Job description

Help build, support, and inspire the SUNSHINE volunteer family

SUNSHINE is a brand‑new charity with a bold mission: to replace loneliness with belonging and spark a grassroots joy movement across London and beyond. Volunteers are the heartbeat of this mission — and we’re looking for a dedicated Volunteer Manager to help us recruit, welcome, support, and empower the people who will bring SUNSHINE to life.

If you love people, organisation, and creating a warm, supportive culture, this role is at the centre of our movement.

Why this role matters

SUNSHINE is built on human connection — and that starts with our volunteers. Your leadership will ensure that:

  • Volunteers feel welcomed, valued, and part of something meaningful.

  • New team members are recruited, interviewed, and onboarded with care.

  • Everyone knows what they’re doing and feels supported doing it.

  • Communication is clear, warm, and consistent.

  • SUNSHINE grows with a strong, joyful, people‑centred culture.

You will help shape the community that powers the charity.

What you’ll do

You’ll take the lead on building and supporting our volunteer team by:

  • Recruiting new volunteers across a range of roles.

  • Leading interviews and helping select the right people for the mission.

  • Designing and delivering onboarding and induction processes.

  • Helping create training materials and support resources.

  • Keeping volunteers informed, engaged, and motivated.

  • Creating simple systems for communication, check‑ins, and updates.

  • Helping build a culture where volunteers feel like part of the SUNSHINE family.

This is a hands‑on, people‑powered role where your warmth and organisation make a real difference.

What we’re looking for

You don’t need formal HR experience — just heart, clarity, and a love of people. You’ll thrive here if you are:

  • Friendly, organised, and great at communication.

  • Confident interviewing and welcoming new people.

  • Passionate about building community and belonging.

  • Good at creating structure and keeping things running smoothly.

  • Motivated by purpose, not ego.

  • Excited by the idea of helping build a charity from the ground up.

If you love supporting people and helping them shine, you’ll fit right in.

What you’ll gain

  • A leadership role in shaping SUNSHINE’s volunteer culture.

  • The chance to build systems and processes from scratch.

  • A warm, supportive, values‑driven environment.

  • Real influence over how the charity grows.

  • The joy of seeing volunteers thrive because of your support.

This is a volunteer role — but it’s also a legacy‑building role with long‑term impact.

Ready to help build the SUNSHINE family?

If you want to help create a joyful, welcoming, people‑centred volunteer community, we’d love to hear from you.

Let’s build something beautiful together.
