What You’ll Do

As IT & Digital Lead, you will:

• Set up and configure Office 365, including emails, SharePoint and user accounts.

• Implement and maintain our cloud-based CRM and Caseload Management Systems.

• Configure laptops, tablets and phones for SUNSHINE Charity use only.

• Ensure all devices and data are secure, protected and compliant.

• Create simple digital processes that make volunteering easier.

• Provide IT/Digital support to volunteers when needed.

• Lead or support induction sessions to help volunteers understand:

  • How our digital systems work

  • How to use them confidently

  • Why they matter for safety, connection and good practice

• Work closely with the Safeguarding & Compliance Lead to ensure digital safety and GDPR alignment

 Role summary

To assist with the picking, packing and despatching of New Goods orders to all St Helena shops, via the Donation Centre delivery operation. 

 Main duties of the role 

  • Assist with the picking and packing of New Goods stock, preparing it for pick-up via the Donation Centre delivery drivers

• Assist with the unpacking of goods from outside suppliers

• Assist with stock takes and spot checks

• Use a computerised stock management system to maintain accurate weekly and monthly stock reports

• Assist with keeping the stock room tidy and clean

• Managing and reporting damaged stock according to company procedures

• Ad hoc printing, laminating etc when required

• Work as part of a small but busy team. 

We are seeking a Finance Trustee to join our Board of Trustees*.  You will have:

• Strong senior-level knowledge of investment management (equities and fixed income)
• Experience setting investment strategy and overseeing financial risk
• An analytical and questioning mindset, with confidence to provide constructive challenge
• Experience supporting long-term financial sustainability and governance.

About Us

The Thalidomide Trust is a unique organisation supporting beneficiaries, now all in their 60s, born with disabilities as a result of their mother taking the drug, thalidomide, during pregnancy. 

They are a remarkable group of people, who have achieved a great deal despite often living with extreme levels of disability, including limb damage, hearing and visual impairment, brain and sensory impairment and damage to internal organs.

Our beneficiaries have very complex and varied needs which are increasing as they age. We have gained an in-depth understanding of their evolving needs through our high level of contact with beneficiaries and our structured programme of three-yearly Holistic Needs Assessments (HNAs).

Commitment

• This is a voluntary role, but reasonable expenses incurred will be reimbursed.
• London / St Neots / Hybrid
• You should be willing and able to devote approximately 15 – 20 days (plus travel time) per annum to the Trust. Specifically, be available to attend three full day board meetings and one morning virtual meeting as well as Finance Committee meetings. There may be various projects, webinars and/or events throughout the year, and availability to remotely authorise transactions and documents on an ad hoc basis (with reasonable notice) is required.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement:

• Develop and implement a dynamic fundraising plan that includes a variety of strategies tailored to Roots Academy’s target audiences, including university MSAs, mosques, and Islamic organisations.

• Identify and build partnerships with key community organisations, MSAs, and Islamic centres to create collaborative fundraising opportunities.

• Stay adaptable to emerging opportunities for funding, leveraging both traditional and innovative approaches to engage and attract potential donors.

Relationship Building:

• Actively engage with MSAs, Islamic centres, and community organisations to establish Roots Academy as a cause worth supporting and to cultivate long-term donor relationships.

• Collaborate with MSAs and community partners to organise local fundraising events, campaigns, and other initiatives that resonate with the community.

• Serve as a liaison between Roots Academy and these partner organisations to foster a spirit of collaboration and mutual support.

• Work closely with MSAs and community organisations to retain donors by creating meaningful engagement opportunities and maintaining a sense of involvement with Roots Academy’s mission.

Campaign Management:

• Lead and coordinate diverse fundraising campaigns, including online initiatives, MSA-driven campaigns, and in-person events like benefit dinners and community gatherings.

• Work with Roots Academy’s marketing team to create campaign materials and digital content, ensuring that each initiative is tailored to engage and inspire potential donors.

• Coordinate and oversee logistics for events, ensuring a smooth and impactful experience for all participants and maximising fundraising outcomes.

Tracking and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of fundraising activities, donor interactions, and campaign outcomes to ensure transparency and accountability.

• Provide regular reports to the leadership team on fundraising efforts, adapting strategies as needed based on campaign performance and community feedback.

• Use data to evaluate the effectiveness of different fundraising approaches, enabling continuous improvement in future efforts.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Fundraising Experience: Proven experience in developing and executing successful fundraising strategies, particularly for nonprofit organisations, educational initiatives, or Islamic institutions.

• Community-Oriented: A deep understanding of the Muslim community in Canada, especially in relation to university students and local mosques.

• Relationship Building: Proven experience in building and maintaining meaningful relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.

• Project Management: Strong organisational skills with the ability to support program delivery efficiently.

• Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences, from students to community leaders.

• Commitment to Ihsaan: This role requires someone who strives to deliver their responsibilities with ihsaan.

1. Assistant facilitation at Young Garrick Youth Theatre sessions in Lichfield OR Burntwood, including helping to set up and clear away spaces, following risk assessments to ensure a safe and welcoming environment

2. Assist with as ‘meet and greet’ for participants, parents/carers, and visitors

3. Support the Youth Theatre Leaders and team with the delivery, administration, communication and positive culture of sessions

4. Assist with gathering and setting out of materials/resources (costumes, props, workshop materials)

5. Providing up to date knowledge of the community programme and acting as a point of call for questions during sessions

6. Support facilitators in providing a safe and welcoming environment and responding to safeguarding concerns in sessions

7. Provide additional help for participants who require extra support.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Attending volunteer training sessions as required

2. Adhering to all Lichfield Garrick Theatre policies & procedures.

3. Contributing to effective Health & Safety management across the organisation.

You will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check for this role.

LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

The successful candidate must be 18+. 

Young Garrick Lichfield sessions run every Sunday in term time from 10am-5.30pm. Young Garrick Burntwood runs every Tuesday in term time from 6.30pm-9pm.

The placement length is flexible, for a minimum of one term and maximum of one academic year (ending July 2027).

The role is ideal for a person looking to gain experience and starting a career in the arts specifically with young people and communities. This could be as a facilitator, practitioner, or administrator/project leader.

The Afghanistan and Central Asian Association (ACAA) is an award-winning British charity. ACAA provides advice, support, education, training, volunteering opportunities and social and cultural activities, with a strong focus on integration and community support. Its services include English language classes, employment support, women’s support, youth and family services, advice and cultural and social activities.

What you’ll do

Call or message learners who have missed sessions, in English and Ukrainian

Find out why learners have missed classes and encourage them to return

Help understand why learners may stop attending or leave classes

Support learners who have difficulties with their current timetable, class, level or location

Help learners identify other suitable classes within the project when appropriate

Answer straightforward questions about classes and pass more complex queries to the project team

Sometimes attend classes and provide practical support to learners

Help learners complete and sign required documents, including Photo Consent Forms and Class Rules forms

Keep accurate records of learner contact and attendance-related information

Share recurring attendance or engagement issues with the project team

Who this role is good for

Fluency in both English and Ukrainian is required. This role is ideal for someone confident on the phone, friendly and patient, well organised and comfortable keeping accurate records. Experience or an interest in community support, administration or project work is useful.

Time commitment and flexibility

We understand that volunteers have their own work, study, family and other commitments. We aim to keep these roles flexible. We are ideally looking for around 4–8 hours of volunteering per week, depending on the role and your availability. However, we genuinely value any contribution: even a few hours a week can make a meaningful difference to our project and our learners.

We’re REMIX — a brand new start-up Shoreditch‑based social mobility charity that will be empowering young people to remix their lives with confidence, creativity and real opportunities. We launch this September, and we’re building a Founding Board of Trustees who match our energy, ambition and love for youth culture.

This is not a traditional trustee role. This is fast‑paced, creative, hands‑on leadership. This is about helping us build momentum, shape our identity and get REMIX ready for launch.

What This Trustee Role Is All About

As a Founding Trustee, you’ll help us:

• Build the foundations of a brand‑new youth charity

You’ll meet weekly at first as we get set up, build our early systems, and push hard towards launch.

VOLUNTEER: Safeguarding & Compliance Lead

SUNSHINE Charity is a vibrant, 100% volunteer‑powered start-up movement dedicated to bringing SUNSHINE into people’s lives. We help smash loneliness and social isolation by creating welcoming opportunities to connect, participate, learn, volunteer, make friends and feel like you belong.

SUNSHINE is expanding into its next chapter, launching programmes, recruiting volunteers and building community spaces across London. To do this safely and responsibly, we need someone who can help us:

You’ll be the steady, reassuring presence who helps SUNSHINE stay safe, structured and aligned with UK good practice.

What You’ll Do

As Safeguarding & Compliance Lead, you will:

• Oversee safeguarding good practice across SUNSHINE.

• Support compliance with UK GDPR and data protection.

• Promote safe health & safety practice.

• Help embed Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) principles.

• Maintain and update policies and procedures.

• Provide guidance to volunteers and team leads.

• Respond to occasional urgent queries or concerns.

• Help ensure SUNSHINE operates ethically, safely and responsibly.

You’ll be joining a charity where kindness is a superpower, community is everything, and every volunteer helps bring SUNSHINE into people’s lives.

• Confident with safeguarding, compliance or governance.

Experience in safeguarding, compliance, governance or risk is helpful — but heart, integrity and clarity matter most.

Time Commitment & Availability

This is a flexible operational volunteer role, not a trustee position.

• Around 4 hours per month

• Additional hours only for urgent enquiries or concerns

We’ll work around your life and schedule — we simply need someone reliable who can help keep SUNSHINE safe and compliant.

Crisis of Faith: 1 in 4 young Muslims are leaving the religion due to various factors, primarily the pervasive anti-religious content and temptations they encounter online and offline. 

Roots Academy exists to bridge this gap by providing a structured and transformative Islamic education that speaks directly to the needs and challenges of young Muslims today, delivered in an engaging and accessible form that removes barriers to access and provokes thought and action.

Role Summary.

As a Graphic Designer, you will be instrumental in shaping the visual identity of Roots Academy UK. From designing educational resources and social media assets to crafting digital campaigns and event materials, your work will ensure our content reflects excellence, clarity, and spiritual depth. You will help bring Islamic learning to life through purposeful, polished, and impactful design.

Key tasks

• Design Development: Create visually compelling graphics for use across social media, email, web, presentations, and print.

• Brand Consistency: Ensure all visual materials align with Roots Academy’s brand guidelines and Islamic values.

• Content Support: Collaborate with the social media and education teams to translate ideas and scripts into polished, engaging visuals.

• Template Creation: Build easy-to-edit templates for internal teams to use (e.g., Canva or Google Slides).

• Trend Awareness: Stay up to date on design and content trends, especially within the faith-based and youth development space.

• Project Management: Maintain organised design files and deliver work in a timely manner.

What we’re looking for

• Strong design portfolio demonstrating creativity, clarity, and alignment with brand guidelines.

• Experience using tools like Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or Figma.

• Attention to detail and a strong sense of layout, typography, and visual hierarchy.

• Ability to take direction while contributing creative input.

• A deep understanding of Islamic values and visual modesty in design.

• Experience designing for social media platforms (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok).

• Excellent communication and time-management skills.
