OVERALL PURPOSE OF ROLE
MAIN ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Using the voluntary working practices, policies, procedures and values set by Alex TLC, work with paid staff to ensure the charity shop business is run accordingly.
Work to the high standards expected at all Alex TLC shop premises according to the requests of the Shop Manager.
Work as a team member, taking full responsibility for all shop duties undertaken.
Participate in all training and legislative checks required by Alex TLC, statutory and specific to role.
CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES (INTERNAL & EXTERNAL)
Maintain excellent levels of customer service (remembering customer service extends to colleagues and service providers, as well as customers), going above and beyond where possible.
TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Expert knowledge of the safe and correct use of all equipment used in the day to day running of the charity shop, for example the till, steamer, pricing equipment. Training is provided.
OTHER FEATURES OF JOB
Hours of work are according to those agreed between yourself and the Shop Manager.

We offer a lifelong befriending service for adults with learning disabilities. Matching the skills and interests of passionate visitors with the specific hobbies and interests of the people we visit. We are looking for a patient and caring volunteer to visit a man in his early 60s who lives in a supported living home in central Coventry. He enjoys going to watch the football, woodwork and crafts, gentle walks, and watching sports and films.
Out and About Role
This is an Out and about visit role which means your visits are likely to be longer, very active and the person you visit will often take an active part in planning your outings and activities in the community. Your volunteer manager will be happy to help you with ideas and suggestions for things you can do. Visits will vary in length but tends to be around a couple of hours, sometimes shorter or longer, depending on what you plan to do.
In this role you will spend quality time with the person you visit and could do a range of different activities like:

Scope and Span
The Recruitment Support Officer assists in sourcing, screening, coordinating, and onboarding volunteers and team members across the operations.

- Commit to a maximum of 3 core days per week, 4 hours per day, and a minimum of 12 hours per week.

About this role
You may be doing lots of interesting support service actions:
- Answering calls from our shops, helping to resolve concerns
- Answering contacts from our customers, learning how to deliver great customer service
- Working on our retail operations online support system, dealing with suppliers and shops online and by phone
- Creating marketing assets to send to shops
- Joining teams working on specific projects like training packs, cost evaluation or shop merchandising
- Creating social media posts for our shop colleagues to share
- Learning how to use word, powerpoint and excel.
Every day is different, we manage lots of different projects whilst working on our annual plan. We can find a project to suit everyone.
Volunteering in the office could enable you to gain the skills needed to support searches for employment.
You must be over 18 for this role.
When and where
This role can be remote so can be worked from anywhere in UK or you can come into the Here East office one or two days per week.
Depending on your availability we are suggesting 4 hours per week during office hours, but would welcome any suggested volunteering patterns.

We're looking for volunteers to assist with the day to day running of our shops located across north east Essex. Volunteer vacancies are available in various shop locations.
Duties of the role include the following:
(Note - Not all the tasks apply to every shop and will be dependent on which shop; type of tasks required for that area and your level of experience)
- Customer service
- Operating till & cash handling
- Signing customers up to Gift Aid scheme & inputting gift aid data if required
- Preparing donated goods for sale
- Ensuring recyclable goods are put in appropriate place
- Pricing as outlined by the shop manager
- Display and merchandising (may include transferring items from one display to another)
- Stock control
- Sorting donated goods (this may include lifting or moving moderately heavy items such as sacks of donated clothes or boxes containing books in some areas)
- Light cleaning duties and using an iron or steamer to press donated clothes
For coffee shops only:
- Operating coffee machines, serving customers and clearing and wiping down tables
- Ensure good food hygiene, health and safety and fire regulations are adhered to at all times
Training & supervision
- All required training, including till operation, gift aid and health & safety will be provided.
- For coffee shops you will be required to undertake online food hygiene training courses.
Knowledge & experience required
- Some customer service experience would be advantageous
- Ability to remain calm while listening to a customer complaint

We are Tŷ Hafan.
We provide comfort, care and support to children with life-shortening conditions and their loved ones.
Too many families in Wales are struggling through the fear, exhaustion and uncertainty that comes with caring for a child whose life will be short.
At the moment we only have enough money and resources to support 10% of the families who need us.
Through volunteering, you can help us to reach every family who needs us.
As a Till & Customer Service Volunteer at our Cowbridge shop, you will assist our shop managers by serving and greeting customers and keeping the shop organised.
Our Cowbridge shop is in a prime location in the middle of the town's high street, immediately next to an all too tempting deli and about a two minute walk from the town car park.
The shop boasts a large window in which deputy manager Gemma creates themed and highly creative window for which they shop has won many an award.
Tom and Gemma have been utilising eBay to sell highest quality donations with great success and have recently launched a shop Instagram page (search tyhafancowbridge).
Tom and Gemma are always on the lookout for quirky, rare, vintage and high-value donations, and our jewellery, bric-a-brac and antiques specialists are more than happy to appraise any stock that comes our way. Further to this, books and vinyl also sell very well at Cowbridge.
The shop is open 9am-4:45pm Monday-Sunday and we appreciate any time you can spare.
Our shops generate funds that directly support the whole family, from therapeutic services for children, to emotional and practical care for families, to sibling support activities & experiences.
Considerations:
Age requirement: 18+

Commitment: Ideally, we would be looking for your support for at least 2 hours a week.

Join FARA, a charity with over 30 years of experience and 39 charity shops across London. Our Streatham shop is looking for creative and enthusiastic Social Media (Instagram) Volunteer to help us keep our Instagram content fresh, engaging, and up to date.
By volunteering with us, you’ll directly support our mission, help promote reuse through donation and recycling, and contribute to a positive experience for our customers and online community.
The Role:
As a volunteer, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Creating Instagram content, including posts and stories
- Capturing photos and videos that highlight our activities, updates, and events
- Showcasing donation appeals in a clear and appealing way
- Helping maintain a consistent and on-brand social media presence
