We are looking for a finance professional to join our engaged and friendly board as Treasurer, with specific oversight of the charity’s financial management. While day-to-day financial administration is carried out by employees or external providers, the Treasurer works closely with them and the Board to ensure sound financial governance. The Treasurer provides financial leadership, helps trustees understand the organisation’s finances, and ensures that the charity meets its financial and statutory obligations.
You will have a qualification in Financial Management, Accounting, or Audit, or perhaps be a senior Finance Manager or Director in a charity. We welcome applications from people for whom this is their first Treasurer role, but we are seeking candiates who have some understanding and/or experience of the charity sector. We are willing to provide access to training around the treasurer role, but a basic knowledge of charity accounting and financial management would be a strong advantage.
You will have the ability to communicate financial information clearly to those without financial expertise and be a strategic thinker, with the ability to balance financial scrutiny with broader trustee responsibilities.
Our board meet once a month (either virtually or in person in London) for around 90 minutes. We aim to have strategy days twice a year. You will meet with the CEO and Finance Manager once a month, and be available for ad hoc emails, advice. Trustees are usually appointed for a three-year term, which can usually be extended.
You will also bring a commitment to the values, aims, and objectives of the charity, and a desire to help children and young people who have experienced grief.
Our mission is to provide early intervention to help young people everywhere feel less alone when their world is turned upside down.

This is an exciting time in the evolution of the organisation. As we prepare for our 50th anniversary in 2027, we are reflecting on our impact – past, present and future – while working towards a more comprehensive creative offer for young theatre-makers across Scotland.
Reaching the end of his tenure on the board, our outgoing Chair has been crucial to the company’s navigation of the most challenging times in our sector and the remodelling of the company. The new Chair will come into an organisation with a committed board and small industrious staff team with big ambitions.
Current priorities:
- Grow the artistic programme for the benefit of more young artists with different needs and aspirations across Scotland
- Amplify the company’s profile and increase awareness of the work and priorities of SYT now

What we are looking for
- Previous experience in a governance or leadership role in the charitable sector (previous experience as a Chair is not essential but knowledge and familiarity with charity governance requirements is essential)

Role of the Board
Board members are non-executive directors of the company and trustees of the charity. They have corporate and individual responsibilities under company law and charity law.
The Board is responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of Scottish Youth Theatre, supporting the staff team to deliver on the company’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines.
Responsibilities of the Chair
Provide leadership to the board and chair board meetings
Work with fellow Trustees to ensure compliance with legal, financial and environmental requirements Maintain an overview of the board’s performance, appraising individual and collective performance Maintain an overview of the composition of the board in skills and diversity and to lead on refreshment and succession planning.
Supporting the CEO
Appoint the CEO, in conjunction with the board, and monitor their performance
Line manage and support the CEO and be a point of liaison
Lead on appraisal of performance of the CEO
Time Commitment
Board members are required to attend four meetings per year plus the AGM which are usually held online via Zoom. Once a year we bring together the Board and full staff team for an in-person joint planning and review session. Supporting our young artists through attending performances is also appreciated.
There is one permanent sub-group of the Board for finance. Individual Board members may also be asked to bring their expertise to specific pieces of work or policy development and some are the identified leads for areas of policy e.g. safeguarding, fundraising, environment.
The Chair of the Board acts as line manager to the CEO, maintaining regular contact to keep up to date with progress and offer support (on average one meeting per month and email correspondence).
All Directors may serve a maximum of three terms of office, each term being 3 years (9 years maximum).

The Safeguarding Trustee provides strategic leadership and assurance on all aspects of safeguarding across GFS. They ensure that the Board of Trustees fulfils its collective duty to protect all children, young people, and adults at risk who come into contact with GFS’s activities. Working closely with the Chair, CEO, and Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL), this trustee champions a proactive safeguarding culture built on trust, transparency, and accountability. Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that the values and mission of GFS are upheld in all of the decisions and decision-making processes of the Board.
- Contributing actively to the Board’s discussions on the strategic plans for GFS and supporting the Leadership Team to implement them.
- Lead the Board’s responsibility for safeguarding and ensure statutory and regulatory obligations are met.
- Review, approve, and monitor safeguarding policies, ensuring they are updated regularly and effectively implemented.
- Provide assurance that safeguarding risks are identified, managed, and escalated appropriately.
- Offer informed scrutiny and constructive challenge to ensure safeguarding remains a strategic priority.
- Receive regular updates from the DSL and senior leadership, and report key issues and learning to the Board.
- Promote awareness, understanding, and accountability for safeguarding across the organisation, including among volunteers and trustees.
- Keep up to date with safeguarding developments, legislation, and best practice in the charity and youth sectors.
- Act as a visible ambassador for safeguarding, attending relevant committees, events, or training sessions as required.
Time Committment
- Board Members serve an initial three-year term and are eligible for reappointment for an additional term.
- Three Virtual Board meetings and an in person in either in Central London or a central city (meetings are currently held on Saturdays).
- Occasional strategy days, workshops or working groups. Quarterly Sub - Committee membership depending on skills and capacity.
- Regular liaison with the Chair and DSL (typically 3–4 times per year).

Tell My Truth and Shame the Devil C.I.C. is seeking a skilled Clinical Lead, Cultural & Emotional Therapy Liaison to join our founding volunteer team. This critical role ensures that all clinical and therapeutic support offered to members is safe, effective, culturally responsive, and aligned with the CIC’s survivor-led, values-driven mission.
As Clinical Lead, you will provide professional oversight, guidance, and liaison for all cultural and emotional therapy initiatives within the organisation. You will work closely with membership, engagement, and programme teams to ensure services are trauma-informed, culturally competent, and responsive to the needs of survivors, young people, and marginalised communities. This role blends strategic leadership, operational management, and community-facing support to build safe, transformative, and accessible therapy systems.
Experience Qualification and Requirements
Essential / Highly Valued Experience
- Professional qualification and current registration in Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Psychotherapy, Counselling, or a closely related discipline (e.g. HCPC, BACP, UKCP, BABCP, or equivalent)
- Demonstrable experience providing trauma-informed therapeutic support, with strong understanding of how trauma, culture, identity, and systemic factors affect emotional wellbeing
- Proven ability to deliver or advise on culturally competent practice with diverse cultural, ethnic, faith-based, and marginalised communities
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding frameworks, risk management, and ethical practice within clinical, voluntary, and community-based settings
- Working understanding of GDPR and data protection principles, particularly relating to confidential health and safeguarding information
- Experience supervising, mentoring, or providing reflective practice to clinical practitioners, facilitators, or volunteers (including non-clinical staff delivering emotional support)
- Ability to assess risk, respond calmly to complex or sensitive situations, and provide clear, proportionate clinical guidance
- Strong organisational skills, balancing strategic oversight with operational input in a volunteer or resource-limited environment
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain clinical concepts to non-clinical audiences and work collaboratively across teams
- Experience working with survivors of abuse, trauma, exploitation, or systemic harm, and/or within grassroots, community-focused, or voluntary sector organisations
- High levels of professional integrity, emotional intelligence, cultural humility, and commitment to inclusive, ethical care

Main Responsibilities/ Key Duties
- Provide strategic and hands-on clinical oversight to ensure the effective delivery of culturally informed emotional and therapeutic services. Ensure that programmes are safe, ethical, inclusive, and responsive to the diverse needs of members.
- Oversee the planning, delivery, and evaluation of emotional wellbeing and therapeutic services, ensuring that interventions are culturally appropriate, trauma-informed, and aligned with the organisation’s mission and values. This includes supporting programme design, session structures, referral pathways, and evaluation frameworks to promote positive member outcomes.
- Liaise closely with therapists, facilitators, programme leads, and safeguarding officers to ensure consistent alignment with clinical governance, ethical frameworks, safeguarding policies, and professional standards. Provide expert consultation on complex cultural considerations, trauma impacts, emotional safety, and effective engagement strategies, particularly for members from marginalised or under-served communities.
- Support the recruitment, onboarding, training, and supervision of therapy facilitators and volunteers. Advising on role suitability, contributing to training content, offering reflective supervision, and promoting best practice in boundaries, self-care, and ethical decision-making.
- Review and approve therapy protocols, session guidelines, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures, ensuring they are clinically sound, culturally sensitive, and proportionate to the needs and risks of the service users. Ensure that all therapeutic activity complies with relevant professional regulatory standards, safeguarding legislation, and data protection requirements, including GDPR.
- Monitor member wellbeing outcomes, qualitative feedback, and service impact data to inform continuous improvement, learning, and programme development. This includes identifying trends, risks, or unmet needs and advising on appropriate service adaptations.
- As the primary clinical point of contact, the role holder will provide professional oversight for complex cases, escalations, or member concerns that require clinical judgement, risk management, or safeguarding intervention, working collaboratively with internal teams and external professionals where required.

CAFOD Advisor Recruitment - Strategy Performance Committee (SPC)
Role
Committee member, providing expert fundraising expertise to this Committee of the Board, alongside Trustees and other expert advisors. The SPC exercises governance activities on behalf of the Board and provides recommendations to the Board. The remit of the SPC covers CAFOD’s strategy to recruit and engage donors and supporters, and its global programmatic work, so covers both CAFOD’s international activities as well as the work within the Catholic Community in England and Wales.
Essential Criteria
- Professional fundraising expert with experience in the Charity sector
- Experience of multiple income portfolio management and strategy - particularly fundraising from the public (individual giving, legacy fundraising, community fundraising, major donor engagement etc.)
- Respect for the goals, ethos and culture of CAFOD
Advantageous
- An understanding of fundraising in a faith context
- Familiarity with Fundraising Regulator best practice & or a member of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising
- Knowledge of fundraising for international causes
Time commitment
- Four half-day meetings a year, currently two at CAFOD HQ, Romero House, London and two online.
- Some preparatory reading time is required before meetings
