White Ribbon Alliance UK are seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join as Trustees. In this role, you will be instrumental in governing our charity and ensuring we achieve our mission to promote maternal health and rights. Trustees serve for a term of three years, with the possibility of renewal at the end of the term. We are looking to fill the positions of General Trustees, Board Chair, Treasurer, and Compliance Officer. Your strategic vision, commitment, and ambassadorial efforts will be vital in driving our organisation forward and making a significant impact on the communities we serve. Below is the role description and instructions on how to apply.
Statutory Duties of a Trustee
Trustees share ultimate responsibility for governing the charity and directing how it is managed and run. This includes:

Ensuring that the organisation pursues its stated objects (purposes), as defined in its governing document, by developing and agreeing a long-term strategy.

Ensuring compliance with the governing document (constitution or articles of association), charity law, company law and other relevant legislation or regulations.

Ensuring that the organisation applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its charitable objects, for the benefit of the public.

Ensuring that the organisation defines its goals and evaluates performance against agreed targets.
-
Safeguarding the good name, reputation, and values of the organisation.

Ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the organisation, including appropriate policies and procedures.

Ensuring the financial stability of the organisation.

Protecting and managing the property of the charity and ensuring the proper investment of its funds.

Following proper arrangements for the appointment, supervision, support, appraisal and remuneration of senior staff.

Scrutinising board papers, leading discussions, and providing independent, creative judgement on key issues.

Offering advice and guidance on new initiatives, risks, or opportunities.
Ambassadorial Contributions
In addition to their statutory duties, Trustees are requested to use their specific skills, knowledge, networks, or experience to strengthen the board’s work according to their skills, capabilities, interests and available time. This includes:

Promoting the charity's mission and values: Trustees should consistently advocate for the charity's goals and principles in various settings, ensuring that the organisation's message is clearly communicated.

Representing the charity at external events: Trustees should attend and participate in meetings, conferences, and other events on behalf of the charity, acting as its official representatives.

Engaging with media: Trustees should be prepared to speak to the media about the charity's work, providing insights and information that highlight the organisation's impact and importance.

Leveraging personal and professional networks: Trustees should use their connections to support the charity's objectives, whether by opening doors to potential supporters, funders, collaborators, or influencers.

Time Commitment

Statutory duties for general trustees: 6-8 days per year.

Statutory duties for Chair, Treasurer, and Compliance Officer: 10-12 days per year (inclusive of general trustee duties).

to join us as a trustee in June and then to take on the position of Chair in November. In
close co-operation with our dedicated team of trustees and inspirational director, you will

next 5 years and to oversee the deepening of our charity’s impact on our community,

About Aid Box Community
We are a charity based in Bristol and for nearly nine years have been providing vital support, supplies and sanctuary to men women and children seeking asylum in this city. You are welcome to come and have a look at the work we do by visiting, by prior arrangement, our Welcome Hub and Free Shop.
What are our trustees responsible for?
We are all jointly responsible for:
- The overall management of our charity.
- Setting and monitoring Aid Box’s strategic direction and ensuring it is financially sound.
- Ensuring the charity carries out the purposes set out in our constitution for the benefit of our community and in line with the Charity Commission’s guidance.
Main duties and responsibilities as a Chair:
- leading our charity’s strategic direction in close collaboration with the board and our director.
- Chairing quarterly trustee meetings as well as our HR sub committee meetings.
- Representing trustees in contacts with other charities and organisations.
This role is for you if:
- You have leadership experience (formal or informal), either within or outside the charity sector.
- You have specialist skills that may benefit Aid Box Community. Motivated by ABC’s vision, mission and values, in particular upholding the basic human rights of refugees and asylum seekers.

As a Volunteer Fundraiser for unpaid carers, you will play a key part in helping Carers Trust Hillingdon & Ealing secure funding that enables us to continue and expand our vital services for unpaid carers across the borough.

Citizens Advice Winchester District is a dynamic, values-led, and award-winning local charity which is passionate about creating a fairer society for all.
We do this by helping people to resolve a wide range of problems they’re facing, so that everyone can achieve a good quality of life.Every year, we provide free, confidential and impartial advice on issues such as debt, housing, benefits and employment advice to people across the Winchester district, many of whom are in desperate or challenging situations and have nowhere else to turn. Our greatest asset is our dedicated team of staff, volunteers and trustees, who also advocate for lasting policy change both locally and nationally. To help us in our work, we are seeking an additional 3-4 trustees to complete our board and help us lead the charity over our next phase of strategic development.
The role
We want our board to have a diverse range of experiences and backgrounds and are looking for strategic thinkers with a commitment to good governance and a willingness to work collaboratively and challenge constructively. Previous experience of Citizens Advice, or of being a Trustee (or equivalent), would be advantageous, but the commitment and enthusiasm to help us shape the work and strategic direction of our forward-thinking charity is essential.
We would be particularly interested to hear from people with experience in HR (especially those with current CIPD membership), Charitable Trust and Foundation fundraising, and change management.

Volunteer-led East London Waterworks Park won a 2024 NLA award and raised £2m towards buying the 14-acre Thames Water Depot (Lea Bridge Road) to turn into a new biodiverse park with natural swimming, forest schools, and community spaces.
We are looking for user experience researchers to participate in our community-led working group who are growing support of the project. There is opportunity to lead on projects exploring how architects, ecologists, community researchers, political campaigners, fundraisers and communications professions come together to create community infrastructure. Online meetings are every 4 weeks on a Tuesday evening on Google Meet with remote tasks.
What are we looking for?
Strong experience in qualitative/quantitative user research, research plan design/execution, data analysis, and synthesizing actionable insights.
Proven ability to build rapport and engage diverse communities. Excellent collaborative spirit for multidisciplinary teamwork.
Genuine passion for community-led projects, environmental sustainability, and inclusive urban development.
By leading research projects that explore how diverse professionals collaborate to shape community infrastructure, volunteers will directly contribute to the development of a park that reflects the needs and desires of the local community. Support Dudley residents with long-term health conditions or disabilities by providing information regarding welfare benefit applications and delivering structured self-management group programmes.
Role Responsibilities:
• Facilitate small group Welfare Benefit Guider sessions (up to 6 residents) to those who need assistance to complete their own welfare benefits application forms (e.g. Personal Independence Payments (PIP) application forms).
• Deliver 6-week Long Term Health & Wellbeing Programmes (2.5 hours per week) to groups of up to 12 residents per group with long term health conditions or disabilities to help improve their quality of life.
• Create supportive, inclusive group environments and record participant information accurately.
About You:
• Lived or caring experience of long-term physical or mental health conditions is preferred but not essential
• Ability to empathise with clients is essential.
• Confident speaking in group settings (in person and online) with good communication and basic IT skills.
• Able to handle sensitive information with tact.
Commitment:
• Deliver sessions at community venues across Dudley (and potentially Wolverhampton), including some evenings/weekends.
• Deliver 3 x 6 weeks Long-term Health & Wellbeing Programmes per year
• Deliver 2 x 3-hour Welfare Benefits Guider Sessions per month
• An enhanced DBS check is required (arranged and paid for by the organisation).
