CHASE Africa is a UK-based international NGO that supports local partners in East Africa to improve health and wellbeing in marginalised rural communities. We are looking for a Trustee with finance skills, to replace our current Treasurer. You will provide scrutiny and oversight of the work of CHASE Africa, with a particular focus on financial issues. You will use your financial knowledge and experience to monitor the financial administration of the charity and report to the Board of Trustees on its state of financial health and provide the board with the confidence and knowledge to make good strategic decisions.

Since its inception 12 years ago, CHASE Africa has grown from scratch to an income in 2025 of over £830,000 – delivering over 1.5 million healthcare and family planning services to often isolated rural communities. We have a strong and highly motivated staff team and a thriving network of local partners that has expanded from Kenya into Uganda and, later this year, Tanzania.
CHASE Africa’s projects have already brought healthcare and empowerment to tens of thousands of lives, particularly for women and girls, mitigating poverty and helping protect local environments.It has the capacity and opportunity to greatly extend its impact – both geographically and in terms of numbers reached.
We are a small but dedicated team based in Somerset, committed to a collaborative approach to partnership. We're currently going through an exciting period of transition and growth, with a new CEO in 2022, a new charitable structure in 2023, and a new Finance Manager at the start of 2026. Your role will be vital in helping us achieve our future goals.
The Role
- Liaise with CEO and Trustees to ensure the financial viability of the organisation’s strategy
- Advise on the financial implications of CA’s strategic plan (3 year)
- Present CA’s financial position and broader context at Trustees Board meetings
- Support the finance manager with the production of an annual budget
- Ensure that the Board is aware of its financial duties and responsibilities and the need to comply with all legislation
- Take a lead in interpreting financial data for fellow Board members
- Ensure that all financial policies, procedures and the appointment of external financial advisors are reviewed on a regular basis
- Ensure relevant financial policies are in place as required by the charity commission
- Be willing to be available to support the charity’s CEO and Senior Finance Manager as needed
- Review the monthly management accounts report and cashflow with the CEO and finance manager
- Liaise with senior staff to ensure financial reports are user friendly for non-finance trustees

- Good background in financial management and analysis

Time Commitment
The Board of Trustees meets four times a year. 3 of the meetings are for half a day every quarter and are held on line. The 4th meeting is usually a 2 day face to face meeting which takes place in a country where there are partner organisations or network members. Trustees may have to factor in significant travel time, dependent on the location.
Trustees typically devote more time than just the Board meetings; staying connected to the cause of HelpAge International, learning about it and advocating for older persons. Board Trustees are encouraged to be members of at least one Board sub-Committee. Trustees whose current careers are not already steeped in ageing issues often find it is useful to spend time outside of the Board and Board Committee meetings, familiarising themselves with and staying abreast of current population ageing issues.
Board Members are also ‘ambassadors’ of HelpAge International. As such, from time to time they may be called upon to represent the organisation in forums taking place in their region.

The Women & Families Resource Centre (WFRC) is a registered charity based in
Wolverhampton which supports, empowers and advocates for women and children.
We aim to actively encourage women to be self-reliant, through empowering them to

women facing crises or challenging situations.
Wolverhampton Baby Bank is a flagship project run by The Women & Families
Resource Centre, a registered charity supporting families with children aged 0-3.
Through donated essentials and community engagement, we provide much-needed

- Essential supplies for babies and toddlers, including nappies, wipes, clothing, toys,

Scope and Span
The Baby Bank Manager leads the operational delivery and structured rebuild of WFRC’s flagship Baby Bank service. This role is critical as WFRC stabilises and restructures following recent operational disruptions. The postholder will oversee volunteer coordination, stock and inventory systems, client service delivery, corporate volunteer engagement, and compliance reporting.
This position requires a strong balance of operational leadership, administrative oversight, and compassionate service delivery, ensuring that the Baby Bank operates efficiently, sustainably, and in alignment with funding and safeguarding requirements.
WFRC operates as a not-for-profit organisation but must function with business-level accountability and sustainability. The Baby Bank Manager plays a key role in embedding structured systems that ensure continuity beyond individuals.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Oversee daily Baby Bank operations, manage referrals and appointments, ensure safe and dignified support for families, and gradually scale services in line with capacity.

With a proud history of more than a century, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society is now transforming itself into the Royal College of Pharmacy, a registered charity providing public benefit, to sit alongside the other medical royal colleges. This change is due in Spring 2026.
As we already have expertise in pharmacy, this is not a requirement however one of the new trustees must have specialist expertise in charity finance. This is a voluntary role, and you would be expected to attend formal board meetings (in person and online) four times a year – and annually for a full-day strategic review and planning session. New World Book Day Trustees
WBD is governed by its board of trustees, 3 of which are appointed by the Publishers' Association and 3 by the Booksellers' Association, each in their capacity as a founding member. The remaining trustees are appointed by the board. New trustees are recruited to infill the gaps identified from regular skills audits. We are now seeking three new trustees, one of whom will be the new Chair of the trustee board, to fill an existing and two upcoming vacancies.

· Publishers' Association Appointed Trustee: This trustee will be an individual from within the publishing industry. This position is a Trustee role, sitting on and managing Hidayah's Board of Trustees. The Chair of Hidayah provides strategic leadership to Hidayah, ensuring the organization remains aligned with its mission to support and advocate for LGBTQ+ Muslims. The Chair will guide the Board of Trustees in effective governance and act as an ambassador for the charity within both the Muslim and LGBTQ+ communities.
What are the key responsibilities of this role?
This role will have the following duties, but are not limited to:
Leadership and Governance:
· Provide leadership to the Board, ensuring that Trustees fulfil their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity.
· Oversee the Board of Trustees’ operation, ensuring its members work collaboratively and effectively.
· Ensure the charity complies with its constitution, governing documents, charity law, and other relevant legislation/regulations.
Strategy and Planning:

Risk Management:
· Ensure appropriate risk management policies and procedures are in place and adhered to.
· Regularly review and address potential risks to the charity’s operations and reputation.
Board of Trustees Management:
· Chair monthly Board meetings effectively, ensuring decisions are taken in a timely manner and that actions are followed up.

Advocacy and Representation:

How much commitment is required?
The hours are flexible around your schedule. All Trustees volunteers are expected to:

Our chefs design menus on-the-day, every day, made from food that's far too good to be wasted. Fresh ideas for ingredients at their best. Magic Hat also operates a volunteer programme, a PAYF shop, an events programme and a hireable meeting space/kitchen. Magic Hat's profits go to supporting Bind's other projects in food waste prevention. After 5 years of trading in Newcastle City Centre, our lease was terminated for the building to get redeveloped. We are currently seeking out a new premises for Magic Hat and designing for how we can continue to challenge in its next iteration.
Eat Smart is a successful primary school educational programme born in the NE of England designed to inspire children and schools to reduce food waste and build sustainable food systems. We deliver engaging resources and learning experiences that empower schools and pupils to have more ownership of their kitchens/dinner halls, improve student wellbeing, and have increased environmental awareness.
Since 2018 Eat Smart has enabled 70 schools in North East England to rescue their food waste by over 25%, equivalent to saving 6,000 meals worth £13,000 per school, per year, and our expansion to other areas of the UK has already begun. With an ever-growing data set and credibility for school food waste prevention, we have increasing potential to affect school food policy and deliver food waste prevention interventions on a national level.
Bind is expanding its work to ensure food waste prevention, not just redistribution, is at the heart of our mission. Bind works in partnership with businesses, local authorities and community groups to help them reduce their food waste, and reduce their food bills by using surplus food in their kitchens. We are well recognised in the North East and lead various partnerships of public, private and voluntary sector organisations, tasked with reducing food waste at a strategic level.
About the Trustee Role
As a Bind Trustee, you’ll be at the heart of our strategic vision. You’ll make key decisions and help guide our Board and CEOs to maximise Bind’s impact. In this important role, you will be responsible for assessing the eligibility of applicants for our grants and services, in adherence with Variety’s structured grant management approach (guided interviews, weighted scoring and panel review) to maximise impact for disabled and disadvantaged children and young people.

Key Responsibilities
• Review applications and supporting evidence prepared by the case management team.
