Manager volunteer roles

SolidariTee is an international charity run and led entirely by volunteers who are students and young people. We're working to make lasting change in the way refugees and other people forced to flee persecution and violence are treated, through a combination of awareness-raising, advocacy, and fundraising to support grassroots NGOs providing vital refugee legal aid and mental health support.

We are currently looking for volunteers to join our Central and Leadership teams!

Positions on our Central Team:

• Publicity Officers (social media team)
• Digital Education Officers (social media team)

Our Central Team includes students and other young people from around the UK and works together to coordinate SolidariTee’s core functions and organise opportunities to bring our volunteers and supporters together. This includes organising our annual conference, creating content for our central Instagram page @teesofsolidarity, and developing partnerships with uni societies, student groups, fashion shows, balls and more!

Our Leadership Team provides overall coordination and oversight to the activities of our Central Team and Regional Teams, and it is a great opportunity to be involved with leading the direction of the SolidariTee movement on a national level.

No one should die because they needed first aid and didn’t get it. St John Ambulance teaches people first aid so they can be the difference between life and death, and you can help us do this.

Our vision is that everyone receives the help they need in a health crisis from those around them. We will achieve that by putting first aid at the heart of every community.​As a Fundraising Lead, you will coordinate the activity of a group of dedicated volunteers to achieve fundraising goals and support the work of St John Ambulance. Other aspects of the role include- coordinating and leading fundraising activity with your team, leading or supporting the recruitment of fundraising volunteers , supporting the promotion of local, regional and national fundraising campaigns and activities and working closely with the Community Fundraising Manager

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to coordinate the unit's fundraising activities, leasing with the Regional Fundraising Coordinator.

The successful candidate will be someone who can work in a team or on their own initiative, is outgoing, determined and energetic and has an enthusiasm for the work of St John Ambulance and it's values. Knowledge of their local community and experience of fundraising or event organisation would be useful but is not essential.

Volunteering Opportunity 

Kitchen Assistant – Day Care Centre 

What You’ll Do

Work alongside the chef to help prepare and serve food for older people attending the centre. You’ll assist with food prep, keeping the kitchen clean, and ensuring mealtimes run smoothly.

You will:

· Prepare ingredients (e.g. peel and chop vegetables)

· Help make tea and coffee trays

· Wash dishes and maintain hygiene standards

· Keep kitchen surfaces and equipment clean

· Organise supplies and groceries

· Interact respectfully with clients when appropriate

Skills You’ll Use or Develop

· Willingness to learn food prep tasks

· Understanding of food hygiene (training provided)

· Organised and detail-oriented

· Good communication and teamwork

· Reliable and committed

· Suitable for those with or without catering experience

Time Commitment

2–4 hours between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm
(Weekdays)

You’ll also have the opportunity to design your own role, whether that involves running fun activities – such as outdoor events, summer camps and mountain adventures – or providing ‘behind-the-scenes’ support.

We’ll offer you the chance to become a fully-fledged Youth Leader, which will mean completing extra courses in First Aid or Adventure to broaden your capacity and experience.

Would you like to volunteer once a week or once a month? That’s entirely up to you. With the constant guidance of a friendly volunteer manager and youth team, you’ll have all the support you need to make bold strides and rediscover your inner ‘big kid’.

This role is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitations Offenders Act and as such as Enhanced DBS check will be obtained.

Day Centre Meet & Greet

What You’ll Do

As a Meet & Greet Volunteer, you’ll be a friendly first point of contact at our day centre, helping to create a safe, welcoming and well-supported environment for people living with dementia, their families, and visitors.

You will:

· Welcome clients, visitors, and family members as they arrive

· Help maintain a safe environment by being present and aware of who is entering and leaving the centre

· Gently support clients to remain within safe areas if needed

· Provide information, leaflets, or signposting to visitors

· Work alongside staff to ensure the day runs smoothly

Skills You’ll Use or Develop

· Friendly and confident communication

· Awareness, observation, and promoting a safe environment

· Patience, empathy, and understanding of dementia

· Teamwork and following guidance from staff

Time Commitment

4 hours between 9:30 am and 4:00 pm

We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic and energetic volunteers to walk our London Bridges Wellness Walk route with our participants to be someone that walkers can chat to if they’ve arrived and walking alone, provide a morale boost and support.

As the UK’s leading diabetes charity, it’s our job to tackle the diabetes crisis. We’re here to prevent type 2 diabetes, campaign for and support everyone affected by diabetes, and fund research that will one day lead us to a cure.

Thousands of people from across the UK will take part in our fun and family-friendly, sponsored Wellness Walks. It’s a chance to get out outside, take a deep breath, seize the day and change the world for everyone affected by diabetes.

Route volunteers guide walkers accurately and keep enthusiasm high. You must be aged 16+ to volunteer for this role (16 - 17 year olds must with be with a parent or guardian aged 18+), Volunteers in these roles will be positioned at key points on the walk route and will:

• Ensure walkers are heading in the right direction
• Motivate and cheer people on as they walk past your position
• Hand out hypo snacks, plasters or report medical incidents
• Monitor and report back to the route manager

Join our amazing volunteer team to make a real difference to people living with sight loss. You’ll be supporting people to come together in a group setting, to benefit from each other’s company, knowledge and encouragement, leading to reduced isolation, stronger networks of support, and new friendships. You can support with either local and regional telephone groups or face-to-face groups.

What you’ll be doing:
• Meeting and greeting group members on arrival or joining virtually.
• Creating a warm and welcoming environment.
• Supporting group conversations.
• Assisting with group activities (if appropriate).

Day Centre Assistant & Companion

What You’ll Do

Support staff and clients at the Mabel Churn Centre to create a warm, welcoming environment for older people living with dementia. You’ll help with social activities and mealtimes to ensure the day runs smoothly.

· Chat and engage with clients to build a friendly atmosphere

· Encourage and support participation in activities (e.g. arts, music)

· Set up tables and help serve meals and drinks

· Clear tables and keep the space clean and tidy

· Communicate with staff about client needs or concerns

· Friendly and compassionate nature

· Comfortable supporting older people, including those with dementia

· Punctual and reliable

· Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team
