About the Programme

The Cultural Ambassadors Programme is designed to create a supportive, inclusive, and multicultural platform for newcomers settling in the UK. We are currently seeking Ambassadors who are passionate about sharing their lived experiences to support others particularly those settling in Greater Manchester, including Oldham, Rochdale, and Ashton-under-Lyne.

As an Ambassador, you will play a key role in helping newcomers navigate everyday challenges such as system integration, cost of living, and general life in the UK. Your experiences, insights, and voice will directly shape resources that make a real difference.

The Role of a Cultural Ambassador

As a Cultural Ambassador, you will:

• Share your personal experiences, challenges, and successes of settling in the UK
• Support newcomers by offering practical insights and peer-to-peer guidance
• Contribute content, ideas, and feedback for a culturally informed guidebook and website
• Take part in facilitated discussions and reflection sessions
• Help create a safe, respectful space for story-sharing and learning

Your voice is central to this project. Together, we will co-create tools filled with real-life advice and practical tips to support future arrivals.

Key Programme Information

• Who We’re Looking For: Individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds who are willing to share their stories and experiences to empower others
• Location Focus: Greater Manchester (Oldham, Rochdale, Ashton-under-Lyne)  Meeting Schedule: Ambassador sessions will take place every two weeks, starting January
• Format: Sessions may be virtual and/or in-person (details to be shared)

What’s Next

The first virtual Ambassador meeting will be on the 17th of January. Full details regarding your role, commitments, and the programme calendar will be shared shortly.

Our Admin Volunteers provide vital support to our staff and volunteers to help us reach as many people as possible with the Mary’s Meals story and help us keep our promise to the 3 million children we feed every day. Pease note that the admin volunteer role is not always available in all regions of the UK - please enquire for more information.

What is the role of an Admin Volunteer?

The role of Admin Volunteer may involve:

• Conducting research
• Data entry
• Contacting organisations to offer talks or promote our campaigns 
• Helping us to thank our supporters
• Supporting event organisation
• Providing general admin support
• Allocating volunteer speakers to booked talks

What difference will i make?

• You will enable us to reach more people with the story of Mary’s Meals
• You will support our staff in their work to feed the next hungry child
• You will help us find new places to give talks, and support volunteers who are giving these talks to have all the information they need
• You will ensure our records are up-to-date and accurate
• You will help us provide a good service to supporters

Do you enjoy outdoor spaces, flowers and nature? Can you appreciate the beauty of a well-maintained garden and enjoy taking care of it?

We’re looking for volunteer gardeners to help us maintain our gardens in our Walsall hospice.

At Acorns we provide care and support for life limited or life threatened children and their families. We have three hospices in the West Midlands, which provide a happy homely environment where children can experience all kinds of great activities, meet new friends or relax and enjoy some quiet time.

As a volunteer, you’ll get involved in a variety of hands-on tasks such as planting, weeding, path clearing, sweeping, and general garden maintenance. It's a rewarding way to contribute to our hospice community while enjoying nature and staying active.

Am i right for the role

We are currently seeking volunteers with relevant experience in gardening or outdoor maintenance, as their skills and knowledge will be invaluable in helping us care for and maintain our garden to a high standard.

Hours are flexible throughout the week, as some team members are unable to undertake heavier physical tasks, we are especially interested in applicants who are reasonably fit and enjoy hands-on outdoor work.

As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!

You can expect us to

What we need from you

You’ll be:

· help set up and/or man stalls at events

· help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections

· help at fundraising events such as quiz nights, cake sales and dances

· promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

Unfortunately, thousands of cats each year are abandoned or have strayed and rely on charities like Cats Protection for help. Becoming a trap, neuter and return (TNR) volunteer is one way you can make a real difference to cats in your local area. Our TNR volunteers help reduce the number of feral cats by raising awareness of our TNR programmes, setting humane traps to safely capture cats, taking them to local vets to be neutered, and hopefully returning them back to their territory. Local TNR programmes are crucial, as feral and abandoned cats present a huge challenge for communities across the UK.

You can expect us to

What we need from you

You’ll be:

• Trapping cats using humane methods
• Taking cats to local vets to be neutered 
• Returning cats to their territory or finding a suitable alternative

The role might also include:

• Regular feeding of feral colonies
• Promoting neutering by building relationships with farmers, land owners and local businesses
• Liaising with vets to promote and arrange neutering 

Time expectation 

This is a flexible role and the hours will vary depending on the number of cats identified for specific TNR campaigns. Our current TNR volunteers spend about 2 to 3 hours per week in this role which can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

Our treasurer volunteers maintain the finances of local groups and teams, ensuring they hold the funds needed to continue their vital work. Cats Protection relies solely on donations from generous members of the public, and our treasurer volunteers help make sure these funds are spent in the most effective way.

What we need from you

You’ll be:

•  Preparing budgets
• Keeping accurate financial records
• Reporting financial records via ‘Cashlog’ (Cats Protection supplied software)
• Paying invoices and volunteer expenses
• Being part of a team which ensures there are sufficient funds to meet expenditure
• Updating and advising others on income received, expenditure and available funds
• Managing and monitoring donations made to the group
• Following financial procedures e.g. Gift Aid returns and VAT claims

Time expectation

Our current volunteer treasurers usually spend between 2 to 4 hours per week in this role. More hours may be required at certain times, such as towards the end of the financial year but support is always available.

We are looking for passionate volunteers to directly support our schools in Ciudad Vieja and San Lorenzo El Cubo. Your work goes beyond the classroom:

• Assist teachers with the Dual Immersion Program and other key subjects.

• Lead workshops in sports, arts, or specialized skills.

• Provide personalized academic support to students from vulnerable communities.
