Community Hub Volunteer

Could you serve coffee once a week? Could you bake us the occasional sweet treat? Are you a big fan of boardgames? Do you like meeting new people? The Living Room Community Hub at St Andrew's Church in Boscombe and is open on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays 9am-11:30am. It offers a welcoming space where the local community can enjoy hot drinks and cake. Visitors are encouraged to take part in games, puzzles, and social activities that foster connection and community. Regular events include a Monday Games Club and Tea & Toast Tuesdays, creating consistent opportunities for people to meet new friends and feel part of a supportive local network.

Role Description This is a volunteering opportunity to support our local community. The role includes welcoming visitors, serving refreshments, setting up and tidying away games and activities, and helping maintain a warm, inclusive atmosphere. The volunteer supports the smooth running of Monday Games Club and Tea & Toast Tuesdays by preparing the space, engaging participants, and encouraging conversation and participation.

The ideal team member has:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Experience in customer service or hospitality, including welcoming guests, serving food and drinks, and ensuring a positive visitor experience.
• Organisational and time management skills for setting up activities, maintaining a tidy environment, and supporting the smooth-running of the hub.
• Teamwork and collaboration skills, with a willingness to get stuck in.
• Reliability, punctuality, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and community-focused space.
• Familiarity with safeguarding and basic health and safety.
