Purpose: To secure funding for Youth Kaleidoscope by researching, writing and submitting high-quality grant and sponsorship proposals, and by tracking and reporting on grant applications and outcomes to ensure sustainability and growth.

Key Responsibilities

Grant & Sponsorship Proposals:

• Research funding opportunities from trusts, foundations, corporate sponsors, and statutory bodies. 

• Draft, tailor, and submit compelling grant and sponsorship proposals that align with Kaleidoscope mission and project needs. 

• Collaborate with relevant team members to gather data, impact stories, and supporting documents for applications. 

Grant Tracking & Reporting :

• Maintain an up-to-date log of all applications, deadlines, and outcomes. 

• Monitor the progress of applications and respond to funder queries as needed. 

• Prepare and submit timely progress and outcome reports to funders, ensuring compliance with grant conditions. 

• Analyse outcomes to inform future strategy and improve success rates. 

Additional Duties:

• Attend team meetings - 1 hour online on a fortnightly basis

• Contribute to the development of fundraising strategies and share insights on funding trends 

Essential Skills and Attributes

• Proven experience in grant writing, fundraising or bid writing (charity sector experience desirable). 

• High level of written and spoken English.

• Excellent research, writing, and editing skills with strong attention to detail.

We are looking for a Communications Officer who can strategically identify and post engaging content for our social media feeds and other communication channels, which will inspire people to support our work with refugees and asylum seekers in Epirus. You are the person who thinks “this would make a good post”, while activities are taking place. More than that, your interest and belief in digital communications as a force for good should be backed with an interest in data and analytics, using them to influence our overall communication strategy.

Your role would include:

• Interacting with our digital communities to increase engagement, followers and the quality of user experience.

• Identifying key influencers and conversations that we should engage in to better showcase our work and expand our reach.

• Managing our other channels of communication, including newsletters, donor engagement, website and press service.

You should be able to:

• Manage communication channels in a professional capacity

• Create and deliver communication strategies for specific programmes and campaigns

• Produce regular data reports using Facebook Insights, LinkedIn Analytics, Google Analytics or similar tools, analysing data and adapt strategies accordingly 

• Keep up-to-date with the latest trends/developments in digital communications

• Identify key influential external figures and agencies to further our reach and impact

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience working in a refugee context or with a vulnerable population

• Experience working in an NGO, Charity or in the field of human rights

• You will be able to claim reasonable volunteering expenses in line with Shelter’s volunteer expenses policy. Where financial circumstances would be a barrier to volunteering, we may be able to offer these funds in advance. 

• You will be able to access our volunteer support package, including our colleague assistance programme and Shelter’s network of mental health first aiders.

E-Commerce Volunteer 

Do you want to make a difference to someone experiencing the housing emergency one listing at a time? 

Information about the role 

As an E-commerce volunteer, you’ll help bring our shop online by selecting, preparing and listing items for sale on our digital platform.You’ll play a key role in turning donated goods into vital funds while keeping our online shop running smoothly. 

Location: 244 – 246 High Street West, Sunderland

Suggested contribution: It’s up to you! We have volunteers who support for one hour a week and others who volunteer more. Many people volunteer for a morning or an afternoon each week, but we’ll have a chat about your availability after you’ve applied. 

Availability: Monday – Saturday 9am - 5pm and Sunday 10am – 4pm
