Sooty, the nation’s much-loved bear and a true national treasure, has featured on RNIB’s collection boxes for over 50 years. Thanks to generous public support, these iconic boxes have raised more than £13 million in donations.

We’re looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to join our network of Sooty Box collectors. In this flexible role, you’ll help place new boxes and collect and bank donations from Sooty Boxes in local shops, cafés and other businesses in your area. Whether you volunteer on your own, with a friend or as part of a group, you’ll be making a real difference in your community.

You can give as much or as little time as you like and fit the role around your other commitments.

Please note: Volunteers are expected to use their own transport and ideally should have access to a car. Mileage or public transport costs will be reimbursed.

You’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering an essential service. It’s great for you, great for your community and great for our nation, and it requires only a small commitment of your time.

Location postcode is set to the Docks, as no venue is currently secured as we need a team in place to allow us to open and find a venue suitable

We need more fosterers like you to provide a safe, temporary haven for cats and kittens and provide them with everything they need before they get their chance to land on their four paws and make a house a home.

What we need from you

You’ll be:

•  Preparing budgets
• Keeping accurate financial records
• Reporting financial records via ‘Cashlog’ (Cats Protection supplied software)
• Paying invoices and volunteer expenses
• Being part of a team which ensures there are sufficient funds to meet expenditure
• Updating and advising others on income received, expenditure and available funds
• Managing and monitoring donations made to the group
• Following financial procedures e.g. Gift Aid returns and VAT claims

Trustees play a vital role in ensuring Glasgow South West Foodbank meets its core purpose by overseeing the management and administration of the charity and ensuring that the foodbank has a clear strategy in line with our vision and goals.

What will you be doing?

We are seeking new trustees to become members of our board. Trustees ensure that the food bank acts in conformity with its purpose and with charity legislation, and that good governance, best practice policies and rigorous financial supervision are in place. They will be required to work collaboratively, with other trustees and with the staff and volunteers of the foodbank, and other external agencies.

What are we looking for?

Our ideal candidates would demonstrate:

• Clear commitment to supporting the delivery of the best possible compassionate and non-judgmental service to some of the most disadvantaged people in Glasgow.
• Some understanding of issues around poverty, even if not in depth, and willingness to extend that.

Volunteership Summary

As a Social Media Manager, you will support the planning, creation, and management of Revive Battery’s social media presence. Working closely with the marketing, business development, and leadership teams, you will help develop and implement social media strategies that increase awareness, engagement, and visibility around battery regeneration, sustainability, and circular energy systems.

This volunteership offers hands-on experience in social media strategy, content planning, digital storytelling, and online community engagement within a fast-paced sustainability startup environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule social media content across platforms such as LinkedIn and other relevant channels
• Create engaging posts, captions, and content formats that communicate Revive Battery’s mission, technology, and impact
• Support the development and management of a structured social media content calendar
• Monitor social media engagement and basic performance metrics to track audience growth and interaction
• Research trends, industry developments, and sustainability topics to support social media content creation
• Repurpose long-form content (articles, reports, newsletters) into concise and engaging social media posts
• Engage with comments, messages, and relevant discussions to strengthen community interaction and brand presence
• Collaborate with designers and team members to ensure visual content aligns with messaging and branding
• Contribute ideas during marketing brainstorm sessions and weekly virtual meetings

Requirements

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Business, Environmental Studies, or a related field
• Strong interest in social media, digital communication, and online audience engagement
• Good writing and communication skills in English
• Ability to translate complex sustainability or technical topics into clear and engaging social media content
• Interest in sustainability, renewable energy, or the circular economy
• Comfortable using digital and AI-supported tools (e.g. ChatGPT) for ideation while maintaining originality and brand voice
• Organized, proactive, and reliable in a remote working environment
• Familiarity with Google Workspace; experience with Canva or social media scheduling tools is an advantage

We are looking for volunteers to assist our Shop Managers in our brand new shop in Hemel Hempstead

Key Volunteer Activities:

• Assisting with the donations of stock, by sorting and steaming and preparing for shop floor
• Maintaining good stock rotation and levels at all times
• Helping with visual merchandising when needed
• Greeting customers in a friendly and approachable manner
• Understanding the Charities key standards and Values
• Becoming familiar with our Health and Safety Policies and being able to convey these to other volunteers
• Assisting the Shop Manager on daily tasks such as banking and stock takes, recycling and shop rotas
• Maintaining a clean and tidy work place which encourages a happy environment to work in
• Commitment to being part of a regular rota
• Giving any other assistance in relation to the smooth running of the shop as may requested by the Shop Manager
• We also have some specialist retail volunteering roles in our shops and warehouse e.g. helping with e-commerce
• Our shifts are 4 hours but we have a flexible approach so can work around the hours available to you. Regular sign-up to the rota is appreciated. However, ideally we would like you be able to cover 2 or 3 shifts a week

Young people play a crucial role in helping us realise this mission. As a volunteer with our youth teams, you’ll be trained to provide our young people with both life skills and lifesaving skills – all while having great fun!

You’ll be working with our brilliant Badgers (aged 7-10) or creative Cadets (aged 11-18). You’ll also have the opportunity to design your own role, whether that involves running fun activities – such as outdoor events, summer camps and mountain adventures – or providing ‘behind-the-scenes’ support.

We’ll offer you the chance to become a fully-fledged Youth Leader, which will mean completing extra courses in First Aid or Adventure to broaden your capacity and experience.

Background

Suzy Lamplugh Trust was founded by Diana and Paul Lamplugh following the disappearance of their daughter Suzy, a young estate agent, in 1986. Since then, the Trust has pioneered personal safety as a life skill and a public policy priority.

Our vision is to eliminate abuse, aggression and violence, creating a society where people are safer and feel safer.

Our mission is to reduce the risk and prevalence of abuse, aggression and violence with a specific focus on stalking and harassment through education, campaigning, and support.
