As a volunteer Charity Shop Assistant, you would join a small team working with the shop manager and 1-2 other volunteers to help make it a success and raise vital funds for animal welfare.

At WWT we believe that the best way for people to understand and connect to wetlands is to experience them, so we bring awe-inspiring nature up close and let it do the talking. At Slimbridge Wetland Centre visitors can explore unique wetland habitats and the amazing array of birds, mammals and amphibians that inhabit them. Our volunteers help to welcome and inspire visitors, and look after our unique habitats and heritage. Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. Time commitment: You can pick from full-day (9.15am until 4pm) or half-day (9.15am-1pm or 1-4pm) sessions. Or speak to your volunteering manager if different hours would better suit your circumstances. We are currently looking for volunteers on Saturdays or Sundays. A minimum commitment of once a fortnight is preferred.

Could your love of cycling inspire and support young people?

We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support our Youth Project sessions in Bristol!

About this role

As a Youth Project Volunteer, you’ll work alongside our friendly staff and playworkers at local adventure playgrounds, supporting a welcoming and inclusive environment.

You’ll get involved in a range of cycling activities, including:

• Showing young people how to look after their bikes
• Encouraging children to try cycling skills and group rides
• Helping young people explore green spaces and their local area by bike
• Joining in with games and creative activities

No two sessions are the same, but each session is a great way to make a real difference in your community while having fun alongside young people.

About the Youth Project

Our Youth Project engages young people through imaginative and inspiring cycle-related activity sessions.

Sessions run after school and during school holidays at three adventure playgrounds. We’re currently looking for support at Southmead Adventure Playground (the Ranch) and Lockleaze Adventure Playground (the Vench).

About you

We’re looking for volunteers who:

• Are warm, friendly and enjoy working with children and young people (aged 11 – 16).
• Communicate clearly and patiently with young people, parents and playground staff
• Have an interest in cycling and/or a willingness to learn basic bike repair skills
• Are able to commit to a regular weekly session (2–3 hours per week during term time)

A valid enhanced DBS check is required (or willingness to apply).

About Life Cycle

Life Cycle is a charity that works with people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds at every stage of their cycling journey, from learning to ride, to building a career in the cycle industry.  Our Youth Project is part of our work to support inclusion and community well-being through cycling. 

Do you love music and dance? Would you like to join us and have fun with the people we support?  

We are looking for a friendly volunteer who can lead a session of dance, aerobics or exercise, and enjoy moving to music together!  

  
Activities will include:    

• Sharing your time with people we support and leading a group session of movement to music.  This can be dancing, aerobics or other ideas you would like to bring along!  

• Demonstrating dance moves and encouraging people to join in  

• Chatting away and building friendships    

  We are looking for volunteers who are:     

• Confident to lead a group and dance freely (any level of skill is welcome)    

• Enthusiastic with a passion for dance and movement   

• Happy to take requests and share ideas    

• Comfortable chatting with people with learning disabilities and autism     

• Reliable and willing to volunteer regularly (days/times to be agreed)   

A DBS check and two character references will be required for this role.
