HELP US LAUNCH MINDSET — AND CHANGE MEN & BOYS’ LIVES IN LONDON
We’re ideally seeking volunteers from London, but we welcome passionate volunteers from across England who can join meetings virtually and help us build strong, safe and transparent financial foundations.
We’re MINDSET Charity, a bold new start‑up in London on a mission to equip and empower men and boys with the tools they need for better mental health, stronger resilience and long‑term personal growth.
We’re creating a stigma‑free movement — a space where men and boys can learn real, practical, non‑clinical skills that help them build better habits, better mindsets and better lives. From 1:1 Life Coaching, to 6‑ and 12‑week self‑improvement programmes, to school workshops for teenage boys, we’re building something powerful.
And right now, we’re getting ready to launch — and we need a Volunteer Treasurer to help us build the financial systems, controls and confidence that will underpin everything we do.
YOUR IMPACT WILL BE HUGE
Joining MINDSET as our Treasurer at this early stage means you’re not stepping into a traditional finance role — you’re becoming part of the founding leadership of a charity with ambition, energy and purpose.
Your work will directly influence:
-
how quickly we can register as a charity;
-
how strong, safe and transparent our financial systems become;
-
how confidently we can deliver programmes;
-
how responsibly we grow and scale;
-
how sustainable our long‑term future is.
You’ll be the financial heartbeat of a charity that will change lives across London.
THE ROLE: TREASURER (VOLUNTEER)
- The financial guardian.
- The strategic adviser.
- The calm, confident voice of good judgement.
As our Treasurer, you’ll oversee MINDSET’s financial health and help us build strong, transparent systems from day one. You’ll guide the Board on financial decision‑making, ensure compliance with UK charity regulations, and help us grow responsibly and sustainably.
This role is ideal for someone with UK accounting or finance experience who wants to use their skills to make a meaningful difference.
WHAT YOU’LL HELP US BUILD
1. Financial Oversight
-
Maintaining accurate financial records and accounts.
-
Supporting the development of budgets, forecasts and financial plans.
-
Advising the Board on financial strategy, sustainability and risk.
-
Overseeing banking, payments, donations and financial controls.
2. Compliance & Governance
-
Ensuring compliance with UK charity finance and reporting requirements.
-
Supporting charity registration and financial documentation.
-
Helping build systems that meet best practice standards.
-
Preparing clear, simple financial reports for Trustee meetings.
3. Start‑Up Leadership
-
Helping design financial systems suitable for a new charity.
-
Bringing clarity, confidence and structure to our early operations.
-
Supporting the Leadership Team with financial insight.
-
Helping build the foundations that future teams will rely on.
WE’RE NOT JUST LOOKING FOR ANYONE
We’re especially interested in people who:
-
have UK accounting or finance experience;
-
enjoy building systems, structure and clarity;
-
bring calm, steady judgement to a fast‑moving start‑up;
-
understand financial controls, risk and compliance;
-
want to help build a charity that will make a real difference;
-
care deeply about men’s wellbeing, resilience and personal growth.
If you’re someone who loves building strong financial foundations — this is your moment.

The Pirate Castle is looking for a voluntary Treasurer Trustee to join our friendly and committed Trustee Board. We are an iconic Camden-based community boating charity, established in 1966; we are proud to say that 2026 is our 60th anniversary.
Our well-known castle building sits on the banks of the Regent's Canal in the heart of Camden Town. We rent out our community space and offer a range of watersports for children and adults of all ages and abilities. Kayaking and canal boating are core to our work and we tackle disadvantage and support our community by offering subsidised sport and recreation, including through the school holidays. If you ever walk along the canal tow path in Camden you can't help but notice us on the water!
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial analysis or accounting, ideally with a professional accountancy qualification.The role involves working with our contracted Bookkeeper and Development Manager to monitor and oversee the charity's finances month-to-month and to report to trustees at Board meetings. It also involves overseeing the preparation of the annual accounts, together with our external accounts inspector (our annual income level is below the audit threshold).
The charity is in a sound financial position. As the Treasurer you will also be involved in and have an important voice in the charity's strategic management and governance. We are a friendly Trustee Board and staff team, looking for a Treasurer with solid financial analysis and an ability to communicate with others from all walks of life. You can expect about 4-5 hours' work per month on average. The Board meets 10 times each year, usually on a Monday evening. Most of our meetings are held remotely though two meetings each year are held in person in our Camden Castle building.
Please note this is a voluntary (unpaid) position. As a Trustee you would be a director of our company limited by guarantee. We maintain directors and officers insurance for our Board members.
