AFRIL’s Allotment of Refuge is an integrated group of growers and gardeners both with and without lived experience of migration. The Allotment provides a weekly wellbeing space for AFRIL members to come together with members of the broader community and learn about food growing, learn new skills and enjoy a shared lunch. The Allotment also grows crops which are distributed at AFRIL’s Foodbank.

Our volunteers are crucial in supporting AFRIL staff to obtain the best outcomes for our clients, and this role will provide you with an opportunity to see a hands-on outdoor project, learn about growing and gain valuable insight into the immigration system and its many challenges.

The Fixing Factory is a community repair hub where we teach repair skills, repair and refurbish electrical waste, and help people keep their electrical items in use for longer.

Our work is made possible with the support of a team of volunteers who help people to get their electronic items fixed, learn repair skills and provide valuable support to environmental charities Possible (The 10:10 Foundation) and The Restart Project.

We’re looking for Experienced Fixers to join our volunteer team and help diagnose and repair electrical items at the Haringey Fixing Factory. Your skills will help keep valuable items in use for longer — supporting our mission to reduce waste and support our community.

What you’ll be doing:

• Diagnosing and repairing electrical items such as lamps, kettles, toasters and laptops
• Testing and signing off items ready for sale or donation
• Supporting less experienced fixers with more complex repairs
• Talking one-on-one with members of the public about how items can be repaired
• Helping keep the workshop safe, tidy and welcoming

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has strong electrical repair skills and experience fixing a range of items
• Can work independently and confidently troubleshoot faults
• Is organised, reliable and safety-conscious
• Enjoys sharing knowledge and supporting others
• Cares about sustainability, reducing waste and community impact

We need help in our warehouse to receive and record supplies, load and unload vans, and prepare orders for delivery.

This role is vital to FareShare's work, ensuring that the food in our warehouse is sorted, labelled and organised into orders.

Our volunteer roles are available Monday to Friday, for a whole or half day, with shifts between 8:30-am-12:30pm and 12:30-4:30pm. 

Volunteers are typically involved on one day a week.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
Receiving, sorting, cataloguing and storing chilled and ambient food and preparing orders for delivery. 
Ensuring food quality and safety by checking ‘use by’ and ‘best before’ dates.
Unpacking deliveries, recording and categorising food.
Assembling food orders.
Maintaining health and safety and hygiene standards. 
Helping with cleaning and other routine tasks.

PERSON SPECIFICATION: You must...
Be reasonably physically fit to carry out tasks, including lifting and loading.
Be reliable and able to commit to an agreed session/day.
Speak English well in order to understand and follow instructions and health and safety rules. 
Have basic literacy and numeracy skills to record details of donated food.
Be able to work to Health and Safety standards.
Be happy to complete tasks independently according to instruction.
Be positive, friendly and enthusiastic about tackling food waste and food insecurity.

LOCATION
We are located in Maynard House, New Smithfield Market, Openshaw, M11 2WJ, which is easily reachable on public transport. We have free-onsite parking and secure storage for bicycles.

You must be a UK resident and living within easy commuting distance of our base in order to volunteer with us. This is because our volunteers must be able to reliably commit to regular shifts for our roles.

About The Role

At the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust we believe that the best way for people to understand and connect to wetlands is to experience them so we bring awe-inspiring nature up close.  You will be directly involved in shaping our visitors’ unforgettable experiences through your warm welcome, your interaction with them and the information that you provide on the canoe safari and guided boat tours. 

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You’ll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need.

• Experience in canoeing is an advantage.

Being a Trustee requires a commitment of time for both formal and informal engagements. You will be required to attend 4 quarterly board meetings at Hawkwood each year. Programs create safe spaces for mental health awareness, improve clean water access and hygiene, and provide educational resources and mentorship to promote inclusive learning. Climate action efforts involve tree planting, conservation, and sustainable practices. By fostering community ownership and engaging volunteers, Obuyisi bw’Omu drives practical, sustainable solutions that enhance well-being and resilience for lasting positive change.

As a Fundraising Specialist you will be in charge of the following tasks :

Fundraising Strategy Development:
· Collaborate with the team to understand our core programs, budget needs, and funding gaps.
· Research and help develop a comprehensive fundraising plan that identifies the most promising income streams (grants, corporate sponsorships, individual donations, online campaigns).

Grant Research & Writing:
· Proactively research and identify grant opportunities from foundations, trusts, and bilateral/multilateral agencies whose priorities align with our mission in mental health, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), climate action, and girls' education in Uganda.
· Draft compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and concept notes, working with the team to gather necessary data and impact stories.
· Help manage a grants calendar to track deadlines and reporting requirements.

Individual Giving & Crowdfunding:
· Support the development and launch of online crowdfunding campaigns.
· Help brainstorm and implement creative ways to engage and grow a base of individual monthly donors.
· Assist in drafting compelling fundraising appeals (e.g., for email newsletters, social media) in collaboration with the Communications and Digital Marketing volunteers.

Partnership Development:
· Research and help build a pipeline of potential corporate partners, foundations, and philanthropic networks.

Donor Communication & Stewardship:
· Help create materials to thank and update donors on the impact of their contributions (e.g., impact reports, thank-you emails).

Pró-Onça Institute empowers Cerrado communities to restore critical habitats, monitor biodiversity, and promote sustainable human-wildlife coexistence.

The Brazilian Cerrado, one of the world's most biodiverse savannas, is vanishing at an alarming rate due to large-scale agriculture. This habitat loss fragments the landscape, isolating large carnivores like jaguars and driving them into dangerous conflicts with local farmers. Furthermore, the rural communities living closest to these ecosystems—particularly women and youth—are often excluded from conservation leadership and lack the resources to protect their land against the intensifying threats of drought and wildfires.

Pró-Onça Institute addresses these crises through a locally driven model that transforms communities into active conservation partners across four integrated pillars. We train rural women and youth in high-tech biodiversity monitoring—using camera traps and GPS to track wildlife and reduce predator conflicts—while establishing community nurseries to restore native vegetation corridors that reconnect fragmented habitats. Through flagship initiatives like "Jaguar Women for Climate & Conservation," we provide the leadership training and employment needed for local women to head restoration efforts, all while using professional storytelling and art to amplify community voices and foster global engagement. By blending ecological science with social empowerment, we create resilient landscapes where both jaguars and people can thrive together.

​The role: Impact Finance & Fundraising Strategist

This role is ideal for someone interested in impact investment, climate and biodiversity finance, or strategic partnerships for mission-driven organizations. You will work directly with the founder of Pró-Onça Institute to help design and implement a funding and partnership strategy that allows our conservation initiatives to scale.

This goes beyond advisory support. We are looking for someone who is willing to actively collaborate with us in building relationships with potential supporters and partners.

Responsibilities include:

• helping design a clear funding and partnership strategy for the organisation
• identifying potential donors, foundations, corporate partners, and impact investors aligned with biodiversity and climate initiatives
• advising on how to approach and communicate with potential funders
• supporting outreach and introductions to relevant partners when possible
• helping refine our pitch and value proposition for potential supporters
• advising on negotiation and partnership conversations

Our goal is to build long-term partnerships that allow community-led conservation initiatives to grow and reach more landscapes and communities.

AI Technologies for Africa has developed Peniang, a comprehensive waste management ecosystem that connects citizens, collectors, and recyclers to foster a profitable circular economy.

About the Role

We are seeking a Fundraising & Grants Specialist to help secure funding for the launch of our pilot program. This role will support identifying grants, climate funds, and accelerator opportunities aligned with circular economy and environmental innovation.

Responsibilities

WHO WE ARE

Westmill Sustainable Energy Trust (WeSET) is a registered charity established by members of the Westmill Wind Farm and Solar Co-operatives. WeSET promotes sustainable energy deployment and education, primarily within a 25-mile radius of the Westmill Wind Farm and Solar Park, near the village of Watchfield, between Swindon and Oxford.

The Wind Farm at Westmill has been operating for nearly twenty years now, with five turbines that produce enough electricity to power about 2,800 homes. The Solar Park sits beside the turbines and produces electricity for about 1,600 homes.

Both projects are community-owned. In fact, the solar park was the first community-owned of its kind in the UK, and at its inception it was thought to be the UK’s first and the world’s largest co-operatively run, community-owned solar installation. Country Living has called Westmill one of the "6 most impressive solar farms around the world" to visit. 

Westmill is the only place in southern England where people can see wind and solar power in action on the same site. 

WHAT WE DO

One of the main ways in which WeSET connects with others is by giving tours of Westmill, where we welcome groups -  large and small - consisting of members of the public, plus community groups, primary school classes and university students. Additionally, on occasion, we also welcome planners, civil servants, councillors and others involved in making decisions about renewable energy.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our team of volunteers at WeSET to help guide people around the Westmill site. If you are passionate about sustainable energy and a low-carbon future, and are eager to share your interest with others, then we'd love to hear from you.

As a WeSET volunteer tour guide you will interact with our visitors, telling the story of how the Westmill Wind Farm & Solar Park was created, describing how our turbines were installed and how they operate, and detailing the installation and energy generation of over twenty-thousand solar panels. You would be trained and guided on the tour content and its delivery.

On some occasions, you will be working alone in welcoming and leading groups at Westmill, and on other occasions you may be working alongside other guides.

You may also prefer to work as 'guide support' which is another volunteering role available that provides practical help to our guides during the tours.

Our team of volunteers is a small but friendly group of individuals who enjoy an engaging experience, not only through tours, but also through some internal social events that WeSET arranges.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

If you already have knowledge of renewables then this would be useful. But it is by no means essential as we can introduce you! Either way, we would run you through some training and shadowing sessions to bring you up to speed.

Experience of work in a public-facing role would also be useful, but is not crucial as you will be guided on the rudiments by our existing guides, with continuing, ongoing support from WeSET's Visits Coordinator.

It's important to say that this opportunity may only suitable for people who live in north-east Wiltshire, south-east Gloucestershire, north-east Wiltshire and north-west Berkshire, as we are looking for people who can easily and quickly travel to the Westmill site. We can offer reimbursement for any travel expenses, usually within a 15-mile radius of Westmill, and this can be discussed in advance of any volunteering.

If you have a happy, friendly demeanour, with a genuine passion for sustainability, then this could be a great opportunity to share that passion and meet other like-minded people at the same time!

About The Role

At WWT we shape unforgettable experiences; we want people to feel part of something amazing and this includes our youngest of visitors and the people they visit with.  We are therefore looking for keen and enthusiastic people to help run our weekly Wednesday term time toddler group: The Gosling Gang. You will enjoy working with other volunteers, families and young children; have good communication skills, an outgoing personality and an ability to think on your feet.

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You’ll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need.

HERVEG.05 helps women and youth farmers grow nutritious food, raise poultry, and increase income sustainably.

HERVEG.05 addresses the critical issues of malnutrition, food insecurity, and poverty in Tanzania, which ranks among the top 15 countries globally for child stunting. Smallholder farmers, who produce the majority of the country's food, frequently lack the training and tools necessary to overcome poor soil fertility and climate-driven challenges. The solution is a practical, climate-smart pathway designed for rural realities. HERVEG.05 utilizes a "Mobile layaway" system allowing farmers to purchase seeds and poultry inputs incrementally via phone. Their model includes hands-on training and last-mile delivery of inputs directly to remote village groups. By providing "Nutri-Reach Bundles"—which combine poultry, biofortified maize, and vegetables—the startup creates a circular economy. Poultry manure improves soil, biofortified crops fight malnutrition, and improved storage reduces waste. This integrated system builds resilience against climate change while simultaneously boosting family income and health.

We’re looking for a Food Security & Impact Data Analyst to help us analyse already collected field data from our poultry and food security programme and transform it into clear, internationally credible results.

This role is for someone who can take data from raw datasets to final impact evidence, analysis, interpretation, and storytelling.

You will work on analysing Household Hunger Scale (HHS) and Coping Strategies Index (Last 7 Days) data, assess programme impact, and develop a strong proof of concept showing how our work improves food security and livelihoods.

This role is for someone who:

1. Understands how to analyse Household Hunger Scale (HHS) using FANTA / FAO / WFP methodology and can correctly score and classify hunger levels.
2. Can calculate the Reduced Coping Strategy Index (rCSI) confidently.
3. Knows how to apply severity weighting and analyse frequency × severity relationships.
4. Can interpret household food stress levels beyond simple numbers.
5. Understands emergency coping vs stress coping behaviours.
6. Clearly understands food access vs food availability dynamics.
7. Recognizes seasonal food insecurity patterns in rural communities.

Has strong experience using data analysis tools such as:

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (data cleaning, pivot tables, indicator calculations)
• SPSS, Stata, or R for statistical analysis
• Data visualization tools such as PowerPoint, Power BI, or Tableau to present findings clearly

Can clean datasets, interpret findings, and translate technical analysis into clear narratives and visuals. Has experience analysing agriculture, livelihood, or food security programmes.

Enjoys turning data into stories that donors, partners, and communities can understand. We have already completed data collection. What we need now is someone who can take the process to completion by delivering:

• A clear Narrative Impact Report.
• A simple slide-based Impact Presentation.
• A strong Proof of Concept report demonstrating programme outcomes.

An established and respected network within the environmental funding community is seeking a new Chair of Trustees and two additional Trustees to join its board.

This organisation works to create an effective, flourishing ecosystem of environmental philanthropy that is supporting people and the planet to thrive together. With a growing membership of funders, advisors and fundraisers, it plays a vital role in convening, connecting and strengthening the sector.

As a Trustee, you will provide strategic oversight and guidance across finance, programmes, communications and relationships. As Chair, you will lead the board, act as a line manager to the Executive Director and ensure strong governance and effective decision making.

You will bring sound judgement, a willingness to offer constructive challenge and a commitment to high standards of governance. Above all, you will share a belief in the importance of environmental action and effective philanthropy.

About the Trustee role

Trustees are responsible for ensuring:

· Clear strategic direction and delivery of charitable objectives

· Effective stewardship of resources

· Robust governance and regulatory compliance

· Thoughtful risk management

· Insight into the wider global context affecting environmental funding

We are particularly interested in individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas:

· Environmental funding, including international funding

· Financial and operational management

· Strategic communications and influencing

· Network coordination and development

· Philanthropy advisory or working with family offices

· Fundraising and membership models

About the Chair role

In addition to the above, the Chair will:

· Lead quarterly board meetings

· Support and line manage the Executive Director

· Ensure the board has the right balance of skills and perspectives

· Act as an ambassador and external figurehead

We are looking for prior leadership or chairing experience, strong strategic capability, an understanding of charity governance and experience engaging with funders.

Commitment

Board meetings are held online quarterly, with additional sub-committee meetings and preparation time. There is one in person team and trustee away day each year. The Chair role includes monthly meetings with the Executive Director and additional preparation responsibilities.

These are voluntary roles. Expenses are provided.
