Do you want to invest your time supporting women who are marginalised in Tower Hamlets? Do you feel called to social justice and want to do something about it? For over 20 years we have been supporting women involved in selling sex. Many of the women credit our Door of Hope project with being key to their sense of wellbeing whilst on the streets and for some, their exit from selling sex.

We are recruiting new volunteers to continue delivering consistent outreach, early Thursday morning, and late Friday evening.

We need volunteers to work with the women we support. We are looking for women with:

• A vision for reaching out to women involved in/affected by selling sex/sexual exploitation.
• Empathy, compassion and a non-judgmental approach.
• An ability to build trusting relationships whilst maintaining personal boundaries.

• An openness to learning and working together.
• Availability to attend team training’s 4-5 events a year (usually on a Monday evening)

At The Advocacy Academy, we envision a world where young people with lived experience of injustice (LEofI) harness their collective power to shape a more fair, just, and equal society. Our mission is to organise and support these young people to drive systemic change on the most pressing issues of our time. 

We do this by offering deep coaching, delivering transformative leadership programmes, and creating clear pathways for sustained action. Through shared learning and community-building, we help young leaders build the knowledge, skills, and confidence to launch and lead proactive campaigns. We also recognise that real change starts from within - so we’re committed to a governance structure that is values-driven, participatory, and beyond reproach, ensuring TAA is as accountable to young people as it is to the communities we serve and its wider responsibilities.

We’re now looking to recruit two new Trustees to join our Board and help steer this work. We're especially keen to hear from people with leadership experience in one or more of the following areas: Finance, Treasurer, Community Organising and Campaigns.

Trustees of The Advocacy Academy play a unique role in delivery of our mission. They are collectively responsible for the governance of the organisation, represent it to the community, and accept ultimate compliance authority for the charity and its activities. As a Trustee with experience in the UK’s youth sector, you will support the Board and the Executives in ensuring that TAA continues to deliver an exceptional quality of youth work, and the role that safeguarding plays in achieving this. As a trustee:

• Work with the Chair, Trustees and Senior Leadership team (SLT) to ensure there is a clear, long-term and strategic vision The Advocacy Academy.
• Work with the Board to ensure we function within the financial requirements of a UK registered charity and company, our constitution and that we strive for best practice
• Take responsibility with the other trustees so that the charity has effective practice to safeguard the people it works with
• Act as an ambassador, spokesperson and champion our work supporting our income activities, and fostering networks that can help generate income.

About Our Board of Trustees

• Our Board currently consists of six members, recruited, selected, and approved by the Board of Trustees.
• Each trustee serves a three-year term, and we are made up of individuals from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities.
• The Board meets quarterly (four times per year) to provide strategic oversight and governance. Operations/day to day are managed by the Executives.
• Given the size of the board, we expect all trustees to join at least one subcommittee meeting per year, unless there are extenuating circumstances. The subcommittee meets are typically held prior to full Board meetings.
• Board meetings are held at our Liberation Centre in Brixton and subcommittee meets are held virtually
• The role of trustee is voluntary, though reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
• Trustees are expected to prepare in advance by reading reports and meeting papers, and are also warmly invited to attend our events throughout the year.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

1. The Campaigning/Mobilisation Trustee - will provide mobilisation and campaigns governance oversight of The Advocacy Academy, including but not limited to: Working closely with our Director of Organising and Campaigns and fellow trustees, they will:

• Provide strategic oversight of The Advocacy Academy’s organising and campaigning activities and priorities.
• Ensure campaigns are ethical, legally compliant, and aligned with the organisation’s values.
• Support the development of effective, youth-led organising and campaigning strategies.
• Offer insight into advocacy trends, movement-building, and political landscapes.
• Serve as a sounding board for the team, offering critical friend feedback without operational interference.
• Help the board assess risks and opportunities related to public positioning, reputation, and partnerships.
• Good governance, diversity and teamwork are at the core of the Board’s values. We want to ensure trustees represent the young people we work with and we are particularly interested in applications from people with lived experience.

2. The Treasurer - will provide charity financial governance oversight of The Advocacy Academy, including but not limited to: Working closely with our Finance Director and the Finance & Risk Committee and fellow Trustees, they will:

• Provide support on financial oversight and ensure compliance with relevant charity and regulatory requirements.
• Review and co-present financial reports and key insights to the Board of Trustees.
• Actively participate in the Finance and Risk Committee, ensuring effective financial scrutiny.
• Strategic contribution to long-term financial and fundraising planning and support the organisation’s risk management framework.
• Attend Finance and Risk subcommittee meetings quarterly

PERSON SPECIFICATION  

1. The Campaigning/Mobilisation Trustee -

• Understanding of power-building, community organising, or movement strategy (essential).
• Experience in grassroots organising and campaigns, advocacy, or social justice movements.
• Familiarity with political or social justice contexts in the UK.
• Willingness to support youth leadership and work in solidarity with young campaigners.
• Previous board or governance experience is helpful but not essential.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.

2. The Treasurer -

• Proven expertise in charity fundraising and financial management.
• Experience of charity finance and fundraising is essential.
• Experience of supporting organisational growth
• Previous board or trustee experience.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.

EXPECTATIONS & ENTITLEMENT  

• Attend at least one training programme that we run, so that you understand the work we deliver
• Attend trustee meetings, which are held four times a year in London or virtually, and last between 3-4 hours - trustees are expected to attend at least three each year.
• Participate in one of our sub-committees as may be required by the trustee role.
• Demonstrate commitment to The Advocacy Academy by supporting fundraising efforts.
• Serve for a term of three years and be able to stand for re-election for a further term and
• possibly two.
• Work with the Chair to review your performance
• Claim reasonable travel and accommodation expenses to attend meetings

Popham Kidney Support is seeking accredited counsellors to help expand access to emotional support for children and young people affected by kidney disease across Wales. This role could be individual or as a part of a group of counsellors depending on availabilities.

Currently, counselling provision available are extremely limited, meaning some children and young people may face delays in accessing the support they need. By providing counselling through the charity, we aim to complement existing services and help ensure that more children and families can access timely emotional and psychological support.

This role will involve offering one-to-one counselling to children and young people who may be experiencing challenges related to living with kidney disease, treatment, hospitalisation, trauma, anxiety, low mood, or the wider impact of a long-term health condition. Counsellors will play an important role in helping children and young people build resilience, develop coping strategies, and improve their emotional wellbeing.

Sessions may be delivered online or in person, depending on the counsellor's preference, location, and availability. The role is highly flexible, enabling counsellors to offer support around their existing commitments while making a meaningful difference to the lives of children and families affected by kidney disease. All counsellors will receive an induction to Popham Kidney Support and the impact of kidney disease, with opportunities for further learning and development where appropriate.

Expectations

• Provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental environment for children and young people to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
• Deliver counselling sessions in accordance with professional and ethical standards, maintaining appropriate professional registration and insurance.
• Adhere to all safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection requirements, escalating concerns where appropriate.
• Work collaboratively with Popham Kidney Support staff and, where relevant and appropriate, healthcare professionals supporting the child or young person.
•  Maintain clear and accurate records in line with organisational and professional requirements.
•  Attend an induction covering Popham Kidney Support's services, policies, safeguarding procedures, and the impact of kidney disease on children and families.
• Communicate availability and session capacity to the charity to support referrals and service planning.
• Treat all children, young people, and families with dignity, respect, and cultural sensitivity.

Time Commitment

• No expectation, as much time as you are able to give.

Skills and Qualifications

• Qualified counsellor with appropriate professional registration/accreditation.
• Experience working with children and young people.

ABOUT US 

Central and North West London (CNWL) Trust has almost 7,000 staff providing integrated healthcare to a third of London's population, Milton Keynes and areas beyond. 

Arts in Health (AiH) is a step-down service from the Community Mental Health Hubs (CMHH), offering a programme of regular creative activities to support adults with lived experiences of mental health difficulties.

Our programme consists of weekly sessions on a Thursday – taking place at an art studio in W9 and cultural visits to museums and galleries across Central London. 

Participants can attend Arts in Health for roughly 8 months. Therefore, we request that volunteers commit to 8 months (1 term) or the whole year (2 terms) if possible. 

Term 1 runs from Sept 2026 – March 2027 and Term 2 runs from April 2027 – Dec 2027.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

We are looking for a local volunteer ‘travel buddy’ to accompany and support a participant from home to the Arts in Health session locations, every Thursday. This would best suit someone living close to Westminster or Kensington & Chelsea due to travel time, but we are open to further afield. 

Participants may need support because they feel anxious travelling alone, going to a new place, taking public transport, have fluctuations in their mental health, or need the accountability of having a travel buddy.

You won’t be attending the 2 hour sessions (2-4pm) of the project, but you will be free to spend those two hours looking at shops, museums, reading, or going to a cafe.

COMMITMENT AND LOCATION 

You will need to be available on Thursday afternoons, from late September, to provide weekly support - arriving with your participant at the selected venue by 1.45pm and picking up just after 4pm. This means you'll approximately be needed from late morning until early evening, depending on travel times. 

Travel buddies will have an online induction with the Arts in Health team before the project starts to share more about the project, learn about safeguarding within the team and to answer any questions. 

Programme dates and locations for 2026-27 confirmed once in post.

1. Cultural visit to a museum / gallery* - various locations across central London

*There may be slight changes to time on occasion according to the venue 

KEY TASKS 

• Travel to the participant’s home or a mutually agreed location nearby; meet them outside 

• Supporting a participant to travel to and from the venue, from their home, using public transport, to ensure they get to the session with time to settle before it starts

• Plan the journey from where you greet participant, to the session location in advance 

• Wait patiently for two hours without attending the session, and then travel back to their home location at the designated time

• Encourage the regular attendance of participants 

• Report any issues or concerns to the AiH team 

• Read and follow our policies & procedures - designed to keep you safe, including guidance around confidentiality

About The Pinnacle Centre

The Pinnacle Centre is a third space in Birmingham helping young adults grow holistically. We work across three domains: personal development, sports and wellbeing, and community and belonging.

Vision 2030 is where that work is heading. We're building a multi-purpose centre in Birmingham — sports facilities, co-working space, an auditorium and a café — designed as a home for young adults to train, work, learn and gather.

Role Summary

You own what Pinnacle actually delivers to young adults — the design, quality and outcomes of our programmes across all three domains, and the week-to-week running of them. Events run the moments; you run the journeys people go on in between.

Key tasks

1.  Programme design

○ Design a coherent portfolio across personal development, sports and wellbeing, and community and belonging.

○ Define the intended outcome of every programme before it is built.

○ Retire programmes that no longer earn their place in the calendar.

2.  Delivery & coordination

○ Schedule sessions, facilitators and spaces across the programme calendar.

○ Prepare materials and resources, and host or support delivery.

○ Adapt on the day when numbers, rooms or facilitators change.

3.  Quality & facilitation

○ Set the standard for facilitation, content and participant experience.

○ Recruit, brief and develop facilitators, coaches and speakers.

○ Observe delivery regularly and give feedback that improves it.

○ Welcome newcomers and make sure nobody is left standing on their own.

○ Design pathways so a first-time attendee has an obvious next step.

○ Follow up with people who have dropped off, and own retention.

We empower people by providing compassionate guidance and practical assistance as they navigate the often-complex process of applying for disability benefits.

We are looking for a thoughtful, motivated and committed volunteer with good listening and communication skills to join our Benefits Support Service. You will have experience of working with people with mental health issues, either through work, volunteering or lived experience, and some knowledge of welfare benefits gained through work, volunteering or personal experience. Comprehensive training will also be provided.

The role will involve:

• Supporting clients on a one-to-one basis, either in person or over the phone, to complete Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Work Capability Assessment (WCA) forms
• Helping clients to articulate how their mental health and any related conditions impact their daily lives
• Helping clients prepare for health assessments and, where required, attending assessments with them to provide emotional support and help ensure their needs and challenges are fully heard
• Maintaining organised and up-to-date casework records and documentation
• Maintaining confidentiality and appropriate boundaries
• Keeping the Benefits Support Volunteer Manager and/or Advice Project Coordinator updated about client interactions and your location, in line with safeguarding and health and safety best practices
• Participating in regular support sessions and meetings as part of a collaborative and supportive volunteer team

Successful applicants will be expected to undergo an Enhanced Level Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Volunteers Wanted! Help Bring Our Rewilded Nature Trail to Life

The Sherriff Centre is looking for enthusiastic, community-minded volunteers to help care for and bring our new Rewilded Nature Trail to life in West Hampstead.

You could help with guided nature tours, gardening and seasonal maintenance, looking after our wildlife habitats, or simply helping keep the trail welcoming and accessible.

No experience is needed — just enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved! You’ll learn about biodiversity and sustainability, meet new people, gain practical experience and make a visible difference to your local community.

We welcome people who can volunteer regularly or occasionally, including weekdays, weekends and school holidays. Full training and support will be provided.

Help support cats in the North East of Scotland!

As a charity we can help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations from our supporters. Raising funds is a key role in our charity, helping to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need.

As a fundraising volunteer, we will support you every step of the way to ensure your time at Cats Protection is a positive and rewarding one. Whatever time you can give really does make a big difference We have lots of exciting activities to choose from for example attending a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, handling administrative tasks, or contributing to the development of new fundraising ideas. Whatever your skill set, this role could be perfect for you!

It is a flexible role, you have the choice to be involved in the following:

o face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping with fundraising events, attending supermarket collections and monitoring collection boxes.

o online fundraising – assisting with online appeals, increasing social media engagement to maximise funds raised.

o bringing new ideas! - We always love to come up with new ideas to raise funds for cats and we’d love to help bring yours to life.

o engaging with your local branch and Fundraising Hub and feeling like an integral part of the team.

You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge though Cats Protection’s learn online system, providing you with the skills to thrive as a fundraiser.  You’ll also have the chance to meet new people and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers.

Money raised by our volunteers enables us to put cats first. Cats are at the centre of all we do. We care for them, ensure their welfare, and help others to understand and better support them.

MINDSET is a bold, preventative mental fitness charity for teenage boys and men in London. We don’t do clinical therapy. We don’t sit on couches. We build systems, habits, and psychological tools that help men stay strong long before crisis hits.

We exist because too many good men have been breaking in silence. Our founder lived that reality — losing his father and close friends to battles they were never given the tools to fight. Their stories became our mission: no more preventable exits. No more silent suffering. No more men fighting alone.

Now we’re building a movement. A training ground. A new standard for male mental fitness.

And to launch this charity with strength, focus, and integrity, we need a small, high‑energy, high‑impact Trustee Board who can help us build MINDSET from the ground up.

THE ROLES WE’RE RECRUITING

1. Chair of Trustees

A steady, strategic leader who can guide our early direction, keep us aligned with our mission, and help us build a strong, safe, compliant organisation. You’ll be the anchor of our governance and the champion of our preventative mental fitness vision.

2. Treasurer

A numbers‑driven, detail‑focused trustee with UK accounting experience who can help us build lean, efficient financial systems. You’ll ensure our budgets, reporting, and financial planning are rock‑solid as we grow.

3. Fundraising & Grants Trustee

A proactive connector who can open doors, build partnerships, and secure funding. You’ll lead our grants strategy, donor relationships, and fundraising campaigns to fuel our 12‑week programmes. You'll also lead our board in fundraising areas and matters.

4. Safeguarding Lead Trustee

A calm, experienced safeguarding professional who ensures our boys and men are protected at every step. You’ll help us build safe systems, strong policies, and a culture of responsibility. You'll also lead our board in safeguarding areas and matters.

Additional Trustees (Various Specialisms)

We’re also seeking trustees with experience in:

• Strategy & organisational development

• Mental health, wellbeing, coaching or personal development

• Monitoring, evaluation & impact measurement

• Youth work or education

• Digital operations & community building

• Start‑up charities or early‑stage organisations

Why we want you
As branch secretary you help coordinate a range of activities and a calendar of events to help spread the word about SSAFA within your community. To ensure that our Armed Forces community know that SSAFA are here to help and that we need the public’s support to continue offering our services.

• Communication with branch volunteers
• Providing timely reports and information to SSAFA’s central office
• Co-ordinating a programme of meetings including an AGM, branch meetings, committee meetings, training etc..
