As a Trustee, you’ll have the opportunity to apply your unique skills and experience to lead our welcoming and dedicated Board. You will be expected to:
-
Oversee the implementation of Adoption UK’s strategy
-
Support the senior leadership team, adding value and expert advice

The Board of trustees meets four times a year – these meetings are a mix of virtual and in-person meetings. The annual time commitment is 5 days per year, plus preparation and reading time, with opportunities for deeper involvement in relevant areas of the charity’s work. You will be invited to Adoption UK events. The role is not remunerated but travel and expenses are paid.
We are committed to being an inclusive charity, and we welcome and encourage applications from all sections of the community. Our new trustees will bring a passionate commitment to ensuring adopted people have a brighter future. They will help us to ensure we fully represent the diversity in the adoption community, as well as the voice of adopted people.
As a UK wide charity, we aim to have representation on our Board from all constituent nations, and across a variety of backgroundsand lived experience. At this time, we are looking to appoint someone from Scotland and are looking for other trustees with financial or charity management expertise. Professional or lived experience of the adoption or social care sector is desirable, but not essential.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect everyone working with us to share this commitment.
