Are you looking for a meaningful volunteering opportunity where you can make a real difference? We are currently recruiting new Volunteer Mentors to join our growing, diverse network of dedicated volunteers.

At Hope for the Young, our mission to support young refugees and asylum seekers in London as they overcome the many challenges of starting a new life in the UK. From navigating education systems to building confidence and social connections, our Volunteer Mentors play a crucial role in helping young people achieve their goals and fulfil their potential.

What You’ll Do as a Mentor

• Meet with a young person (mentee) once a week for 1–3 hours, usually in a local café, library, or community space in London

• Set education and personal development goals and offer guidance, support and motivation towards these

• Commit to mentoring for a minimum of six months

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from people of different ages, cultural backgrounds, and professional experiences. You don’t need prior mentoring experience - just empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to support a young person.

We’re especially keen to build a diverse pool of mentors to reflect the backgrounds and experiences of the young people we support. We particularly welcome and encourage applications from those with lived experience of forced migration, as well those with ethnically diverse backgrounds.

Volunteer role: Befriender

Reports to: Befriender Lead

Commitment level: Flexible – typically one to two hours per week. Times mutually agreed between Befriender and Befriendee.

Location: Stamford, Bourne, Deeping and surrounding villages.

Purpose of the Voluntary role:

The purpose of this role is to provide a Befriendee (a service user or member who needs social engagement, is lonely or bereaved) with an opportunity to develop a wholesome and mutually caring relationship with a willing partner (Befriender). The Trust believes that honest friendships are a positive way of establishing social value and support for those who may, for any number of reasons, find themselves isolated, alone, or lonely.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safe storage of Befriendee data, files, key safe code

• Honest and accurate in all record keeping

• Maintain appropriate boundaries and knowing the limits of the Befriending role

• Raise any concerns with the Befriender Lead

• Maintain confidentiality at all times unless given express permission to share information

• Uphold the Values of Evergreen Care Trust.

• Focused, organized and able to prioritize and execute tasks independently 

• Passion in martial arts is preferable, although not a must

• Well-organized, proactive, self-starter, and able to deliver tasks efficiently.

• Bachelor’s degree in film studies, Cinematography, or a related field.

• Experience with colour correction and sound design.

• Online fundraising – setting up online appeals and writing engaging cat case studies to maximise donations
• Marketing and promotion – spreading the word about fundraising activities via social media and local press
• Administration – processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, and completing Gift Aid paperwork
• Championing our work – helping to develop new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement
• Photography – capturing images of cats in care, cats we’re helping, fundraising events, and all things Cats Protection

As a Volunteer Health Walk Leader, you will play a key role in supporting our residents to become more active and improve their wellbeing through social walks!

Project Resilience provides easily accessible opportunities for our hostel residents to take part in a variety of social and sporting activities to boost overall health and wellbeing.

You’ll help lead short, safe, and friendly group walk, especially for those who may be inactive, recovering from illness, or looking to improve their physical and mental health.

You will:

·Plan and lead regular health walks in your local area

·Welcome and support all participants, ensuring a positive and inclusive atmosphere

·Carry out basic safety checks and risk assessments for walk routes

·Encourage conversation and connection among walkers

Monitor attendance and report back to the coordinator as required

Skills required:

·First Aid Qualification

·Friendly, approachable, and reliable

·Good communication and people skills

·An interest in walking and promoting healthy lifestyles

·Able to walk at a steady pace for 30–60 minutes

This role is hybrid based in Birmingham Third Space (687 Stratford Road, B11 4DX)

Volunteers are an integral part of Human Appeal’s success. They are the ones that create real change for those most in need. This is your chance to meet new people, gain new skills and experience and have fun whilst being part of a great cause.​ We are looking for a engagement intern to assist the fundraising and engagement team in developing events, project management and admin support..

Main tasks:

• Administrative tasks such as collating data, contacting signups for pledges, various challenges, deployments and events. 
• Assist with administrational tasks relating to fundraising 
• Create content for social media
• Contact guests who have booked for events
• Research venues, catering and other fundraising related tasks for upcoming events 
• May be asked to go to occasional events dependent on location ​

Skills and Abilities​:

• A good understanding of humanitarian relief
• Effective written and oral communication skills 
• Good content creating and social media skills
• Problem solving skills 
• Ability to prioritise your workload
