The e-Assessment Association (eAA) is the leading professional membership body promoting better assessment through technology. We bring together awarding organisations, education providers, technology suppliers, researchers and policymakers to advance high-quality, innovative assessment practice in the UK and internationally.
We are now seeking a new Chair of the Board to lead the next phase of the Association’s development.
This is a high-impact governance role for an experienced senior leader who is passionate about assessment, education and technology, and who enjoys working collaboratively to make a difference across a complex and evolving sector.
Why this role matters
The Chair plays a pivotal role in shaping the direction, influence and effectiveness of the eAA.
Working with a committed Board of Directors and a small, professional operational team, the Chair provides strategic leadership, ensures strong governance, and acts as an ambassador for the Association and its members.
The Chair of the eAA Limited also serves as Chair of the Board of e-Assessment Services Limited, the Association’s trading subsidiary, supporting the sustainability and growth of the organisation.
This is an opportunity to:
- lead a respected, member-led organisation at the forefront of digital assessment;
- influence policy, practice and debate across assessment and education technology;

The role is supported by an annual honorarium of £6,000 in recognition of the time commitment and responsibility involved.
What you’ll be doing
As Chair, you will:
Provide strategic leadership
- Lead the Board in setting the strategic direction of the Association and monitoring progress against agreed objectives.
- Support the long-term sustainability, relevance and impact of the eAA.
Ensure strong governance
Ensure the Association operates within its governance framework and complies with all statutory and fiduciary duties.
Foster a positive, inclusive and professional Board culture that encourages open discussion, diverse perspectives and collective decision-making.
Work closely with the Vice-Chair and other Directors to maintain continuity and effective governance processes.
Support and challenge the Executive
- Provide support, guidance and constructive challenge to the CEO and operations team.
- Oversee performance against strategic and operational goals.
- Review budgets, management accounts and strategic plans in collaboration with the Treasurer and executive team.
Represent and advocate
- Act as an ambassador for the Association with members, partners, sponsors and external stakeholders.
- Represent the eAA at key events, including the e-Assessment International Conference and Awards.
- Use your networks and credibility to enhance the Association’s profile and influence.
Essential experience and attributes
- Senior leadership experience within assessment, education or educational technology.
- A strong understanding of assessment principles and the role of technology in transforming assessment practice.
- Demonstrated Board-level governance experience, ideally within a company limited by guarantee, charity or membership organisation.
- Excellent chairing and facilitation skills, with the ability to lead a diverse Board effectively.
- Strategic thinking, integrity and the confidence to provide constructive challenge.
- Strong communication and ambassadorial skills.

- Experience of working in or alongside professional associations or member-led organisations.

The BFWG Charitable Foundation, an educational charity that supports the advancement of women graduates through postgraduate grants, is seeking to appoint up to two Trustees, including a Chair, to join its Board.
Trustees
As the terms of office for two trustees come to an end, FfWG is seeking to appoint two Trustees to join its board. With the current Chair’s term ending in July this year, FfWG is looking to appoint a new Chair. If necessary, a current trustee has agreed to act as interim Chair for one year and to mentor a new trustee, enabling them to feel confident in stepping into the Chair role after a year.
What we are looking for:
We are looking for people who share our commitment to supporting women in higher education.
We welcome applications from all backgrounds, but we’d be particularly interested in those with experience in any of the following:
Working with non-profit organisations
Working in Higher Education or recent experience of completing a PhD.
Fundraising – particularly working with high-net-worth individuals. We’d love to grow the size of our investment to enable us to support more women.
Expected time commitment:
Attendance at quarterly Board meetings. The February and September board meetings are held online, the May and November ones are in-person (held on a workday during the day (11am – 1pm) in central London).
Occasional committee or working group participation where relevant
Trustees are appointed for an initial three-year term, with the option of renewal for a further three years
Expenses:
The Trustee role is voluntary, with reasonable expenses reimbursed. FfWG reimburses the cost of travel to attend its twice yearly in-person board meetings in London but does not reimburse overnight accommodation.

About BFWG Charitable Foundation
(Trading as Funds for Women Graduates (FfWG))
Funds for Women Graduates (FfWG) is an educational charity whose objective is promoting the higher education and wider learning of women graduates. We do this by awarding grants to assist with the living expenses of women postgraduate students, typically in the final year of work towards a PhD or equivalent degree.
BACKGROUND OF FfWG
FfWG is the trading name of the BFWG Charitable Foundation. It was originally incorporated in 1925 as the Crosby Hall Association Limited. It changed its name to BFWG Charitable Foundation in 1993. It became a registered charity in 1971. In 2025, the Charity converted to a CIO.
Although FfWG has been awarding grants since 1993 this was not its original purpose. Its original objective was to run a hall of residence, Crosby Hall, on behalf of its parent company the British Federation of Women Graduates (BFWG). This it did until 1992. Crosby Hall was sold, and the money raised by the sale of the lease has been invested. The proceeds provide funds to offer grants to women graduate scholars.
GRANT MAKING
FfWG offers grants to women graduates to help with their living expenses, but not fees, while registered for study or research at an approved institution of higher education in Great Britain. The criteria for awarding grants are the proven needs of the applicants and their academic calibre.
The first grant was awarded in 1993. Since then, well over two thousand grants have been made to women in need who aspire to help themselves and others by completing higher degrees covering a wide range of subjects. FfWG not only helps women from Great Britain but also women from all over the world who come to study or undertake research in Great Britain. Geographically FfWG covers England, Wales and Scotland. This is historic and is because the Irish Federation of University Women works across the whole of Ireland.
The two main types of grants offered by FfWG are Foundation Grants and Emergency Grants. Foundation Grants are offered to women graduates in their final year of a PhD or DPhil. Emergency Grants are offered to women postgraduates who face unforeseen financial crises whilst engaged in study or research.
In addition to the Foundation and Emergency Grants, approximately every third year FfWG provides the funds to Graduate Women International (GWI) to offer a fellowship, the value of this is £6,000. It is known as the FfWG Fellowship.
Up to two Theodora Bosanquet Bursaries are offered annually to women graduates whose research in History or English Literature requires a short residency in London in the summer.

BSH is a registered charity and professional membership organisation governed by a Board of Trustees, mostly elected from our 1,300 members - heart failure clinicians including doctors, nurses, and pharmacists. The Trustee is a co-opted position, appointed for their senior leadership expertise.
Our team is small and mostly remote, with occasional co-workling usually in London. The Board consists of 9 volunteers and is supported by over 50 active committee members working across education, research, and regulatory affairs.

People & Planet is looking for volunteers to assist with compiling its 2026/27 People & Planet University League; the only higher education ranking that classifies based on ethics and climate justice criteria.
Universities impart skills and knowledge, form life-long beliefs and behaviours, act as centres of communities, employ, house and feed large numbers of people and promote the creation and sharing of knowledge. We believe this makes them uniquely placed to lead on environmental and ethical issues. For this reason the People & Planet University League has been running since 2007 and has been published by high-profile media partners such as The Guardian (2021, 2022. 2023, 2024, 2025), The BBC, and whose data is used in the Sunday Time Good University Guide.
Volunteers will research publicly available university documents and assess universities against our marking criteria, which cover a wide range of climate and social justice issues including decarbonisation, fossil fuel divestment, ethical banking, workers’ rights and environmental management among others. This work will help to incentivise the university sector towards taking immediate and appropriate action on the climate crisis and upholding the rights and wellbeing of all people internationally.

Trailblazers’ mission is to reduce re-offending and inspire new futures. Your support will help a young man to reconnect with his community, friends and loved ones, go into education, training and employment, and give a person a sense of hope for the future.
Trailblazers has been providing mentoring services to people in prison since 1998 with ultimate aim to reduce re-offending. We provide support to men between the age of 18 - 35 in custody who have 6 months left of their prison sentence, and then 'through the gate' into their own community for up to 12 months. The Education, Training & Employment (ETE) team supports our mentees in custody to break down barriers to employability. Post-release, this continues by supporting mentees to gain meaningful and career changing roles in sector specific industries such as Construction, Engineering, Catering & Hospitality or the Self-Employment route.
The ETE team are looking to build a team of volunteers to work with mentees in the community and to shape the existing ETE service in the Thames Valley area. We are looking for volunteer mentors who can commit for up to 12 months and give a few hours a week to support men to change their life by being inspirational role models, helping with goal setting and supporting their mentee to access ETE opportunities and ultimately gain meaningful employment. Mentoring sessions will be 1:1, take place weekly and can be done remotely by telephone or online. These sessions will last approximately one hour, but some time should also be given to liaising with Trailblazers staff and researching relevant opportunities.
Induction training is provided, out of pocket expenses covered, a mobile phone is provided to protect your identity, a Trailblazers T-shirt and lanyard are provided, DBS costs are covered, as well as regular reflective practice sessions to support you within your role.

Role Description
As a Project Coordinator (PC), you will be a key part of the Summer Team, supporting the smooth operation of EPAfrica’s in-country summer programme. You’ll work alongside the Project Manager and other Project Coordinators to provide on-the-ground coordination, logistical support, and pastoral care for our Project Associates. Key Responsibilities

The Early Education and Childcare Coalition is a policy and advocacy partnership working to transform the system for families. We unite the voices of all those with a stake in the future of early education and childcare – children, parents, providers, the early years workforce and the business community. Founded by more than 30 organisations, our members are parent campaign groups, child advocacy organisations, early childhood experts, antipoverty campaigners, provider membership bodies, trade unions and business lobbying groups.
Our vision is of a high-quality, inclusive system of early education and childcare that is accessible to all children, affordable for parents, fairly funded for providers, and offers decent pay and conditions for the workforce. Our mission is to rescue and reform the system by combining urgent policy measures to stabilise the sector with long-term transformation.
About us
The Coalition was co-designed throughout 2022 by more than 30 organisations and launched publicly in 2023. Since then, we have gone from strength to strength, concluding a successful hosting relationship and becoming an independent organisation in the summer of 2025, with a team of eight staff influencing policymaking and connecting families, providers and decision-makers through advocacy, co-production and convening.
Please note that the Coalition is in the process of registering as a charity; therefore, it is expected that board members will transition to become trustees within the next year.
About you
We are looking to grow our new board and strengthen our succession planning. Therefore, board membership could include taking on senior roles within the Board following a familiarisation period and supported development.

About the role
Board members will work closely with the Coalition’s Executive Director, staff team and Advisory Group to ensure the success of the organisation to meet its aim to transform early education and childcare in England.
Board members are legally responsible for running the company, making sure information is sent to Companies House on time, setting the strategic direction of the organisation, monitoring progress, ensuring good governance and supporting the staff team in their work.
Board members must follow the rules set out in the company’s Articles of Association, agree to act in the best interests of the organisation and raise any conflicts of interests throughout their term.
Responsibilities:

Provide financial oversight of the organisation including overseeing budgeting, monitoring performance, signing off accounts, financial reporting and fundraising. (The Board Treasurer will lead on financial management and assessing financial risk, but financial oversight is a duty of all board members).

Time commitment
Board members will be required to attend up to five board meetings per year for approximately two hours each (with up to 4 hours preparation time). These are usually held on Zoom, with one away day in London expected per year with the staff team. Any travel and other related and reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
Papers will be shared ahead of time and reading and preparation is expected ahead of each meeting.
Board members may also be asked between meetings to act as signatories, give time to contribute to reports, applications and accounts, and provide advice and guidance to the Executive Director and wider staff team on specific topics and/ or issues.
The predicted time commitment for the Board members is estimated at 2-4 hours per month depending on Board role with one away day.

Shooting Star Children’s Hospices is seeking an experienced and dedicated academic with a strong interest in paediatric palliative care, or related field to join our Research Governance Committee as a Volunteer Academic Member. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the strategic development of research at a research active children’s hospice, to ensure that our research activities meet the highest standards of integrity, ethics and governance.

We believe assessment should not only measure performance, but also support learning, reduce harmful bias, and help every learner grow in a fair and transparent way. We are looking for a Grant Application Writer who believes in this mission and wants to help us turn strong ideas into strong funding applications. In this role, you will help Curans identify, shape, and write competitive grant applications for opportunities in medical education, digital health, assessment innovation, and fairness in clinical training.

Our main publication, The Saharan is an interdisciplinary journal published by NIAS aimed at exploring the dynamic relationship between culture and development in Africa/UK.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Support the editors in the sourcing & production of blog and journal publications
- Checking material for completeness, copy-edit and check appropriate non-technical material such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter updates
- Generate, check and correct files with names, contact information, number of articles, review assessments, and consent forms.
- Serve as a custodian of approved originals of all documentation produced for The Saharan journal
- Use NIAS LinkedIn account to connect to academics and groups to promote the journal, acquire papers, and attract skilled scholars to become reviewers
- Coordinate the publication flow of the journal and all stages of the editorial processes upon the release of each issue
- Review and adjust publications according to the style of the journal, ensuring the correct usage of references and plagiarism checking
- Update wordpress website and a range of social media accounts with news, updates and promotions
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST:
- Have a minimum of undergraduate degree
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office applications
- Good knowledge of wordpress, crm, social media tools
- Demonstrate excellent editorial and administrative skills together with high attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure to tight schedules and deadlines

The position is based in London, UK. Only candidates who already possess the right to work in the UK should apply. The contract is for three months with a probation period of six weeks, extendable upon agreement and contingent on a continued volunteer/paid position.
