Sense is a leading disability charity with extensive knowledge and expertise in delivering personalised, creative and flexible support for disabled people with complex needs. Our tailored approach ensures that every person is empowered to live fully at every stage of life.
About the role:
As a community champion volunteer you’ll be supporting Sense’s fundraising team, playing a vital role in helping Sense to raise funds and awareness to support people with complex disabilities.
You’ll engage with individuals, local businesses, and regional press to share our mission, organise events, and inspire others to take action. Whether you’re great at planning events, researching opportunities or connecting with your community, this role has something for you.
This is a flexible role, with the opportunity to volunteer either virtually or in your local community. We are looking for volunteers able to offer a minimum commitment of 2 hours per month.
We’re looking for people who are passionate about Sense’s work to support disabled people with complex needs and who have a calm, kind and friendly personality.
Please note that you will not be providing care for the people Sense supports as part of this role.
Due to the nature of the volunteer role, we cannot accept applications for anyone under the age of 18.
The four areas of the role:
As a Community Champion, you’ll have the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities, organised into four main role categories. You can choose to get involved in one or more of these areas, and we’ll discuss your preferences with you as part of the application process. Please note, we don’t expect volunteers to take on every area. Instead, we’ll focus on what interests you most and shape the role around your strengths and skills.
Event volunteer:
Support Sense’s Community Fundraising team by:
- Organising your own fundraising events in aid of Sense.
- Supporting and participating in fundraising events at your local Sense services, and shops.
- Supporting with fundraising admin, for example sourcing prizes for Sense fundraisers.
Skills needed:
- Creative, with fresh fundraising ideas and enthusiasm.
- Organised, with the ability help co-ordinate multiple aspects of an event.
Local public relations (PR) volunteer:
Boost Sense’s profile in your local community by:
- Writing content for local press releases.
- Building a network of local media contacts.
- Supporting regional output of national campaigns.
Skills needed:
- Strong written communication
- Able to follow branding and messaging guidelines.
- Self-motivated and proactive in seeking opportunities.
Fundraising researcher:
Help boost Sense’s regional income by researching available grants, partnerships and other local connections. Responsibilities include:
- Researching local grants and business partnerships.
- Researching networking events.
- Helping us to source prizes for Sense fundraising events.
Skills needed:
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently.
- Organised, ensuring new leads are accurately recorded and shared.
Community connector:
Act as an ambassador for Sense, attending events across your community to thank supporters, and forge new partnerships.
- Attending cheque presentations, thanking our supporters.
- Giving presentations about Sense to local schools and community groups.
- Engaging with local businesses and groups, to forge new relationships for Sense.
Skills needed:
- Strong communication skills and enjoys public speaking opportunities.
- Well-connected in their local area, and love engaging with people.

Join Canine Partners as a Speaker Volunteer! You’ll deliver fun and inspiring talks to local groups, schools, and clubs, sharing the incredible impact of our assistance dogs and the lives they change. This role offers flexibility, is deeply rewarding and perfect for confident communicators. We provide all the training, support, and materials you need to make a meaningful impact in your community.
About the opportunity
This role involves providing talks to a variety of groups, schools and organisations within your local area, raising awareness and promoting our fundraising activities.
There is no minimum commitment for this role. Times can vary, and you can choose which talks you attend. Talks primarily take place during the week, with some evenings. The length of each talk will vary depending on the group’s requirements.
You will be provided with speaker training before beginning this role. Talk requests are handled by the Canine Partners fundraising team; however, we would encourage you to secure your own talks within your local area.
What’s involved
- Giving talks about the charity to groups, schools and organisations in your local area
- Raising awareness of Canine Partners and what we do
- Promoting fundraising activities
- Attending cheque presentations
- Handing out literature, taking donations, and directing people to our website
- Passing on any leads to the Community Fundraising team
Role requirements
- Age 18 or over
- Online attendance at Speaker Training sessions
- Access to transport with flexibility to visit different locations
- Polite, confident and personable manner
- Experience in public speaking or delivering presentations to small groups
- Comfortable using PowerPoint presentation and showing YouTube videos
- Excellent customer service skills
- Most opportunities require standing for the duration of the session and/or being in a busy environment. Please advise us if you have any concerns about this, and we will do our best to support you.

About the role:
As a community champion volunteer you’ll be supporting Sense’s fundraising team, playing a vital role in helping Sense to raise funds and awareness to support people with complex disabilities.
You’ll engage with individuals, local businesses, and regional press to share our mission, organise events, and inspire others to take action. Whether you’re great at planning events, researching opportunities or connecting with your community, this role has something for you.
This is a flexible role, with the opportunity to volunteer either virtually or in your local community. We are looking for volunteers able to offer a minimum commitment of 2 hours per month.
We’re looking for people who are passionate about Sense’s work to support disabled people with complex needs and who have a calm, kind and friendly personality.
Please note that you will not be providing care for the people Sense supports as part of this role.
Due to the nature of the volunteer role, we cannot accept applications for anyone under the age of 18.
The four areas of the role:
As a Community Champion, you’ll have the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities, organised into four main role categories. You can choose to get involved in one or more of these areas, and we’ll discuss your preferences with you as part of the application process. Please note, we don’t expect volunteers to take on every area. Instead, we’ll focus on what interests you most and shape the role around your strengths and skills.
Event volunteer:
Support Sense’s Community Fundraising team by:
- Organising your own fundraising events in aid of Sense.
- Supporting and participating in fundraising events at your local Sense services, and shops.
- Supporting with fundraising admin, for example sourcing prizes for Sense fundraisers.
Skills needed:
- Creative, with fresh fundraising ideas and enthusiasm.
- Organised, with the ability help co-ordinate multiple aspects of an event.
Local public relations (PR) volunteer:
Boost Sense’s profile in your local community by:
- Writing content for local press releases.
- Building a network of local media contacts.
- Supporting regional output of national campaigns.
Skills needed:
- Strong written communication
- Able to follow branding and messaging guidelines.
- Self-motivated and proactive in seeking opportunities.
Fundraising researcher:
Help boost Sense’s regional income by researching available grants, partnerships and other local connections. Responsibilities include:
- Researching local grants and business partnerships.
- Researching networking events.
- Helping us to source prizes for Sense fundraising events.
Skills needed:
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently.
- Organised, ensuring new leads are accurately recorded and shared.
Community connector:
Act as an ambassador for Sense, attending events across your community to thank supporters, and forge new partnerships.
- Attending cheque presentations, thanking our supporters.
- Giving presentations about Sense to local schools and community groups.
- Engaging with local businesses and groups, to forge new relationships for Sense.
Skills needed:
- Strong communication skills and enjoys public speaking opportunities.
- Well-connected in their local area, and love engaging with people.

EDINBURGH MARATHON FESTIVAL
We are delighted to be Charity Partner for the Edinburgh Marathon this year, and are looking forward to supporting the event and all of the wonderful participants, some of whom will be running on our behalf.
In order to support this event, we are looking for a team of volunteers to help with a couple of roles which will include:
- Cheering on the runners, to create a supportive and engaging atmosphere
- Charity Tent Marshalls

About us
We’re part of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, a national youth organisation empowering 12- to 20-year-olds through flying, adventure training, sports, and leadership development.
West Mercian Wing supports over 900 cadets across 27 squadrons in Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire, the Black Country, and Cyprus. Each squadron is supported by a committee of trustees who oversee governance, fundraising, and community engagement, helping ensure incredible opportunities for young people.
What’s involved
Being a trustee is a simple but highly impactful way to support your local squadron:
- Attend quarterly meetings (around two hours each)
- Discuss finances, fundraising, priorities, and squadron activities
- Take part in decisions, especially financial and strategic matters
- Support events, networking, or community initiatives
Typical commitment: 8-12 hours per year.
Who we’re looking for
Trustees come from all walks of life. No military, youth work, or charity experience is required. Trustees actively participate in meetings and decisions – there’s no obligation to take on an elected role.
Eligibility:
- Must be 20 years or older.
- Must have lived in the UK for 3 or more years.
Useful skills (optional but welcomed):
- Finance, budgeting, or business management
- Fundraising or grant writing
- Event planning or project management
- Governance, committee, or leadership experience
- Local networks or community connections
We particularly welcome:
- Applicants from under-represented communities.
- Younger adults. Only 1% of trustees in the UK are under 30 (Charity Commission and Pro Bono Economics 2025), and we particularly encourage applications from people wanting to grow their skills while making a real impact.

We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our Community Fundraising team at our Slough Tesco Bucket Collection event, to help us raise money for our Fight for Home!
At least 382,000 people are homeless in England today. We provide vital services to those at risk, with our emergency helpline, housing rights campaigns, legal and emotional support.
Your role as volunteer:
· The main thing we need you to do is help us fundraise. You’ll be vital to our fundraising efforts for our Fight for Home by holding collection buckets at Slough Tesco.
· You’ll be supported by one of our Community and Events Assistants or Lead Volunteers to help us to create an energetic and friendly atmosphere to gather donations.

Volunteer Events Coordinator responsibilities
- Contacting stallholders to follow up on payments and documents
- Keeping our shared Google Drive and spreadsheets tidy and up to date

The difference you will make to cats and people
As a charity, we are only able to help thousands of cats and kittens each year thanks to the donations we receive from generous members of the public. Fundraising events are a great source of income for the charity. As a Cheer Squad Volunteer, you will support Cats Protection’s event participants make it through their challenge by cheering them on at selected cheering points along event routes. You will also be instrumental in raising awareness and representing the charity.
What can you expect to be doing?
- Cheer on our event participants who are taking part to raise funds for Cats Protection.
- Waving hand flags
- Using inflatable ‘bangers’ to make noise
- Shake maraca’s
- High ‘paw’ participants
- Represent Cats Protection by wearing one of our branded high-vis vests (supplied).
- Set up cheer spots including attaching banners, putting together sail flags and blowing up balloons.
- Provide a smile, enthusiasm and motivation
