You’ll be the first point of contact for people coming to Shelter for housing, benefit or debt. This role supports the front-line service in the day-to-day operations of our housing, benefit and debt service in the hub and in our community settings.

Location: Shelter Lancashire Hub, Blackburn Central Library, Town Hall Street, Blackburn. Volunteering activity could be in the Hub or in our community settings.

Availability: Volunteering will take place within our Hub service hours of Monday-Friday, 9am – 5pm

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

You’ll be completing a range of administrative tasks to help the local team assist people who are experiencing the housing emergency or need support with benefits and debt issues.

You’ll be an essential part of the team, welcoming clients and visitors to the hub. You’ll be providing information and key admin support that enables people to get the help they need with their housing.

Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

Join our amazing volunteer team to make a real difference to people living with sight loss. You’ll be supporting people to come together in a group setting, to benefit from each other’s company, knowledge and encouragement, leading to reduced isolation, stronger networks of support, and new friendships. The monthly, evening autism support group is open to parents, carers and family members of autistic children and adults, autistic adults and professionals who work with autistic people, to meet to exchange experiences, skills and understanding. Guest speakers are occasionally invited.

It meets from 7.30pm with an opportunity to chat to other members, take refreshments and browse the branch information stand and library. The meeting itself, whether a discussion evening or a speaker presentation, will start by 8.00pm. The evening closes at 9.30pm.

The volunteer Autism Support Group Leader will be responsible for the co-ordination and running of the NAS South Hampshire Branch’s autism support group which takes place monthly on a Monday evening.

What you will be doing

• Planning sessions, booking guest speakers and co-ordinating the other volunteers
• Interacting with those attending, making sure that everyone can engage in the activities in a safe manner.
• Facilitating discussions ensuring all those who wish to speak have the opportunity and that discussions stay on track
• Organising the setting up and clearing away before and after each meeting.
• Keeping the Branch Chair informed of the group’s activities and attending branch committee meetings
• Ensuring your branch complies with NAS policies including risk assessment, data protection and safeguarding.

Bright Futures UK is looking for passionate and knowledgeable Key Stage 3 English tutors to provide educational support and a fun, safe learning environment for young people living with serious illnesses.

Run tutoring sessions online to support a young person for one hour per week

Offer subject area knowledge and expertise related to KS3 English

As the Charity continues to grow and develop its services, we are seeking to strengthen our Board by recruiting a Trustee with experience in property, estates, or facilities management.

Our future plans include the acquisition, adaptation and ongoing maintenance of additional properties, as well as renovation and improvement of existing premises. We are therefore particularly interested in individuals who can bring:

• Experience in property acquisition, development, or refurbishment
• Knowledge of building maintenance and compliance requirements
• Expertise in estates or facilities management
• Strategic insight into managing property assets within a charitable or regulated environment

Additionally, Trustees conduct scheduled visits to the Approved Premises throughout the year.

Within CPSL Mind's serives, our trainined Peer Mentor "walk alongside" individuals on thier recovery journey as they work towards specific personal goals through 1:1 work or group support. This service is offered Monday to Friday between office hours. 

Aims of the service is to:

• Reduce loneliness and social isolation among adults
• Improve mental wellbeing and confidence through regualar social contact
• Encourage informal physical activity, including walking, gentle exercise and community particiaption 
• Strengthen resilience by supporting individuals to access public services, groups and wider community provision
• Reduce reliance on statutory support
