About the Programme
The Mentorship Programme currently supports:
- 117 students
- 30 active mentors
This is a structured, outcome-driven pathway designed to secure higher education placements, professional certifications, and measurable career progression. It is not a casual networking initiative, it is a coordinated system with defined objectives and active deliverables.
The Role
You will provide operational coordination during a pivotal period in which we are actively:
- Placing students into accredited online degree programmes
- Delivering structured workshops
- Coordinating high-level guest speakers
- Supporting mentors and mentees across multiple academic and professional tracks
- Tracking progress and maintaining programme integrity
There are no fixed weekly meetings. The role is fully remote and flexible. You will report directly to Maria (based in Colombia), requiring comfort with cross–time zone coordination.
What We Are Looking For

The role of the Governing Body includes collective oversight of the College’s activities and setting and reviewing
our strategy and mission. The governor role is comparable with the non-executive directors of a public company
but instead of being accountable to shareholders, governors are accountable for public funds. As the College is an exempt charity, all governors are charity trustees.
Being a governor is a hugely rewarding leadership role. Governors can make a real difference and give something
back to the local community.

Each group includes representatives from established organisations and experts linked to curriculum development and impact. Through our open, national application process, we are seeking a diverse range of classroom teachers, curriculum specialists and subject experts to ensure a broad range of voices are represented.

The Politics Project is looking to expand its board and bring in new perspectives, skills and experience to support the next phase of our work.
We are at an exciting point in our development. We have funding secured for the next 2–3 years, a growing staff team, and a strong national profile. This period of growth coincides with a pivotal moment for democratic education in the UK. As Votes at 16 is introduced, The Politics Project is playing a leading role in supporting schools, youth organisations, civil society and policymakers to ensure young people are equipped to participate meaningfully in democracy. We are seeking new Non-Executive Directors to help guide our strategic direction, strengthen our governance, and support our long-term impact.
About The Politics Project
Established in 2015, The Politics Project is a Community Interest Company (CN: 09413132) that supports young people across the UK to use their voice by providing them with outstanding democratic education.
We are a non-partisan organisation working with young people, teachers, youth practitioners and elected representatives to help young people learn about, experience and engage in democracy and politics in meaningful ways.
We currently employ 11 full-time members of staff and work in partnership with schools, youth organisations, civil society organisations, and democratic institutions across the UK.
Our work aims to:
- Support young people to meaningfully engage in politics by building their confidence, knowledge and skills.
- Train and support teachers, youth practitioners and professionals working with young people to deliver high-quality democratic education.
- Support politicians and decision makers to engage constructively with young people to co-create policy.
Youth voice is embedded in this work through our Youth Steering Group, which brings together young people from across the UK to shape and inform The Politics Project’s programmes and priorities.
Non-Executive Directors sit on The Politics Project Board and share collective responsibility for the governance, strategy and long-term sustainability of the organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring The Politics Project meets its legal and regulatory responsibilities and delivers its aims.
- Working with the Director to develop and realise the organisation’s vision, values and strategic direction.
- Supporting financial planning and oversight.
- Contributing to organisational policies and good governance.
- Providing strategic challenge, insight and support to the senior leadership team.
- Attending 3–4 Board meetings per year (with additional meetings if required). Meetings are primarily remote, with occasional in-person meetings.
- Acting as an ambassador for The Politics Project and advocating for its work.
Non-Executive Directors are registered as directors with Companies House and are appointed for a three-year term, renewable up to two times.
The role is unpaid, but reasonable expenses agreed in advance will be reimbursed. Time commitment is approximately one day per month.
In line with our safeguarding responsibilities, all Non-Executive Directors are required to undertake an enhanced DBS check.

Voyage has recently come through a very challenging two year period that has significantly impacted our ability to attract investment and grow and rebuild staff capacity. At the same time, the national rolling back of ESG, DEI and wider CSR agendas has reduced investment in the very communities and young people our work exists to support. Despite this, Voyage remains resilient and is committed to overcoming these challenges. We have developed a business-led approach that places our young people at the centre of reversing this trend demonstrating the essential role that diversity, youth leadership and social justice play in future-focused industries.
We support young people through accredited education offers leading to employment and industry accesswork and opportunities to highlight the voice of our young people. This pathway of empowerment can be seen in our longest-standing strand, rooted in our BTEC level II accredited Safer cities course designed to support young people who are at risk of being marginalized due to challenging behaviour, damaging relationships and poor engagement with school.
A major element of our renewed strategy is our focus on sustainability and climate justice. Our mission helps us connect our diversity agenda to these sectors that are currently under-represented yet abundant with opportunity. Voyage is therefore aligning youth leadership, diversity and green-skills development through:

Our constitution
Trustees provide oversight and scrutiny of Voyage’s management, operations and strategic direction, ensuring compliance with the Charity Commission and alignment with our mission, vision and values.
We are looking for additional skills in:

The Board
Trustees are appointed by the Nominations Committee with representation from the Youth Advisory Board. We are currently seeking at least two or more new Trustees to strengthen our Board and equip us for the opportunities and challenges ahead, including organisational growth, transformation to CIO status, programme development and national positioning. We are looking for people to act as advocates for Voyage, committed to our vision and mission. Prior trustee experience is not essential but can be very helpful.

Job Description
The Board meets 4–6 times a year for up to two hours, with an additional annual Away Day. Meetings are held both virtually and in person. We use an online portal to share papers and reports.
Trustees are expected to:
·prepare for and attend meetings
·contribute actively to discussions
·attend up to two events per year
The time commitment is approximately one day per month on average, occasionally higher at key points in the year.
Each Trustee will hold a specific remit or portfolio area aligned to their expertise and will keep the Board informed about developments and opportunities within that area.
Remuneration
Trustee roles are unremunerated; however, reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. If finances present a barrier to participation, please discuss this with us.

We are seeking to appoint two new Independent Governors who have significant senior level expertise in finance, accountancy and risk. PiP is seeking a trustee with diverse skills to deliver an ambitious five-year strategy, supporting adults with learning disabilities. Following significant growth over the last five years, we are now seeking to deepen our support offer, expand the number of people we directly support, and scope how we can influence systems change alongside people with learning disabilities.
Our trustees play a significant role in supporting, guiding, & governing our work. They share collective responsibility for governance, compliance and accountability, while also contributing their individual skills, perspectives and experience to board discussions and decision-making.
Our current Board is diverse in terms of gender, race, age, and experience and this is a strength that we're keen to retain. So, if you're a first-time trustee, have a non-typical background, or have access needs, please do especially consider reaching out to discuss the role with our CEO.

There are six Board meetings each year, typically held on weekday evenings between 5.00 pm and 7.00 pm. Trustees may like to participate in committees or working groups. The role is voluntary and unpaid, but reasonable expenses, such as travel and caring responsibilities, will be reimbursed.

New World Book Day Trustees
WBD is governed by its board of trustees, 3 of which are appointed by the Publishers' Association and 3 by the Booksellers' Association, each in their capacity as a founding member. · Publishers' Association Appointed Trustee: This trustee will be an individual from within the publishing industry. · Education/literacy trustee: This person will have senior level strategic education and/or literacy experience, ideally derived from lived experience as an educator, academic or policy expert.
