Your expert understanding of charity and/or company accounts and financial management will ensure that trustees exercise their financial responsibilities. You will act as lead trustee on overseeing the annual audit, and advise on financial procedures, regular financial reporting and forecasting.
This will involve chairing the Trust’s Audit Committee, which meets once a year to receive draft charity accounts and audit reports for The Abbotsford Trust and its subsidiary Abbotsford Trading Company. This is a chance to make a huge difference through volunteering as Trustee for a life-saving charity which has been having a positive impact in North Somerset since 1994. We provide professional, low cost counselling and mental health support for people who cannot get the help they need through the NHS and cannot afford to pay for private therapy. You will hear testimonies of adults and teenagers who have had their lives turned around because of Wellspring. The Finance Trustee plays a vital role in keeping our organisation on track by ensuring accounts are kept up to date and accurately, having oversight of all our financial matters and providing forecasting to help keep the charity viable and sustainable.
The Finance Trustee should be or have been a finance professional preferably with experience in accounting. You will keep in contact with the Director and Administrator regularly (1-2 times per month), and meet with the other friendly and caring Board of Trustees once every two months to report on our finances.

Growing Hope Maidstone champions accessibility and provides free therapy for children with additional needs and their families in partnership with local churches. We aim to bring hope to children through providing free therapy. We grow hope for families where hope has been lost due to isolation and rejection through our free courses and workshops, and more. Growing Hope was founded by Dr Naomi Fox who started the national charity and the first local clinic in Kings Cross in February 2018. Knowing how desperate families are for support, Growing Hope bridges the gap between the need and availability of therapy services. Growing Hope national charity provide support, structures, services and training to local Growing Hope clinics and have a vision to set up twenty clinics in partnership with local churches by 2030.

Growing Hope Maidstone is set up in partnership with St. Luke’s Maidstone and seeks to be a collaborative venture with other local churches. As our Finance Assistant, you’ll be a vital part of the team, helping ensure that CWV’s finances run smoothly and transparently. You’ll manage day-to-day bookkeeping, assist with budgeting and reporting, and support compliance with charity financial standards.
You’ll work closely with the CEO, Operations team, and external accountants to make sure every penny is accounted for — and that we can continue delivering essential programmes in our community.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping using QuickBooks
Record income, donations, and grant payments
Create and process invoices, receipts, and staff expenses
Reconcile bank accounts
Support preparation of management accounts and reports
Assist with grant reporting and annual audit preparation
Ensure compliance with charity finance policies and procedures
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
Experienced in bookkeeping or finance administration
Comfortable using accounting software and Excel
Highly organised with great attention to detail
Able to work independently and handle confidential information responsibly
Passionate about supporting a small charity with a big heart
Desirable:
Experience in the charity or voluntary sector
Knowledge of restricted/unrestricted funds or Gift Aid
AAT qualification (or working towards)
