Do you want to help the youth of today become the lifesavers of tomorrow? We're on a mission to teach young people across the country how to save lives. It's a chance for them to learn important first aid skills in a fun, friendly, and safe environment. 

St John is one of the largest youth organisations in the country and many of our young volunteers go onto careers in health and/or social care.

Being a youth volunteer helps young people develop skills and confidence that go on to help them with further education and university applications. To do this we need dedicated and enthusiastic youth helpers. Do you have 2 hours in an evening, once a week during school term times to join our fun loving youth team supporting and developing our young inspirational volunteers? No matter what your interests: Crafting, Singing/Dancing, History, Science or caring for people/animals, we welcome you to join us. 

Full training is provided. This is a great opportunity to develop your own skills, knowledge and build on your CV. All whilst having fun, making friends and supporting your community. 

Our Badger are children aged 5-10 years of age and the Cadets are 11 – 17

Shooting Star Children’s Hospices is recruiting Non-Executive Members for our Income Generation Committee – inspiring leaders who can bring sharp insight, sector know-how and big-picture thinking to drive our fundraising, marketing and communications strategies forward. Duties and Key responsibilities

• Specialised in at least one (ideally more) of the following areas: Digital fundraising: digital acquisition, online giving, digital optimisation. Supporter journeys and engagement: insight-led supporter experience design. High-value fundraising and major campaigns: strategic planning, mobilisation, creative development, impact storytelling
• Forward-thinking: able to consider the bigger picture and ask the right questions to support informed decision-making.
• Collaborative and values-led, contributing constructively while upholding the organisation’s mission and values.
• Committed to volunteering, motivated to use their expertise to make a meaningful difference.

Upcycle Africa delivers an integrated, circular solution that transforms plastic pollution into affordable housing, dignified jobs, and sustainable local economies.

Africa faces interconnected crises of plastic pollution, unsafe housing, and high youth unemployment. In Uganda, hundreds of tonnes of plastic are generated daily, with most ending up in drainage channels or burned, leading to toxic emissions and frequent flooding. Simultaneously, millions of low-income households live in homes vulnerable to extreme weather, while the youngest population in the world struggles to find formal, dignified employment.

Upcycle Africa tackles these challenges through a community-led circular model. We establish collection hubs where youth and women are trained to process waste into raw materials. These materials are then used to manufacture eco-bricks and modular components for durable, flood-resistant, and thermally efficient homes. To date, we have diverted over 3 million plastic bottles from the environment, constructed 300 eco-homes sheltering 1,800 people, and integrated 2,500 waste collectors into safe, green value chains.

About the Role

We are looking for a creative and strategic Social Media & Digital Marketing Manager to help elevate Upcycle Africa’s global presence and strengthen our visibility among investors, partners, and impact communities.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and manage a consistent social media strategy
• Create engaging content (LinkedIn, Instagram, X, etc.)
• Share impact stories, project updates, and milestones
• Support campaign visibility (including Change 100)
• Improve engagement and audience growth

Ideal Background

• Experience managing social media for brands or startups
• Strong storytelling and content creation skills
• Understanding of sustainability or social impact space

Expected Impact

Stronger visibility will help attract investors, corporate partners, skilled volunteers, and global recognition.

• Drafting committee meeting agendas and taking and sharing meeting minutes
• Supporting the efficient running of the branch by ensuring administration processes are carried out effectively
• Supporting the administration and update of the branch annual plan 
• Sign-posting queries from members of the public
• Keeping branch records and information up to date and secure, using Cats Protection systems – training will be provided

Time expectation

Our support volunteers usually spend 2-5 hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

Devon & Cornwall Refugee Support provides a walk-in centre in Plymouth offering needs-led, practical assistance to asylum seekers.

Our vision is to have a fair, humane and safe asylum experience for all. We are seeking a dynamic and committed Chair to lead our Board of Trustees and work in partnership with our Chief Executive to guide Devon and Cornwall Refugee Support through its next phase of development.

What will you be doing?

The Chair will provide inclusive leadership, ensure robust governance, and act as a passionate ambassador for our cause. You will be instrumental in shaping our strategy to meet the growing needs of asylum seekers in a challenging political landscape.

Location: Board meetings are held 8 times per year in Plymouth, with options for remote attendance. Some additional events and meetings may require travel.

Time Commitment: Approximately 3-4 days per month, including board meetings, preparation, and external representation. This is a voluntary, unremunerated role.

• A commitment to the rights, dignity, and welfare of asylum seekers, refugees and migrants in need.
• Significant experience within the charity sector, ideally in both operations and governance.
• An understanding of the duties and responsibilities of a trustee and Chair under UK charity law.
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to chair meetings effectively and foster a collaborative board culture.
• Proven ability to think strategically and contribute to organisational development.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to act as an ambassador for the organisation.
