outreach: Crafting outreach campaigns to champion and recruit underrepresented voices (including disabled individuals, LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs, and widows). You will pitch our 'Ethical Empowerment Framework,' highlighting our financial protection and our commitment to helping participants achieve true financial independence and ownership.
Global Ethical Alliances: Helping to expand our network of over 200 global partners by identifying and pitching to organisations to secure equitable trade agreements that align with our social mission.
Social Enterprise Distribution (Made From The Mekong): Assisting our ground teams in Southeast Asia with B2B outreach, pitching our locally produced, upcycled river-plastic goods to ethical hotels and cruise providers to support the local circular economy.
Why Join Us? We respect that our volunteers are high-level professionals. By joining Yule Travel Group CIC, you gain:
Strategic Autonomy: You won’t be handed a list of mundane tasks. You will be given a blank canvas to build and lead a high-impact partnership strategy across domestic and international markets.

Innovation-First Experience: Gain hands-on experience in a digital-first social enterprise utilizing cutting-edge tools.

Help us transform how the world travels! We are a pioneering travel social enterprise using global holiday getaways to fund community-led development and environmental regeneration. We need a visionary Head of Marketing to lead our brand strategy, proving that every journey can make a real difference.
The Mission: Reshaping the Journey
The travel industry faces a significant 'economic leakage' problem. While billions are spent on global holidays, only a tiny fraction reaches the local communities hosting those journeys. Yule Travel Group CIC exists to change that narrative.
We operate a unique, dual-impact model:
The Inclusive Empowerment Hub: Providing underrepresented UK individuals with the tools, mentorship, and ethical framework to build independent livelihoods as advocates for sustainable tourism.
Global Impact Initiatives: Our retail arm that facilitates world-class international holidays for the public, where 100% of the retained surplus is legally locked to fund global development.
Your Role as the 'Head'
We are building a marketing department consisting of three people: You (The Strategic Lead), a Content Creator, and a Partnership Outreach Lead. We don’t need you to design daily social media posts; we need you to lead the overarching strategy and ensure both 'arms' of our mission are perfectly aligned.
Brand Guardianship: Overseeing the distinct brand voices of our Empowerment Hub and our Retail Initiatives, ensuring they both communicate our 'Travel for Good' ethos with radical transparency.
Team Leadership: Guiding and mentoring our volunteer content and partnership creators.
Campaign Strategy: Designing high-level marketing campaigns that promote global holidays (from luxury escapes to family packages), which in turn fund our 'Four Pillars of Change.'
The Global Impact of Your Role
Your strategic leadership will be the funding engine for our global social projects. Because of our unique CIC structure, we rely on sustainable revenue from travel to fund our missions. The more journeys we facilitate and the more independent ambassadors we empower, the more surplus we legally safeguard to fund our initiatives.
By leading our marketing team, your impact acts as a massive multiplier. You will directly drive the success required to scale the 'Made From The Mekong' project. This initiative delivers digital literacy and English education to learners across off-grid villages in Laos, while simultaneously funding a circular economy that repurposes river plastic.
The Ideal Candidate
You do not need to be from the travel industry, but you must be a strategic thinker who understands how to build and protect a premium brand architecture.
3+ Years in Marketing Leadership: Proven experience in strategy, brand management, or campaign direction.
