Why we want you
As a community engagement volunteer you and your fellow branch members will create a range of activities to help spread the word about SSAFA within your community to ensure that that our Armed Forces community know that SSAFA are here to help and that we need the public’s support to continue offering our services.
This role is diverse and allows for you to focus on the areas that you have skills or interests in. The role has flexibility and can work around your other commitments.

- Administrators - Are you detail-oriented and love keeping things organised? Assist with branch and event administration, manage schedules and branch calendars, and ensure everything runs smoothly currently being undertaken.

About The Role
At WWT we shape unforgettable experiences. We are a warm, welcoming and genuine charity that protects and restores Wetlands. WWT Martin Mere has 600 acres of amazing wetland scenery which is home to such an assortment of wildlife.
We are looking for volunteers who can support our team in our Café and shop to ensure we offer excellent customer service to our visitors.
By providing excellent customer care in our shop, you will be encouraging our visitors to support the wider conservation work of WWT. The money that is taken in retail is instrumental to the conservation work that WWT can afford to carry out.
Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You'll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need.

We offer a lifelong befriending service for adults with learning disabilities. Matching the skills and interests of passionate visitors with the specific hobbies and interests of the people we visit. Visitors visit six times a year to create a 1-2-1 connection, offer companionship, encourage people to do the things they enjoy and check-in on their wellbeing. In many cases, the visitor is the only person in someone’s life who isn’t paid to be there for them.
We are looking for a patient and caring volunteer to visit a man in his 50s who lives in a supported living home in central Leicester. He enjoys browsing holiday brochures, watching sports and films, and singing along to karaoke. A big fan of planes and football, he also likes cooking simple meals, gardening, and listening to music. He’s independent with many things like making drinks and snacks, and has a great sense of routine, plus, an impressive mug collection! If you enjoy good company and light-hearted activities, this could be a lovely match.
This is a Stop and stay, let’s get busy visitor role which means the person you will be visiting can communicate actively with you and take part in choosing or planning activities. As you get to know each our you may choose to ‘go out’ either with or without support from the staff that supports the person you visit. Your volunteer manager will be happy to help you with ideas and suggestions for things you can do. Visits will vary in length but tends to be around an hour or longer, depending on what you do.
In this role you will spend quality time with the person you visit and could do a range of different activities like: • Sitting and having a chat • Checking in on their well- being • Going out to a local café/pub for a meal/drink • Enjoying a walk • A craft activity at home • Reading a book/magazine together

We are looking for a friendly, patient, female volunteer to befriend a lovely lady in Maidenhead. On cosy days in, she loves to have a chat, listen to music, paint her nails or a do a jigsaw puzzle. When feeling up to it, she would love to be taken in her wheelchair to her favourite treat, McDonalds.
She takes a little while to warm up to new people, so can sometimes display behaviours which may come across as challenging, such as making short, sharp noises. It would be great if her new volunteer has some experience with this or is someone who isn’t fazed easily. It’s important to know that her care team would always be a helping hand away, and that her not-so-secret kryptonite is chocolate!
Please note this person’s residence have a pet cat.

Role – Community Engagement Volunteer
Are you passionate about supporting the Armed Forces Community? Could you help to raise awareness for SSAFA in your local area? You don’t need a military background, just the ability to get on with all kinds of people and some occasional free time.
What is a Community Engagement Volunteer?
As a community engagement volunteer, you and your fellow branch members will create a range of activities to help spread the word about SSAFA within your community. We want to ensure that our Armed Forces community knows that SSAFA is here to help and that we need the public’s support to continue offering our services.
Why do we need you?
We’ve been supporting the Armed Forces community since 1885. Our clients come from all backgrounds and age groups and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like the Falklands or Afghanistan.
There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas who support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families.
A varied programme of awareness raising also keeps the SSAFA profile high in the local community, so everyone knows who we are and how we can help.
When would you be needed and where would you be based?
This role is diverse and allows for you to focus on the areas that you have skills or interests in. The role has flexibility and can work around your other commitments.

We’re looking for a Volunteer Office & Compliance Manager and Executive Assistant to the CEO — a highly organised, warm, and reliable person who can help build the operational backbone of SUNSHINE.
This is a hands‑on, people‑centred role for someone who loves structure, clarity, and supporting others to do their best work. You’ll help keep our young charity running smoothly, safely, and in line with good governance — while also providing direct support to the Founder/CEO.
Your work will help create a calm, organised, and joyful environment where volunteers can thrive and SUNSHINE can grow with confidence.
As our Volunteer Office & Compliance Manager and Executive Assistant, you will:
1. Support the CEO

The Stuart Low Trust are thrilled to invite you to volunteer to support our Spring Term (April-June 2026) programme of Arts, Nature and Wellbeing activities, which operate across Islington and London!
Rooted in the Islington community and founded in memory of Stuart Low, who sadly took his own life in 1997, we work to ensure no one faces mental health challenges alone or without support.
We collaborate with facilitators, with assistance from volunteers, to provide our Arts, Nature, and Wellbeing programmes for people living with, or recovering from, mental health issues. Running during working hours as well as evenings and weekends, our group activities are inclusive, social, and creative – grounded in the belief that offering shared experiences can be transformative in helping to build connection, challenge stigma, and improve wellbeing.
Who Can Volunteer?
We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds, lived experiences, and abilities, aged 18 and over, who are passionate about supporting people experiencing social isolation and/or mental health issues. No prior qualifications or experience is needed. Ideal volunteers are empathetic, sensitive to diverse needs, confident in group settings, and able to remain calm, adaptable, and professional. Whatever your interests or experience, there’s a place for you on our team.
Applicants should use the application form to select volunteer roles that best match their interests, skills, and availability (e.g. Nature Visit Volunteer, Wellbeing Workshop Volunteer, etc.).
Why Volunteer?
Volunteering with us is fun, rewarding, and a chance to make a real difference in your community. You’ll gain valuable skills, receive safeguarding and mental health training, have travel expenses reimbursed, and be supported onsite and throughout your volunteering journey by SLT staff. Activities are varied and dynamic, and you’ll meet people with diverse lived experiences, alleviate loneliness and the impacts of mental health challenges, while also becoming part of our friendly volunteer community and eligible for a reference.
How Does it Work?
We run our activities year-round across four terms: Winter Term: Jan-March, Spring Term: April-June, Summer Term: July-Sept, Autumn Term: Oct-Dec.
We’re currently recruiting volunteers for our Spring Term (April–June 2026).
If you join us this Spring and would like to continue volunteering in the Summer, Autumn, or beyond, we’d be delighted to have you. We support long-term volunteering and will regularly check in so you can let us know if you’d like to stay involved.
Person Specification
Requirements:
- A minimum of 18-years-old.
- Willing to complete a DBS check (paid for by SLT).
- Willing to provide contact details for two referees.
- Able to commit to in-person workshops (regularly or flexibly, dependant on role)
- Able to attend a three-hour in-person volunteer training session.
- Based in or near to London.
Skills:
- Passion for working with participants experiencing social isolation and/or mental health issues.
- Awareness of mental health issues.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Helpful assisting in a group setting.
- Ability to remain calm, centred and professional, while keeping a sense of humour.

THE ROLE — VOLUNTEER HEAD OF SUNSHINE LONELINESS AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS
We’re looking for a Volunteer Head of SUNSHINE Loneliness Awareness Campaigns to lead bold, creative, human‑centred campaigns that raise awareness of loneliness, challenge stigma, and inspire people to connect with their neighbours and communities, as well as promoting the SUNSHINE Charity as a leading light in the community.
This is a strategic and creative leadership role for someone who loves storytelling, social change, and building campaigns that feel hopeful, inclusive, and impossible to ignore.
You’ll help shape SUNSHINE’s public voice on loneliness — turning a silent struggle into a shared movement for connection.
As our Volunteer Head of SUNSHINE Loneliness Campaigns, you will:
1. Lead Campaign Strategy

THE ROLE — VOLUNTEER IT & DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGER
We’re looking for a Volunteer IT & Digital Infrastructure Manager to help build the simple, safe, reliable digital systems that will support SUNSHINE as we grow.
This is a hands‑on, practical role for someone who loves making technology work smoothly for people — especially in a start‑up environment where everything is being built from scratch.
You’ll help create the digital foundations that keep our volunteers connected, our information secure, and our operations running with confidence.
As our Volunteer IT & Digital Infrastructure Manager, you will:
1. Build and Maintain Core Digital Systems

Help set up and manage our digital tools (email, file storage, collaboration platforms, volunteer systems).

Keep everything organised, accessible, and easy for volunteers to use.

Support the creation of simple digital processes that make day‑to‑day work smoother.
2. Champion Digital Safety & Compliance

Ensure our systems follow good practice in data protection, privacy, and security.

Support the development of clear, accessible guidance for volunteers.

Help embed safe digital habits across the charity.
3. Support Volunteers & Teams

Provide friendly, patient support to volunteers using digital tools.

Help troubleshoot issues and build volunteers’ confidence with technology.

Work closely with the Office & Compliance Manager, COO, and other leads to keep everything aligned.
4. Enable Growth & Scalability

Recommend simple, cost‑effective tools that fit a small, volunteer‑powered charity.

Help ensure our digital infrastructure can grow as SUNSHINE expands into new neighbourhoods.

Keep systems tidy, organised, and future‑proof.
5. Bring Calm, Clarity & Structure
