Norfolk Tennis is the county governing body for tennis and padel in Norfolk and a volunteer-led Charitable Incorporated Organisation (Charity No. 1203480). We work in partnership with the Lawn Tennis Association to support clubs, venues, coaches and players across the county, helping more people enjoy the physical, social and community benefits of tennis and padel. Our work aligns with the LTA’s “Tennis Opened Up” strategy, which aims to make the sport accessible, welcoming and enjoyable for everyone. Norfolk Tennis is governed by a Board of Trustees supported by a volunteer Management Committee representing clubs, venues and key development areas across the county. As tennis and padel continue to grow, Norfolk Tennis is seeking individuals to join its Board of Trustees and contribute strategic leadership to the development of tennis and padel across the county.

About the Trustee Role
Trustees play a vital role in ensuring Norfolk Tennis is well governed, financially sustainable and strategically focused. Working collaboratively with fellow Trustees and the Management Committee, Trustees help ensure the organisation operates effectively as a charity while delivering meaningful impact for tennis and padel across the county.

Trustees are responsible for:

• Supporting the strategic direction of Norfolk Tennis
• Ensuring strong governance, accountability and compliance
• Providing independent professional expertise and oversight
• Acting in the best interests of the charity and its beneficiaries
• Helping ensure resources are used effectively to support tennis development

Trustees attend periodic Trustee meetings (typically online) and may attend Management Committee meetings where helpful to maintain alignment between governance and operational delivery.

We are particularly interested in individuals who can contribute leadership or professional expertise in the following areas.

Governance & Charity Law Trustee
To support strong governance and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, Norfolk Tennis is seeking a volunteer trustee with expertise in charity law.

This role focuses on providing guidance on legal responsibilities, governance best practice and risk management to support the organisation’s long-term stability and integrity.

Key contributions include:
• Advising the Board of Trustees on charity law, governance and regulatory requirements
• Supporting compliance with Charity Commission guidance and best practice
• Reviewing governing documents and supporting any required updates
• Providing input on policies, risk management and decision-making processes
• Ensuring the organisation operates within its legal and charitable objectives
• Offering guidance on contracts, partnerships and potential liabilities

This role would suit someone with experience in charity law, governance, legal advisory or regulatory compliance, ideally with an understanding of the charitable or sports sector.

Inclusion & Disability Trustee
Norfolk Tennis is committed to ensuring tennis and padel are open and accessible to all communities.

The Inclusion & Disability Trustee helps champion equality, diversity and accessibility across the county, supporting initiatives that widen participation and remove barriers to involvement.

The role includes:

• Supporting Norfolk Tennis in embedding Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) principles
• Championing inclusive participation for disabled players and under-represented groups
• Advising on inclusive programme development and community engagement
• Supporting initiatives linked to the LTA’s Open Court disability tennis programme
• Helping identify partnerships with organisations supporting inclusive sport

This role would suit someone with experience in EDI leadership, disability sport, community engagement, education or inclusion policy.

Who We Are Looking For
We welcome applicants who bring professional expertise, leadership experience and an interest in supporting community sport.

Experience in tennis is not essential.

We particularly welcome individuals with backgrounds in:

• finance, accounting or investment

Most importantly, we are looking for people who bring sound judgement, integrity, collaborative working and a commitment to supporting tennis across Norfolk.

Time Commitment
The role is designed to fit alongside professional and personal commitments.

• periodic Trustee meetings (normally online/Zoom)
• monthly (or every 5-6 weeks) Management Committee meetings (normally online/Zoom)
• periodic engagement on strategic matters within your area of expertise

Volunteer as a courtwatcher and become the eyes and ears of your community in your local magistrates’ court.

CourtWatch is a mass court observation project, where citizen volunteers observe the daily hearings in court and write down what they see. The real-time data and stories volunteers collect will shine a spotlight on what really happens in our local courts, expose shortfalls and highlight systemic injustices. The CourtWatch project is run by Transform Justice, a charity that works for a fairer, more compassionate criminal justice system. 

Volunteer responsibilities:

• visit your local magistrates’ court for half a day (or a day) at a time, on any weekday. Ideally volunteers will courtwatch for a minimum of two days (or four half days)

• observe criminal hearings happening in the court and write down what happens in the hearings you observe, using a form provided by the CourtWatch team 

• write up your notes into an online form after your visit (if you don’t have easy access to a computer, we can work around this) 

Benefits of being a courtwatcher:

• learn about what happens in the magistrates’ courts 

• develop new skills including research, attention to detail, observation, insight

• help build a picture of what’s happening in your local magistrates’ court, expose systemic injustices and help make courts fairer and more compassionate 

• be part of community of people who share a passion for justice 

Skills and experience:

Anyone can courtwatch! You do not need any knowledge or expertise in law or criminal justice to be a courtwatcher.  You just need to be passionate about justice and equality, and keen to create positive change in your community. 

We will provide you with all the training you need on what happens at court, what to look out for and how to document what happens. Training will be online and likely take place over two sessions. There will also be regular check-ins and debriefs where you can talk with the CourtWatch team and other volunteers about what you saw and heard.

Other information:

Criminal hearings take place on weekdays between 10am and 5pm, with a break for lunch 1-2pm, and Saturday mornings 10am - 1pm. 

Within the times above, and once you’ve completed the training, you can go to court when it is most convenient to you. You might want to buddy up with another volunteer for your first visit while you learn the ropes; we can help arrange this. 

You can courtwatch any time from when you’ve completed your training to 30 November 2026 – we hope you’ll become a regular! – after which we will use data you have collected to produce a report.  We may also use some of the stories and data you collect to communicate about what’s happening in courts while courtwatching is still underway.

Transform Justice will cover reasonable expenses that you incur while courtwatching, for example for travel and lunch, upon production of valid receipts and in line with our expenses policy. 

Transform Justice will make reasonable adjustments for people with disabilities who would like to volunteer. Please get in touch and we will discuss with you how to achieve this.

Before you begin courtwatching we will ask you to complete our volunteer training and a pre-courtwatching survey, and sign our volunteer agreement. 

About this Role: Lead Full Stack Engineer

Commitment: Part-time (volunteer, unpaid role)

Summary of Role:

As a Lead Full Stack Engineer, you will lead Solution Community’s mission by building, improving, and developing the technical systems that power our global, volunteer‑driven organization. Engineers work across both front‑end and back‑end components, participate in technical planning, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver meaningful, user‑centered solutions. Responsibilities:

• Develop and Maintain Applications: Design, build, and maintain robust and scalable web applications using Firebase for backend and React/Next.js for frontend.

Position Requirements

• Proficiency in Firebase: 5-7 years of strong experience in developing backend applications using Firebase (BaaS) Framework, with a solid understanding of Functions, Auth, Storage, Security Rules and Hosting services.

• Expertise in: React and Next.js, in-depth knowledge of React and Next.js for building dynamic and responsive frontend interfaces, with a focus on server-side rendering and static site generation.

• Full Stack Development: Proven ability to work across the entire stack, from designing and implementing backend services to creating interactive and user-friendly frontend applications.

• Version Control and Collaboration: Experience with Git and GitHub/GitLab for version control, with a collaborative approach to working in a team environment.

The Role

As Director of Communications, you will be the architect and hands‑on executor of Project Yananai’s global communications strategy. This is not a purely strategic role; you will be expected to lead by doing. You will draft high‑value communications materials yourself, manage digital platforms, and produce content that resonates with diverse audiences - donors, partners, governments, and the communities we serve. You will work closely with the Chief Advancement Officer, the Director of Strategic Partnerships, Director of Funding, the Deputy Chief Advancement Officer, and National Management Teams to ensure that our communications are aligned with fundraising priorities and partnership objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Communications Strategy & Brand Management

• Develop and execute a comprehensive global communications strategy that supports Project Yananai’s mission, Theory of Change, and growth objectives.

Hands‑On Content Creation & Production

• Personally draft and edit high‑value communications materials, including:
  • Funding proposals and donor impact reports
  • Press releases, media statements, and op‑eds
  • Website copy, blog posts, and case studies
  • Newsletters, email campaigns, and stewardship communications
  • Social media content (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
  • Internal communications (team updates, newsletters, leadership messages)
• Design and produce visual content using design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) to create compelling graphics, infographics, and presentation materials.
• Manage the production of multimedia content, including videos, photography, and audio, in collaboration with program teams and external partners as needed.

Digital Platforms & Tools

• Oversee the organisation’s digital presence, including the website, social media channels, and email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Salesforce Marketing Cloud).
• Manage and optimise content management systems, ensuring that the website is up‑to‑date, user‑friendly, and aligned with SEO best practices.
• Use analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, social media insights) to monitor performance, measure engagement, and inform strategy.

Donor & Partner Communications

• Work closely with the Advancement team to develop compelling communications that support fundraising, partnership development, and donor stewardship.
• Lead the production of high‑quality donor reports, proposals, and pitch decks that articulate impact and build trust.
• Ensure that all donor‑facing materials are consistent, professional, and aligned with regulatory requirements (including Fundraising Regulator standards).

Media Relations & Public Affairs

• Build and maintain relationships with key journalists, media outlets, and sector influencers.
• Draft and distribute press releases, manage media inquiries, and coordinate interviews with senior leadership.
• Identify opportunities for thought leadership, including speaking engagements, conference presentations, and contributed articles.

Internal Communications

• Develop and implement an internal communications strategy that keeps our global team informed, engaged, and aligned with organisational priorities.
• Draft and distribute regular internal updates, including leadership messages, team newsletters, and operational announcements.
• Ensure that National Management Teams have the communications tools and support they need to share local stories and coordinate messaging.

Team Leadership & Capacity Building

• Build and lead a growing communications function, including recruiting, managing, and mentoring staff and volunteers as the team expands.
• Provide training and guidance to colleagues across the organisation on communications best practices, brand consistency, and storytelling.

Compliance & Governance

• Ensure that all communications comply with UK charity law, Fundraising Regulator requirements, data protection regulations (UK GDPR), and local laws in our focus countries.
• Maintain accurate records of communications activities and materials.

About You

Essential Experience & Track Record

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in communications, public relations, or marketing, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven track record of developing and executing communications strategies for international organisations, preferably in the non‑profit or development sector.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills, with demonstrated ability to craft compelling narratives for diverse audiences (donors, media, internal teams).
• Hands‑on experience with design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) and content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal).
• Proficiency with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Salesforce) and social media management tools.
• Experience managing media relations and building relationships with journalists and influencers.

Qualifications
