Job description

Purpose of the Role:

To support the delivery of engaging and inclusive English conversation sessions at the Baytree Centre, helping adult participants practise speaking English in a relaxed group setting. By offering encouragement, guidance, and a welcoming environment, the role empowers participants to improve their language skills, build confidence, and make meaningful social connections.

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

- Facilitate group discussions, encouraging participation and peer interaction.

- Provide one-to-one support to participants, helping with pronunciation, vocabulary, and conversational skills.

- Create a supportive and inclusive environment where participants feel comfortable practicing English and asking questions.

- Encourage connections and engagement between participants.

- Collect feedback to help improve future sessions.

- Adhere to Baytree Centre policies and safeguarding procedures.

 

 

Skills and Qualities Required:

 

- Fluency in English with the ability to model correct pronunciation and usage.

- Patience, empathy, and cultural sensitivity.

- Strong interpersonal skills to create a positive and inclusive atmosphere.

- Effective communication skills to give clear instructions and constructive feedback.

- Interest in language learning, community support, or adult education.

 

 

Commitment:

 

- Assist in weekly English conversation sessions, (day and time subject to the timetable).

- Minimum commitment of 2 terms for continuity and effectiveness.
