Join FARA, a charity with over 30 years of experience and 39 charity shops across London. Our FARA Fulham shop is looking for a creative and enthusiastic Social Media Instagram Volunteer to help us keep our Instagram content fresh, engaging, and up to date.

By volunteering with us, you’ll directly support our mission, help promote reuse through donation and recycling, and contribute to a positive experience for our customers and online community.

The Role:

As a volunteer, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

• Creating Instagram content, including posts and stories
• Capturing photos and videos that highlight our activities, updates, and events
• Showcasing donation appeals in a clear and appealing way
• Helping maintain a consistent and on-brand social media presence
• Monitoring basic engagement (likes, comments, and shares)
• Greeting and assisting customers when required

The Volunteer:

We’re looking for someone who:

• Knowledge of using Instagram and current social media trends
• Is creative, visually focused, and confident taking photos or short videos
• Is friendly, approachable, enthusiastic, and able to communicate our mission online
• Is reliable and able to work as part of a team
• Has experience in social media content creation is a bonus, but not essential

Your Time:

Our shop operates from 10:00 to 18:00, and we’re looking for someone who can volunteer for a minimum of 4 hours either in the morning or afternoon, whenever you are available in arrangement with the shop manager.

Our social media volunteers use their passion and knowledge of social media to promote the activities of local volunteer teams though various channels. They directly help cats by raising awareness of Cats Protection. A higher profile can help us raise the funds we need for our work, ensure people know they can adopt a cat from us, help promote neutering and help as many people as possible learn more about feline welfare.

What we need from you

• Monitoring activity and responding to comments on social media channels

Time expectation

Our social media volunteers can expect to spend between two to five hours per week in this role. This role is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

The role
We are seeking a Treasurer with experience of financial reporting, oversight and governance to join our Board of Trustees. The right candidate will work closely with the current Treasurer who will provide mentoring support until they step down from the Board in September 2026.

Trustees have individual and collective responsibility to ensure the highest standards of Governance for ARC. You will work with the ARC Chair, Board and Strategic Leadership Team to deliver our strategic vision and help ensure the long-term future and success of ARC. The Treasurer is a trustee that offers strategic and financial oversight of the charity.

The ARC Board of Trustees meet four times a year; one in-person and three online, so the role will require a degree of travel and the occasional overnight stay.  Our Board is inclusive of people with additional needs who are experts by experience. 

This is a voluntary position.  Your travel and other out of pocket expenses will be paid.

About you 
You have experience of financial reporting, oversight and governance of a charity. A financial qualification would be helpful.

· You have experience of delivering positive social change, either in your professional or personal life. 

· You are a leader in social care, delivering or improving the support people get. 

· You have experience monitoring the financial matters of a charity.

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press

These committees will meet separately from the main governing body to discuss relevant issues in more detail. Discussion is then fed back at a full governing body meeting.

A school governing body is made up of representatives from the school, the parents, the local authority and the local community.

What are we looking for?

You don’t need any specific skills or experience to be a school governor. You must be over 18, but you don’t need to be a parent or have experience working in education. Often, it’s the outside perspective you can bring that a school needs.

Professional experience in areas such as HR, finance, law, or project management are all useful to a school. But soft skills such as leadership, communication, and problem solving are also great additions.

What difference will you make?

Governors make decisions that affect schools for years to come. Our recent impact survey found that our volunteers bring £9.9 million worth of value to schools each year, and 9/10 volunteers would recommend being a governor to a friend. 

As a governor, you can visit the school to gain an understanding of the culture and ethos and to get the most out of the role. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet children, parents, and teachers, and see the impact of your work first-hand.

Volunteering as a school governor is a challenging but rewarding role. As part of the governing board, you’ll:

• help schools overcome challenges to ensure a bright future for children in your community
• work collaboratively with people from different backgrounds, challenging your own perspective and broadening your network
• gain experience outside of your job description and skills you can bring back to work

You will need to complete an application form and will have an interview with the school. DBS checks will be taken up.
