This is an exciting time to lead Age UK Stockport’s Board. To be the Chair of Age UK Stockport is to be an active volunteer in our community. But it’s not the easiest volunteering role! It can be challenging, but it will be rewarding.
Our Board has recently been refreshed after the recruitment of three new trustees who, alongside our established trustees, complete the Board membership.
Our current Chair will be standing down later this year having served the maximum term for the role. We are looking for a dedicated, creative person, with a range of appropriate professional and life experiences to become our next Chair. They will have the interest and commitment to lead and drive forward the development of Age UK Stockport in line with our core values – to be Connected, Confident and Creative.
The successful candidate would join the Board as trustee and Chair Designate and then be elected Chair at the AGM in the autumn of 2026.
The Chair leads the Board, ensuring that it governs the charity effectively. You will support the Board to work together well and will manage and support the Chief Executive. The Chair is also an ambassador for the charity.

Who we are
Trans+ Learning Lab is a UK CIC delivering life‑changing education and training to gender‑diverse folks in challenging contexts.
The Trans+ Learning Lab CIC is made up of myself (the founder) Helmut (they/them, he/him) and the Uganda Lead, Mama Mityana (she/her). With future fundraising and comms, you will be involved in shaping our strategy to generate income to implement our other educational mission: to deliver low- or no-cost coding bootcamps to vulnerable LGBTQ+ communities in Africa and South Asia, and to deliver refugee-specific empowerment programmes.

The Position
We are looking for a Grants Officer who can support us with diverse tasks that include looking for grants opportunities, project development, proposals writing, and liaising with potential partners and donors. In this role you’ll be a key contributor to the continued existence of Second Tree, which is dependent on grants to survive, and to the creation of new projects and partnerships. To do this successfully, you'll need to employ meticulous time-management and organisation skills, as juggling multiple tasks with competing deadlines is common in this role.
The role will include:
Researching and identifying new grant opportunities on a weekly basis
Summarising relevant grant opportunities and suggesting how to best respond and comply with them
Researching information and data necessary for grants and grant reporting
Supporting the design of new projects
Supporting with proposal writing
Maintaining necessary records, files, reports, databases, and resource materials for the Grants team
Working with the wider Second Tree team to ensure that all project proposals align with organisational, and programme strategies
Establishing and maintaining connections with funding bodies
You should be able to:
Professionally communicate in English (verbally and in writing)
Read, comprehend, interpret, summarise and follow proposal guidelines
Work to tight deadlines with flexibility and a problem-solving attitude;

The ideal candidate will have:
Working knowledge of project management techniques such as LFA

Our inclusive communities challenge people to think differently about disability
The BFWG Charitable Foundation, an educational charity that supports the advancement of women graduates through postgraduate grants, is seeking to appoint up to two Trustees, including a Chair, to join its Board.
Trustees
As the terms of office for two trustees come to an end, FfWG is seeking to appoint two Trustees to join its board. With the current Chair’s term ending in July this year, FfWG is looking to appoint a new Chair. If necessary, a current trustee has agreed to act as interim Chair for one year and to mentor a new trustee, enabling them to feel confident in stepping into the Chair role after a year.
What we are looking for:
We are looking for people who share our commitment to supporting women in higher education.
We welcome applications from all backgrounds, but we’d be particularly interested in those with experience in any of the following:
Working with non-profit organisations
Working in Higher Education or recent experience of completing a PhD.
Fundraising – particularly working with high-net-worth individuals. We’d love to grow the size of our investment to enable us to support more women.
Expected time commitment:
Attendance at quarterly Board meetings. The February and September board meetings are held online, the May and November ones are in-person (held on a workday during the day (11am – 1pm) in central London).
Occasional committee or working group participation where relevant
Trustees are appointed for an initial three-year term, with the option of renewal for a further three years
Expenses:
The Trustee role is voluntary, with reasonable expenses reimbursed. FfWG reimburses the cost of travel to attend its twice yearly in-person board meetings in London but does not reimburse overnight accommodation.

Funds for Women Graduates (FfWG) is an educational charity whose objective is promoting the higher education and wider learning of women graduates. We do this by awarding grants to assist with the living expenses of women postgraduate students, typically in the final year of work towards a PhD or equivalent degree.
BACKGROUND OF FfWG
FfWG is the trading name of the BFWG Charitable Foundation. It was originally incorporated in 1925 as the Crosby Hall Association Limited. It changed its name to BFWG Charitable Foundation in 1993. It became a registered charity in 1971. In 2025, the Charity converted to a CIO.
Although FfWG has been awarding grants since 1993 this was not its original purpose. Its original objective was to run a hall of residence, Crosby Hall, on behalf of its parent company the British Federation of Women Graduates (BFWG). This it did until 1992. Crosby Hall was sold, and the money raised by the sale of the lease has been invested. The proceeds provide funds to offer grants to women graduate scholars.
GRANT MAKING
FfWG offers grants to women graduates to help with their living expenses, but not fees, while registered for study or research at an approved institution of higher education in Great Britain. The criteria for awarding grants are the proven needs of the applicants and their academic calibre.
The first grant was awarded in 1993. Since then, well over two thousand grants have been made to women in need who aspire to help themselves and others by completing higher degrees covering a wide range of subjects. FfWG not only helps women from Great Britain but also women from all over the world who come to study or undertake research in Great Britain. Geographically FfWG covers England, Wales and Scotland. This is historic and is because the Irish Federation of University Women works across the whole of Ireland.
The two main types of grants offered by FfWG are Foundation Grants and Emergency Grants. Foundation Grants are offered to women graduates in their final year of a PhD or DPhil. Emergency Grants are offered to women postgraduates who face unforeseen financial crises whilst engaged in study or research.
In addition to the Foundation and Emergency Grants, approximately every third year FfWG provides the funds to Graduate Women International (GWI) to offer a fellowship, the value of this is £6,000. It is known as the FfWG Fellowship.
Up to two Theodora Bosanquet Bursaries are offered annually to women graduates whose research in History or English Literature requires a short residency in London in the summer.

We are at a genuinely exciting point in our development. With a largely volunteer-led model that is embedded and working, and new trustees joining us to help shape our direction, we are focused on building a strategy that allows us to grow sustainably and serve LGBTQ+ young people more effectively across the UK. The people joining our board now will not just oversee that work - they will help design it.

Big Syn Institute (BSI) is a part of the Centre for Big Synergy and has been organising the Big Syn International Film Festival (BSIFF) since 2019.
The partnerships lead will work closely with senior leadership to identify and engage in commercial and strategic relationships with key partners, both online and offline, for the activities of BSI, London for various creative projects it runs including the World's Biggest sustainability film fest & awards.
Since 2019, the Big Syn Institute has hosted the festival has reached over 50M people and in over 120 countries. Through relevant shorts, features, animations, documentaries, CSR videos and Public Service Videos, Charity films, the festival advocates the United Nations 17 Global Goals and also celebrates the work of UK's marginalised filmmakers.
OSCAR, BAFTA and EMMY award-winners, as well as other luminaries from film and media, sustainability, and policy have been part of the festival and have supported it since inception. Winners from the festival have eventually won OSCARS and EMMY awards
