About us:

We're seeking new trustees to join our team and contribute to the effective governance of our charity that delivers information, advice and wellbeing support for unpaid carers in two northwest London boroughs. Our Hillingdon team also offer a young carers service supporting children and young people, aged 5 to 25 years old, who live in Hillingdon and have a caring responsibility at home.

As a trustee, you will have a positive opportunity to make an impact on the lives of unpaid carers in Hillingdon and Ealing! 

You will be essential in ensuring the effective governance of a charity whose mission is to offer support and guidance to anyone living with the challenges of being an unpaid carer.

About you:

We are delighted to now be covering the London borough of Ealing in addition to Hillingdon and our current focus is strengthening Carers Trust Hillingdon & Ealing's market position. We are particularly interested to talk to people with skills and experience in:

• Marketing and communications
• Information technology
• A good knowledge of the local Ealing area and/or statutory services there
• Finance / Accounting

You would need to be able to devote the necessary time and have strategic vision, independent judgement and an ability to think creatively.

Working hours:

Our governing body is made up of 7 trustees and meetings take place six times a year, typically on a Friday 10:00am to 12:00pm. The option to join meetings online is also available. We pay travel and out-of-pocket expenses and new trustees will receive a full induction. Trustees can also access a small training budget by agreement with the Finance Committee.

Heartwood House is a unique organisation, working to support and empower young people to engage with education and achieve their potential, free from mainstream system constraints. We are a small, values-driven community, and our trustees play a vital role in guiding our mission and ensuring the long-term sustainability of what we do.

At Heartwood House, we deliver full-time education for students experiencing emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA). Our, methodology places wellbeing at the core of students' education, focusing on mental health, personal growth, and positive social interactions alongside academic instruction.

Students have an inherent right to respectful and caring treatment, independent of behaviour or academic performance. As a trustee, you will help uphold and champion our policy of unconditional positive regard, the principle that everyone (staff or student) should always be treated with respect and dignity, no matter the situation.

Education takes place in small groups, with lessons tailored to each student's individual needs and interests. As a trustee, you will gain insight into a genuinely distinctive educational model, and your governance will directly support the staff who build meaningful relationships with every young person in our care.

All staff are invested in and actively participate in student wellbeing, integrating mental health support and personal growth throughout the day, not just in designated sessions. Trustees share responsibility for ensuring this holistic approach is protected and resourced appropriately.

We offer academic instruction from Entry Level to GCSE in subjects aligned with students' interests and future plans. Almost all students study English, Maths, Science, and Art at a minimum, with most pursuing additional subjects at the centre or online. As a trustee, you will help ensure the organisation remains financially and strategically positioned to continue delivering this flexible, student-centred curriculum.

Stepping Stones Learning and Leisure is a small, friendly charity based in Southwark, providing inclusive activities for adults with learning disabilities. We believe everyone should have the chance to express themselves, connect with others, and take part in activities that bring joy, confidence, and new skills.

We’re currently looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Drama Class Volunteer to support our weekly Friday afternoon sessions (1.30-3.30), held at St Faith’s Community Centre, Red Post Hill, SE24 9JQ (close to North Dulwich and Herne Hill stations). This position would begin in September 2026, however we would like applicants to apply in advance of this date so we can organise a taster session in the class before the summer break.

About The Role

We're looking for someone with a background in drama to support our tutor in delivering accessible and fun drama sessions for a small group of adults with learning disabilities. Each year, the group works towards a production which is performed at our end-of-year Summer Show, making this a fun, creative, and rewarding volunteering opportunity.

As a Drama Class Volunteer at Stepping Stones, you will:

• Encourage and support learners during rehearsals and performances
• Help with setting up props, costumes and resources for sessions
• Participate alongside learners where appropriate
• Offer 1:1 or group support where needed to help participants engage
• Help cultivate a warm, inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels safe to express themselves
• Offer creative input and feedback

Prior to volunteering, we ask all volunteers to:

• Attend an in-person session with the Stepping Stones team and learners
• Provide two references
• Complete a DBS check (we will arrange this)
• Commit to volunteering one session per week for 3 x 10 week terms throughout the year. For continuity for our service users, we would like you to commit to volunteering with us for one year.

The Isabel Blackman Centre is a much-loved community venue in the heart of the Old Town, Hastings providing a haven for health, wellbeing, and leisure. Facilities include an exercise studio and gym, café restaurant, activity and event space, treatment rooms, accessible bathing facilities and a community shop. Designed specifically for the over 50’s but a venue that everyone in the community can enjoy.

The Café Volunteer is a key part of the café and catering team providing great food and service at the heart of our Centre. Working alongside our Head Chef, Kitchen & Café Assistant and other volunteers you will help ensure our café / restaurant is well known for its enticing, healthy and affordable menus and the amazing experience we offer

About Us

Cities for Children believes that all children deserve the “Right to Childhood” – the right to learn and play in safety. Guided by our mantra that “happy memories build resilience,” we weave together three core strands of work—the Right to Read, the Right to Play, and the Right to Feel Safe—to reinforce learning and wellbeing for vulnerable children. Our mission is to provide safe, nurturing social and material environments important for the development and individual well-being of children in and around cities, including street-connected children, working children, and those from refugee, displaced or migrant communities.

Role Overview

Cities for Children is looking for compassionate and enthusiastic volunteers to support our work bringing playful learning to refugee children in transitional housing in West London. These sessions are designed to help children build confidence, resilience, and English language skills, while fostering a sense of belonging and joy in their new environment. 

This is your opportunity to step into a role where your kindness creates real change. You will be a crucial part of a child’s journey towards settling in the UK, gaining valuable, hands-on experience with an international NGO dedicated to child wellbeing and humanitarian response. 

Commitment

• Day/Time: 2 days a week

• Dates: 13 July - 1 September

• Location: West London (Exact locations shared upon successful application)

Key Responsibilities

• Support lead facilitator in delivering playful, interactive learning activities (such as arts, storytelling, and games) and help with setup and pack-up.

• Build rapport with the children to encourage active participation and maintain a safe, welcoming, and positive environment.

• Support data collection, documentation and evaluation activities. 

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for someone who: 

• Has an academic background in social sciences or education (preferred). 

• Is able to engage children, particularly those from vulnerable backgrounds. Experience with refugee or asylum-seeking children is a bonus but not required. 

• Is patient, empathetic, and culturally sensitive, with an understanding of the challenges refugee children face as they adapt to a new country. 

• Communicates effectively and works collaboratively with the main facilitator and other team members. 

• Is enthusiastic and reliable, committed to attending sessions every Thursday. 

• Has an enhanced DBS check.

Support Provided

• A structured session plan will be created by the main facilitator for you to follow. 

• Guidance and training on working with vulnerable children will be provided. 

• Reasonable travel expenses covered. 

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so early application is strongly encouraged.

We are a Manchester based dementia support charity, looking to recruit a team of Volunteer Minibus Escorts, to accompany our drivers onboard our two Together Dementia Support minibuses - helping to pick-up and drop-off our service users before and after groups.

Drivers and Escorts are a key part of our service user experience – you’ll be their first and last contact with Together Dementia Support each week, so we rely on our escorst  provide a to be positive, supportive and enjoyable experience.

Volunteer Escorts will board the minibus with our drivers in the morning (at the Kath Locke Centre, M15 5DD) ready to pick service users up and transport them to the group, which will run for 2 hours. Depending on your availability, once the group has ended there is an option to finish your volunteering shift, or support members on the minibus for the return journey – finishing back at the Kath Locke Centre. We may also ask you to begin your volunteering shift at the group, and then support on the return journey.

You’ll be responsible for our service users boarding and disembark the minibus safely, and engaging with them throughout the journey. You also be expected to stay in good contact with our service users and carers around pick-up times, delays or issues. You’ll also stay in good contact with our office and the group Dementia Support Co-ordinator around any issues or problems.

All volunteers are also expected to adhere to the following Together Dementia Support policies – Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Equality Diversity & Inclusion, and any other policies deemed relevant.

Minibus Escorts will recieve comprehensive Induction Training, and Moving & Handling Training. You will also have to understake a DBS Check, which we cover the cost for.

About The Role

This role is ideal for someone who loves to get stuck in. You’ll support our gardening tutor in delivering accessible and fun gardening sessions for a small group of adults with learning disabilities. Every class will be an opportunity to learn new gardening skills, from pulling weeds to sowing seeds. With your help, we aim to provide our learners with a sense of pride and satisfaction at having nurtured a growthful space with others, whilst learning invaluable skills along the way. 

As a Gardening Club Volunteer at Stepping Stones, you will:

Prior to volunteering, we ask all volunteers to:

• Attend an in-person session with the Stepping Stones team and learners
• Provide two references
• Complete a DBS check (we will arrange this)
• Commit to volunteering bi weekly from March-October. For continuity for our service users, we ask that you commit to volunteering in this role for at least one season, until at October 2026.

We are Ditch the Label; a global digital-first youth charity working to make technology work for young people, not against them. We provide direct support, digital safe spaces, research, and education programmes to tackle online harms and help young people navigate the online world.

ROLE - Young Trustee

Are you aged 16-25 and passionate about making a difference for young people?

WHY BECOME A YOUNG TRUSTEE?

As a trustee, you won't just be a token voice in the room. You'll be a full member of our board, with a real say in the decisions that shape Ditch the Label's future. You'll help us stay true to the young people we exist to serve, challenge us when we need it, and bring your own experiences and ideas to the table.

This is a genuine leadership opportunity. No corporate experience needed. Just passion, curiosity, and a willingness to show up.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a Young Trustee, you will:

-Attend quarterly board meetings (online or in-person)

-Help shape the direction and priorities of Ditch the Label

-Make sure the young people we support are always at the heart of our decisions

-Review reports and information about our work and share your views

-Act as an ambassador for Ditch the Label and the young people we work with

-Bring your lived experience and fresh perspective to everything we do

You'll also have the opportunity to get more involved in specific areas of our work, from online safety to education to campaigns, depending on your interests.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

You don't need a CV full of experience. You just need:

-Passion for supporting young people and improving their lives

-Lived experience of issues that matter to young people (this could be online safety, mental health, bullying, identity, or something else)

-Curiosity and an open mind, you're not afraid to ask questions

-Commitment to attending board meetings and engaging between meetings when needed

-A willingness to learn; full support will be provided

WHAT YOU'LL GET FROM US

We want this to be a genuinely positive experience for you. As a Young Trustee, you'll receive:

-Full induction and trustee training - no prior experience needed

-Prior to all trustee meetings, the Chief Executive Officer will meet with you to ensure you feel prepared for the main trustee meeting

-A dedicated person from our existing board and within the Ditch the Label team

-Regular check-ins and ongoing support throughout your term

-Travel covered for in-person meetings

-The chance to develop real leadership, decision-making, and governance skills

-Something pretty impressive to add to your CV

THE DETAILS

Time commitment: Approximately 3 hours per month, including 4 board meetings per year

Location: Online and/or in Brighton

Remuneration: This is a voluntary role. Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

Age: Open to anyone aged 16-25 at the point of application
