Genesis Impact is a UK charity working with young people, families, schools and communities. We deliver programmes designed to support educational development, strengthen families and create positive opportunities for young people.

About the Role

We are looking for an organised, proactive and enthusiastic Programmes Intern to support the coordination and delivery of our programmes.

This is a hands-on opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in programme management, the charity sector, education or community development.

You will work alongside the Genesis Impact team to help ensure our programmes are organised, well communicated and delivered effectively.

What You'll Be Doing

• Supporting the day-to-day coordination of Genesis Impact programmes
• Communicating with volunteers, mentors, schools and programme participants
• Helping organise programme sessions, meetings, events and training
• Maintaining programme records, attendance information and trackers
• Supporting volunteer onboarding, including DBS and safeguarding administration
• Following up with participants and helping keep programme activities on schedule
• Collecting feedback and information to support monitoring and evaluation
• Supporting the preparation of programme reports and updates
• Taking meeting notes and following up agreed actions
• Providing general administrative support across the Genesis Impact team

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is organised, reliable and proactive, with strong communication skills and good attention to detail.

You should be comfortable using Microsoft Office or Google Workspace and confident communicating with different people.

You do not need extensive professional experience. This role would suit a student, recent graduate or someone looking to build practical experience in programme management, charities, education or community work.

Experience working with young people, schools, charities or community organisations would be helpful but is not essential.

What we need from you

This is a really flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

About us:

Business Launchpad (BLP) is an enterprise charity based in Tooting, in the London Borough of Wandsworth. We support young people aged 18 to 30 to start and grow their own businesses, access employment, and build skills for economic independence.

Our core programmes are:

• Pathways, our flagship 12-week enterprise cohort programme, guiding young people from idea to early-stage business.

• Business Lab, a 6-week pipeline programme for young people exploring enterprise as a route forward.

• Career Connect, our annual employability fair connecting young people with employers and opportunities.

About this Volunteer role:

Location: Tooting Works, Tooting, London SW17

Duration: Minimum 4 weeks, up to 12 weeks (flexible by arrangement)

Hours: Part-time or full-time by arrangement

This role sits within our Programmes and Delivery team. You will work alongside our Programme Coordinator on the recruitment, onboarding and administrative tasks that keep our programmes running day to day.

It is a practical role with real responsibility. You will see how a charity programme team works from the inside, including how we bring young people onto our programmes, track their progress and stay in contact with partners and referrers.

What You Will do:

Recruitment and Participant Outreach:

• Support recruitment campaigns for Pathways and Business Lab across digital channels.

• Help manage the enquiries inbox and respond to initial expressions of interest.

Onboarding and Administration:

• Help prepare and send out welcome packs, joining instructions and programme information.

• Assist with collecting participant documents, consent forms and eligibility evidence.

• Help communicate session timetables and any changes to participants.

Programme Administration:

• Help prepare session materials, including printing, digital uploads and room or resource coordination.

• Maintain recruitment progress tracking spreadsheets.

• Assist with gathering participant feedback to support our monitoring and evaluation.

Communications Support:

• Provide day-to-day administrative support to the programme team, including sending emails, texts messages and making phone calls with programme participants.

• Follow up new leads for programme interest and support with discovery chat bookings and follow ups.

What We Are Looking For:

You do not need previous charity experience. We are looking for someone reliable and well organised who genuinely wants to support young people. We will give you the training and supervision you need to do the role well.

Volunteering Arrangements

The placement is based at Tooting Works in South London. Some tasks may be done remotely, depending on the stage of the programme cycle, and this can be agreed with your line manager.

We ask volunteers to commit to their agreed hours and to give notice if they cannot attend. We will agree a schedule at the start that works for both of us.

This is a chance to make a huge difference through volunteering as Trustee for a life-saving charity which has been having a positive impact in North Somerset since 1994.  We provide professional, low cost counselling and mental health support for people who cannot get the help they need through the NHS and cannot afford to pay for private therapy.  You will hear testimonies of adults and teenagers who have had their lives turned around because of Wellspring.  The Finance Trustee plays a vital role in keeping our organisation on track by ensuring accounts are kept up to date and accurately, having oversight of all our financial matters and providing forecasting to help keep the charity viable and sustainable.

The Finance Trustee should be or have been a finance professional preferably with experience in accounting.  You will keep in contact with the Director and Administrator regularly (1-2 times per month), and meet with the other friendly and caring Board of Trustees once every two months to report on our finances.

In detail the role inovles:

• Ensuring that proper accounting records are kept, and that appropriate accounting

procedures and controls are in place.

• Ensuring that robust and comprehensive financial policies are in place and being

implemented, and supporting the development of policies covering financial

reserves, and cost management.

• Monitoring and advising on the financial viability of the charity.

• Overseeing financial controls and adherence to systems, regularly liaising with

Director and Senior Administrator.

• Advising on the financial implications of the charity’s strategic plan, including

overseeing the charity’s financial risk-management process

• Ensuring investments and assets are maximised.

• Lead on the appointment of and liaison with the Independent Examiner.

• Oversee the development and implementation of systems for appraising, mitigating

and reporting corporate risk.

• Acting as Company Secretary for the Charity.

• Ensuring that the accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by

relevant statutory bodies, for example, the Charity Commission and/or the Registrar

of Companies.

• Keeping the board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities and

liaising with the Director to develop the financial understanding of the Board of

Trustees.

Do you want to join an organisation committed to addressing low literacy and numeracy?

Volunteers are essential to Shannon Trust and bring their energy, ideas and skills to train mentors in prisons, support learners in the community and enhance our business support team.

We are looking for volunteers to provide training and support to our mentors in prison in the North East area. This could include visiting any of the following prisons: HMP Frankland, HMP Holme House, HMP Durham, HMP Northumberland, HMP Low Newton, HMP Deerbolt. There may be some additional preparation and/ or administrative tasks in between volunteering days at the prison.

Our prison volunteers nurture the growth of the Shannon Trust in their prison. They help unlock the power of reading by delivering training sessions for prison mentors and offering ongoing advice, guidance and support through mentor meetings.

Volunteer recruitment dates

The closing date for applications to attend our next round of training is 24 January 2027. In some circumstances, volunteer vacancies may close early. Successful applicants will be sent interview questions in advance with notice to prepare. We will respond to all applications. Successful applicants will be invited to an interview between 25 January and 5 February 2027. This is an opportunity for you to meet our regional team, to find out more about you and for us to share more information about the volunteering role.

Training:

You'll be given high quality training to prepare you for volunteering with Shannon Trust. This takes place over 4 training sessions and via our online training portal. We ask that volunteers aim to complete the training in one course as this means that you will be ready to start actively volunteering. The next training sessions for volunteering for people applying to be a prison based volunteer will take place as follows.

Our challenge

Brain tumours do not discriminate, and they do not respect boundaries. They can strike anyone, at any age. And they strike quickly. Taking on a fundraising challenge is about far more than crossing a finish line. It means balancing training with everyday life, committing to an ambitious fundraising target, and pushing yourself physically and mentally – all while supporting a cause that means so much. That's where you come in.

As a volunteer, you'll play a vital role in motivating and inspiring our incredible fundraisers every step of the way. Whether you're sending words of encouragement, creating thoughtful fundraising and cheer packs, preparing event-day kits, or helping our Events Team deliver an unforgettable experience, your support will make a real difference. Together, we'll ensure every participant feels valued, supported and ready to achieve something extraordinary.

How can you help? 

As an Events Team Support Volunteer, you will play an important behind-thescenes role in helping our fundraising events run smoothly. You'll help create a positive experience for our supporters from the moment they sign up through to celebrating their achievements after event day. You may be asked to support with a range of activities, including but not limited to:

• Supporter communications: Making phone calls to wish participants good luck before their event, congratulate them afterwards and thank them for their incredible fundraising efforts, as well as preparing and posting good luck cards and other supporter mailings.
• Participant materials: Preparing fundraising packs, participant welcome materials and certificates, ensuring participants receive everything they need.
• Event preparation: Packing event day materials and organising and assembling cheer packs, including banners, pom-poms, signs and other supporter resources.
• Data and administration: Assisting with data entry, updating supporter records, envelope stuffing, labelling and other general administrative tasks.
• Event and team support: Assisting with event logistics in the lead-up to busy fundraising events and helping to ensure the Events Team workspace is tidy, organised and well-stocked.
• Ad hoc support: Supporting wider Events Team projects and administrative tasks, particularly during busy periods, to help keep things running smoothly.

We’re looking for

• Organised with good attention to detail.
• Comfortable speaking with supporters on the phone.
• Reliable and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Happy to undertake a variety of practical and administrative tasks.
• Passionate about supporting our charity and providing excellent supporter care.
• Someone who is happy to volunteer at our office in Fleet, Hampshire initially, before continuing at our new office location in Woking from early 2027 onwards.

Location and time commitment

This is an office-based volunteering role. We’re therefore looking for someone who is happy to volunteer at our Fleet, Hampshire office initially, before continuing at our new Woking office from early 2027 onwards.

During our busier spring and autumn seasons, we’re looking for a commitment of approximately two hours per week, ideally on a Wednesday. During the quieter summer and winter seasons, this would reduce to approximately two hours every two weeks. We understand that volunteers have other commitments, so we can offer some flexibility and can tailor your experience around your availability. 

Practical considerations You will receive a full induction to The Brain Tumour Charity and any specific training for the role, as well as ongoing direction from one of the Events team, who will be your key contact. We carry out reference checks for all individuals who will be volunteering with us on a regular basis. Volunteers may be required to complete some internal data protection and disclosure documentation before commencing the role. Volunteers must be over 18.
