No one should die because they needed first aid and didn’t get it. St John Ambulance teaches people first aid so they can be the difference between life and death, and you can help us do this.

We are seeking Event Paramedics to respond to and manage emergency calls/incidents whilst attending events. At all times provide specialist, clinical, social and holistic care to undertake clinical assessment and interventions those individuals in the pre-hospital environment, which may include stadia, concerts, motorsports, road races etc. This may encompass working on both ambulances / FRV’s and within treatment units as required.

Successful candidates will be registered Paramedics with the HCPC and be able to provide evidence of CPD activity within the previous 12 months.

As a health professional volunteer, you would support our First Aid teams with patients who need more complex assessment or treatment, prescription medications or admission to hospital. We would warmly welcome you into our clinical team, provide all your training, uniform and equipment and offer you a great chance to work as part of a friendly prehospital care team, with good clinical support from experienced colleagues. 

You would join our group of over 20 Kent doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and paramedics who already give their time to volunteer with St John Ambulance. 

We have clinicians of all specialities in our teams and are happy to provide clinical supervision for those in training grades. We understand how tiring your work shifts can be, and that your duty to your NHS patients will always come first, and we can offer you flexibility around volunteering shifts as well as paid travel to, and accommodation at events.

 Please note, this is a Kent County wide advert for health professional volunteers, and once you are onboarded to the organisation you will be managed by one of the local networks and supported by the County Clinical Team. At St John Ambulance, we are looking to develop our volunteering offer and become an even more integral part of our communities through delivering community first aid and education. 

Bedfordshire is made of of 2 Networks, one based in Bedford who meet on a Monday evening and one based in Dunstable who meet on a Wednesday evening, both at 8pm.Events Bedfordshire has historically covered are Bedford River Festival, Dunstable music events, Luton Town FC, Bedford Athletic club and Bedford blues rugby.

We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference. Through volunteering as an Emergency Responder, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering essential first aid and lifesaving clinical care at community and major events in your areas, including at sporting events, concerts, community festivals.

We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. We will also provide you with a supportive environment while you are volunteering with us. Information about our volunteer roles is included in the role descriptions. This role is subject to a 6 day training course which will be spread across 3 weekends. Event nurses shall provide specialist, clinical, social and holistic care and undertake clinical assessment and interventions in the pre-hospital environment, which may include venues such as stadia, concert halls, motorsports tracks, road races etc. This will mainly involve working in treatment units or temporary event medical centres.

Successful candidates will be registered nurses with the NMC and be able to provide evidence of CPD activity within the previous 12 months.

We want enthusiastic people to help us support our networks youth programme and build a youth strong team

Young people play a crucial role in helping us realise this mission. As a volunteer with our youth teams, you’ll be trained to provide our young people with both life skills and lifesaving skills – all while having great fun!

You’ll be working with our brilliant Badgers (aged 7-10) or creative Cadets (aged 11-18). You’ll also have the opportunity to design your own role, whether that involves running fun activities – such as outdoor events, summer camps and mountain adventures – or providing ‘behind-the-scenes’ support.

We’ll offer you the chance to become a fully-fledged Youth Leader, which will mean completing extra courses in First Aid or Adventure to broaden your capacity and experience.

Would you like to volunteer once a week or once a month? That’s entirely up to you. With the constant guidance of a friendly volunteer manager and youth team, you’ll have all the support you need to make bold strides and rediscover your inner ‘big kid’.

We are seeking new Professional members of the Registry Steering Committee (RSC) to help shape the future of the Registry and ensure it meets the needs of people with CF, clinical teams, researchers and other stakeholders.

This is a voluntary role (unpaid), but reasonable expenses can be claimed for travel to attend meetings in person if required.

This role part time and home based.  This is a UK based role and candidates need to be UK based.

Term and commitment

• RSC membership term: three years (minimum one term).
• RSC meets quarterly (commitment to attend at least two meetings per year).

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to strategic discussions and decision-making about the Registry’s direction.
• Review RSC papers and related documents outside scheduled meetings.
• Act as an advocate for the UK CF Registry.
• Optional: Join the Registry Data Review Group. This group meets online every six weeks and members provide Registry data request approval.

Essential experience and attributes

• Knowledge of cystic fibrosis and its key challenges.
• Ability to actively contribute to committee discussions and support informed decision-making.
• Ideally some experience working with the UK CF Registry or using its data outputs.
• CF clinicians and AHPs should be members of relevant professional bodies (e.g., BTS/BPRS, RCP/RCN, Cystic Fibrosis Specialist Group, CFMA).

Join the RCGP Scottish Patient Forum

The Royal College of General Practitioners Scotland is recruiting new members to the RCGP Scottish Patient Forum.

From feeding into policy consultations, to assisting with the development of College communications and campaigns, members of the RCGP Scottish Patient Forum play a key role in helping to shape the work of the College in Scotland.

This is a voluntary role for a term of up to three years. 

You do not need experience of being on a committee or advisory group.

What You’ll Do

· Take part in up to three online Forum meetings per year, offering your insights and lived experience.

· Provide feedback on RCGP Scotland policy papers, consultation responses and strategic documents.

· Act as a sounding board for press and communications activity to help ensure the patient perspective is reflected.

· Represent the Forum at relevant conferences, workshops, seminars or clinical groups (subject to your availability).

· Contribute to wider College activities where capacity and interest allow.

As our Risk & Assurance Trustee, you will provide expert risk and assurance oversight and strategic counsel to the Board of Trustees. Working closely with the Executive Leadership Team, Head of Integrated Assurance & Internal Audit, External and Internal Auditors, you will oversee the scrutinisation of SJA policies, processes, structures and actions, ensuring the organisation is mitigating risk but also building a sustainable future. You will also chair the Risk & Assurance Committee.
